WDW Ticket Question....adding days?

I'm Buying my WDW tix tonight and I noticed a site has 5day tix for the price of a 4day. However we want a 6day pass. I remember a last time we went (a couple of years ago) added days AFTER we used the tickets once and I don't remember the logistics, but it ended up being a better deal than buying before we went......maybe? Is this still the case, can you still add days and is it the most cost affective way to go or should I just buy the 6 day pass....
The difference to buy the 6 day now is only about $15 more per ticket.....

1. Yes, you can upgrade.

2. Sorry, but if it was a better deal to purchase in advance, then you may have done something
incorrectly (or the CM at WDW made a mistake in the upgrade.)

3. You can still upgrade.

4. There is (generally) no price advantage to purchasing before or during the trip,
unless you are buying tickets from an authorized WDW ticket reseller/discounter.
HOWEVER- There is an advantage to purchasing the maximum number of days
well before your trip, as you can make FastPass+ reservations 30-60 days
BEFORE your park days if you have all of your days' tickets purchased in advance.

5. The difference price between 5-day ticket and a 6-day ticket should not be $15.
It is only $10.65 (including tax.)

If you are trying to decide whether to purchase multi-day (5-day) tickets from an authorized WDW ticket reseller/discounter... You CAN upgrade those tickets at WDW, and the cost to do so will just be $10.65 per added "day" if you do the upgrade after first USING your tickets to go
into a theme park at least one time.

1. That would depend on from WHOM you bought the original tickets.
If you bought them from Disney, what you describe should not have been.
If you bought them from an authorized ticket reseller, then, yes, that should have been true.
(After all, you bought the original tickets at a discount.)

But, what you are actually buying is nothing more than a regular 5-day ticket.
(There is no such thing as a "4-day ticket with one free day.")
The "free" 5th day is just an advertising gimmick.
(They are just knocking $10 (plus tax) off the price of a regular 5-day ticket.)
So... when you get to WDW and use one day from that ticket, you can then upgrade to adding
another day for $10 (plus .65 tax.)

Thanks Robo. It was indeed a well known reseller and 4/5 day tickets are $307.99 and 6 days are $321.41

Occasionally there are some offers for free days, or kids stay and play free, or free dining. This is all marketing hype!

Disney World has three main profit and expense centers: the Parks, Food & Beverage, and Resorts (including transportation). Each of these has to make a profit. (Actually there are more, such as merchandise and sports, for example, but they don't really count for this discussion.)

The Parks, including the theme parks, water parks, Disney Quest, get their money from ticket sales. It does not matter if these tickets are sold at the gates, by phone or online, by the Resorts, or by wholesalers such as AAA, The Disney Store, or authorized resellers.

Food and Beverage is all dining locations property-wide, including from Victoria and Albert's down to the ice cream or other snack carts. All money taken in by the Dining Plan (any level) goes to F&B and then down to the individual locations depending on use by Plan Guests.

The Resorts have the most flexibility as far as prices are concerned. If they are offering free tickets, they still have to pay Park Operations for the tickets they sell. If they are offering free dining they still have to pay F&B for the dining plans. The only way they can do this is by adjusting the price of the rooms. And they do not stack discounts. So if you are getting "free dining", you are actually getting a discounted price on the room but paying for the dining.

This is why a person making a discounted reservation at an AP rate cannot get free dining,l the Resort still has to make money.

Thanks so much for asking about this. I am looking at the same thing. If I purchase a 5 day ticket, I would only be able to book 5 days of FP+ and not 6 days, correct? If that's the case, I will go ahead and buy the 6 day ticket so I will be able to book FP+ for all my park days in advance.

Yep, you can only book FP for the number of days on your ticket.
