They did not go up.

I think there is another possibility for next Sunday. After that its totally up in the air.

Last year and the year before they announced it before it happened. No announcements yet from Disney.

We bought APs for my kids in anticipation of the price increase! (My DH and I already have APs.)

We bought our AP'S figuring the price would go up. I figure the prices will go up before we go in December so it is one less thing we need to worry about.

Expressed as a percentage, can anyone tell me what the approx increase on APs has been over the last couple of years?
We are weighing up a DVC AP vs 14 day uk pass for Dec. I know APs can be reused, but doubt we'll return in 2011.

Thanks!

The last three increases were less than 5% - 3.2%, 4.5%, and 4.1% respectively, if my numbers are correct.

A 4% increase would make the new price about $509.

I have the DVC AP, and I've saved money on non-DVC rooms with an AP rate, plus I bought the Tables in Wonderland card. If those extras with the discounted DVC AP compare favorably to the UK pass, go for it.

Well, I bought my ticket last week, any way! :thumbsup2

That is what I did. I just got a 10-day PH with the no expiration option. It will last me 3 or 4 years and the prices will never go down so I figured I would get it now to be sure.

I read the price increases were pushed back to mid week. I got my AP Vouchers in the mail friday. Woot.

we are thinking of buying APs with our DVC discount too. Is the price increase expected to be significant- like 3-4%?

If you book a package today(for september 2011) do you still get a price increase?

Until the new package prices come out they won't let you book a 2011 package. You could call now and make a room only reservation but they will tell you that once the 2011 prices come out your rate will be adjusted to show that price increase.

Me too... It's too bad none of us are wondering if the prices will go DOWN... I guess we all know better.

I"m curious when the tickets and such will inevitably reach the point of pricing out a vast majority of the market or severely limiting those who used to come a lot more frequently.

Seeing as how all Disney theme parks in the U.S. were showing increases anywhere from .05%(Epcot,AK) to as high as 9.5%(Disney's California Adventure) in 2009. Not to mention worldwide they hold 10 of the top 20 spots including the first 8 spots at the end of 2009. I don't think attendance is something they are having to worry about too much right now.

Wondering the same thing ourselves. We did some humming and hawing before purchasing the AP'S this year. Since we only usually go once a year, but go for 3 or 4 weeks it is worth it to us. When we are in WDW we go to the parks everyday for a little bit. This year we actually tried to figure out how many days we needed/wanted to be in the parks and weather we could do it any other way that would be less costly. I however don't like thinking there are days we are going to be there that we cannot go into a park. DH is just indulging my inner princess

The problem with your comment is you are ignoring two VERY crucial facts:

1) The ONLY reason that WDW resort saw increases in attendance is because of the most aggressive pricing promotions they have ever had. Free Dining was offered for longer than ever and no one can ever remember Disney offering ANYTHING close to the 4 for 7 promotion. Before those promotions, attendance was looking dire... at one point, booked rooms were 10-15% less than the previous year. Don't kid yourself... without those promotions 2009 and to a lesser extent 2010 would be a complete disaster for Disney. But credit where credit is due, they finally wised up and realized discounted dollars were better than no dollars.

2) My comment was not about the short term but the long term. Check out the historical ticket prices.... it took Disney 16 years to get to $40 for a single day, single park ticket. They started in 1981 (replacing the General Admission/A-E ticket system) at $9.50 a ticket and reached $39.75 in March of 1997, an increase of $30 over 16 years or $1.87 avg per year. Since that time, the park tickets have doubled in price to the current $79 (which is expected to be raised this month). This is a raise of $39.25 in a 12 year span for a $3.27 average per year or a 57% increase vs the first 16 years of the one day tickets. If that trend continues, then a one day, one park ticket goes to $118.24 in 12 years. If it follows the trend of the last 3 years and we see $4 increases per year, then the ticket is $127. The problem with this is that the average salary and pay of many workers is diminishing, leaving a higher costing Disney product, with far less to pay, leaving a real situation where Disney prices themselves out of the lower to upper middle class families that are Disney's bread and butter. It's kind of the equivalent of Vegas only focusing on the whales and ignoring the average gamer... its come back to bite them in a major way.

The annual pass began in 1982 for $100. Current price set in 2009 is $489. In 27 years, the pass has increased by $389. Further, it took 15 years to reach $288 and only 12 to reach $489, or $12.53 per year average vs $16.67 per year average. The prices are only escalating faster.

So, while short term they are ok, in the long term they could seriously damage themselves. Frankly after the last 4-5 years, I have zero faith in Meg Crofton as she has shown very little long term strategic planning capabilities and seems to have been simply Jay Rasulo's Yes Woman. Rasulo was one of the worse things to ever happen to the parks and is kind of like the Daniel Snyder of Disney. Frankly I think Al Weiss was starting to slip greatly although there was talk of Rasulo forcing through some of the garbage we've seen.
