WDW to prevent AP holders from visiting parks many mornings

Nothing wrong with an additional option, but that is not the issue. The issue is whether or not Disney then reacts by recognizing their reservation system had more capacity in the mornings. So they take away more all day park reservation spots from the passholder bucket and force then to just have afternoon entry spot. In other words, what was a choice winds up blocking out passholder all day entry choices. Taken to the extreme, what was an Incredi-pass becomes an Epcot after 4 pass. The only “choice” on our passholder reservation list is the afternoon entry. The all day spots that should have been there are now in the ticket holder bucket.

As I mentioned upthread, Disney is 100% in control of the reservations that are available. If they determined more folks could be accommodated in the morning, they could adjust accordingly. My issue (it seems--your issue, too) would be more restrictions placed on AP holders. (And, also trying to make AP holders- the villain. )

Yay! I have met someone who can write more pessimistically than me. Glad to hand you the crown, scepter and orb. You did it well. It is disheartening to see all the downward changes.

The trend is disturbing though. It is a new era and we do have to put down our innocent expectations as consumers. Each new offering is a new contract. We must scrutinize it and try to understand what the new one is giving or taking away before we buy.

If there are mid-contract breaches of our annual pass terms and conditions there is little to no remedy. A refund or partial refund does not legally cure a breach! That is a mistaken assumption. Only a bi-lateral, mutually agreed recession or reformation of the contract will cure a breach. A unilateral refund still leaves Disney vulnerable for a lawsuit. Lawsuits are expensive and beyond the reach of the majority of people now.

I clearly do not expect the same passes or terms and conditions as we had with platinum, gold and silver. Those days are gone.
I recently moved here from California. The anti-Passholder sentiment is perhaps a bit farther along, there, given their relatively greater impact. For example, most passes already don't have free parking.

On the other hand, CA Passholders would love to have evening only passes. It's never going to happen (for Disneyland, anyway.) Disney World Passholders are fortunate to still get relatively easy access to evening entertainment.

For what it's worth, BlogMickey just tweeted that they may add the OPTION of an afternoon entry time- but without taking anything away.

They stopped sales of new contracts. Last time 40% were new passholders. So that group is exploding in numbers too. They have a powder keg on their hands. Many passholders are getting angry or dissatisfied and leaving. They want to diffuse that too. They have to or ur will damage their existing fan base. It took 40 years to build that multi-generational fan base. It is a treasure to them.
I think we hold ourselves in higher regard than Disney does.

We think they "treasure" us, but their actions are not consistent with that. The fact that they just unanimously extended Chapek's contract by 3 years is not a good sign.

Disney has become increasingly short term in their thinking and actions. And they are going after an increasingly short term customer. They focus on IPs that have only been around for what? 5-10 years? Maybe 20. Not 40! Look at what is happening to attractions based on older IP. I won't bother making a list.

And it makes sense, because they don't need to worry about 40 year ties with their customers, when what they really want it to sell us buckets, hoodies and other imported trinkets from movies that your kids saw yesterday on Disney+. Its all about monetizing every aspect of every IP until you are sick of it, and then moving on to the next one. And they turnover customers the same way as their IPs: milk them dry, then move on to the next batch.

You mean the merch that people line up for hours just to buy before it sells out the day it's released?

Yup. Objectively, it's cheap, plastic kitsch that Disney gets us to want so badly that we'll waste hours of our visit (that we paid for) and spend silly on it. It sad. But, hey, we're just walking wallets waiting to be harvested, so it's all good.

They can't "get" anyone to do anything. People demand it, they supply it. That's it.

Morning, Sandi.

Glad to see you still here on this thread. You certainly have not shared too much. I was worried my last response was too strident, but I was so disappointed with Disney management. Sorry if I was too … whatever … to your post.

If afternoon entry is purely a choice and they are still honoring all of our pass terms and conditions, I too would choose the entry I needed instead of whole day all the time. We can do that. If Disney asked Passholders to do that so they could reserve whole day tickets to help occasional last minute ticket holders we could do that too. I just want them to ditch the dark manipulation that treats APs as second class guests. Just ask!

It is the same as someone in need asking for a favor or even a donation. Glad I could help! But stealing The same from me without my knowledge or permission is not happening. That is the best I can explain the dark side of this. So, we are not so far apart.

The original source was supposedly an insider. Did they really take it down? Interesting.

Please do not ever worry about response to me!!! I take no offense whatsoever!!!!

I can easily post constantly but I also at least attempt to let other people converse before I jump back in!!! Lol

I think where I may differ from others is that if I go to book a reservation and I can’t get in, I book something for else.

If mornings were open, I’d book what is and adjust. So, I can always make it work because change up how we will do things.

So, games that may be played are worked around.

ETA. And I know Disney counts on this. But I have and will complain when I do believe that things are an issue..like late rooms, lack of transparency and even borrowing glitches when I wasn’t impacted.

My kids would demand whatever the "entertainment/infomercials" they watched told them they should. Companies like Disney (and not just Disney, obviously) have long since evolved from simply trying to identify and satisfy demand, to intentionally manufacturing it.

They base their overseas ordering months in advance on demand that they plan to create. Every single new and acquired IP is done with that in mind. Again, not just Disney, but Disney is the master at it.

I'm not sure this topic really warrants a debate. It's already fairly well known at this point by most people on this board.

Okay...the fact remains you can buy whatever the heck you want to buy. If people want buckets, Disney gives them buckets.

Right, but the whole point (for Disney) is selling people buckets. And hoodies. And overpriced, themed cake pops. Disney+ subscriptions, Fireworks Dessert Parties, Etc.

Disney sows the seeds, applies fertilizer, and harvests their crops. Repeat endlessly.

Yes. Disney sells things and we buy them. We agree on this. Not sure that I'm getting why this is strange.
