WDW through an 8-month-old’s eyes &10m &13m &16m...New 10/30!

I'm going to check out your PTR too. I sure hope you write a TR bc there are so few out there regarding brining young babies!! Thanks for coming over!

I just am worried about Disney's new CC policy & cancelling. I certainly won't make double ADR's or anything, but I hope we can decide to cancel in time to not be charged a fee if our LO isn't doing well with them! I guess we can decide that the first day or so. We do have a weeklong trip to Cape Cod with DH's family in July, where we typically eat out 4-5 times during the week so hopefully we'll get lots of experience during that trip!

I guess we'll just have to wait and see!! I am so happy we'll have the chance to test her out w/ fireworks around the 4th though, like you did. I might just get the ear muffs just in case.

I saw you were already there. Thanks for coming by! I will definitely be writing a TR. You're right, there's not many TR's on here that include young babies :goodvibes

Yeah the new CC booking thing is kind of a PITA but after your Cape Cod trip you can make the call from there as to how many ADR's you think your DD will tolerate.

Yeah that's definitely good that you'll be able to try out the fire works with her before hand. Getting the ear muffs can't hurt anything :goodvibes I just know my DS won't wear them.

Pre-TR update :goodvibes

I updated the chapter links finally...

and have a question for you all!! Would it be weird to post my 3D ultrasound pics on here? Anyone thing it's weird/gross/etc? If so I won't be offended, but I was thinking of posting them and didn't want anyone to be upset or whatnot.

We went when I was around 28 weeks, and it was iffy whether or not she'd look like a real baby bc by then they may or may not have started putting on a little baby chub. Well...we had full blown chubby cheeks LOL. Which is kinda weird bc I've actually been measuring small every week (by 2 weeks or so) but US tech thought baby was pretty big! So who knows.

Also update - I skipped the breastfeeding class last night. Just couldn't stay up for the 6-9PM class (i've been going to bed at 7:30/waking up at 4:30 for work). I feel like a bad mom already LOL but just couldn't do it. Dr. appt is this afternoon though (just my bi-weekly check up). Maybe he'll be able to help with the headaches?

I LOVE ultrasound pictures so please, share away! :goodvibes

I don't blame you for skipping the class. That's late for a breastfeeding class. I didn't go to one but I also only breastfed for a week. DS was lazy and didn't want to do it  I hope your Dr appointment went well and you got something to help with the headaches.

No! Really?! Why would Disney close it, I thought it was really popular? I thought about V&A's but it's so much $$. If Cali Grill does close for some reason, we'll probably do Narcoosee's. Lobster - yum!

I wouldn't mind if you put your ultrasound photos on here. No biggie!

Great shower pictures. Love that cake!

It is just a rumor now though it looks like lots of ppl are finding out about it. It stems from a much-needed roof repair on the CR, and then after that I guess there is TALK of changing the restaurant, which I just cannot understand!! I HOPE that it's just for the roof repair and then it will reopen.

Thanks, I was blown away by the cake!

I don't mind if you post the ultrasound pics... But then I'm a nurse so I see lots of things!!

Thank you, I will do a new post with them in a sec...

Yay so glad to hear you will be doing a TR!! I guess not ALL of my ADR's will need to have a CC guarantee (I need to look at the list).

Aw sorry to hear about the breastfeeding, LOL. I hope to pump if we can't get a latch, since she's going to be on bottles at daycare anyway. We'll see...yes I was so mad about the timing for the class, and felt bad about missing it but oh well.

Dr. appt went ok. Everything looks fine, and nothing to do for the migranes (he classified them as vascular migranes) but take tylenol until after I have her. Nothing else is safe now. Thankfully I've been headache free for over 1 full day now (LOL) so that's been really nice!

Yeah not all of mine needed a CC. The Character meals of course needed one and the more expensive places like Coral Reef needed one but other than that the others didn't need it. I have to go through what I booked on my PTR

Pumping is a great idea! The reason I didn't do that is because Alex was losing so much weight waiting on my milk to come in (it was taking longer than normal since I had a c-section) so we had to supplement with formula so instead of trying to exasperate the situation I just decided to go all formula. It's ok though. :goodvibes I hope the pump and BFing works out for y'all! Don't feel bad about missing the class. I'm sure it happens all the time!

Glad everything was good at your appointment. Bummer the dr couldn't give you anything for the headaches. After a while I was sick of hearing "take Tylenol" when I was pregnant. It's like, the only thing you can take for anything and it does absolutely nothing. Oh well. Glad to hear you haven't had a headache for a day or so. Hope it stays away for you!

Ok so since no one dissented...here are some "3D" ultrasound pics!! We went when I was almost 28 weeks preggo (actually the weekend of my shower). Supposedly she was about 2.5 lbs at this US, and now she should be around 4lbs! From now to the end she should gain about 1/2 lb per week.

So without further ado...here she is! Oh and also, we were able to catch her frowning (with her forehead scrunched up) after poking and prodding her to try and move her hands away from her face, and also a couple smiles too :goodvibes

Also...since none of you know my family...I'll tell you her name!! My mom is DYING to know her name, but she's also really, really judgemental and has something to say about every name we've mentioned, that I am not telling any of our families her name until she is born.

So...her name is Aria Marie! Marie is both DH's and my grandmother's middle names, and we just really like the name Aria.

Wow you're quick!! I just wanted to also say "the best laid plans"... I know I can PLAN and hope BFing goes really well, and/or I can pump, but I know that's not how it goes always.

Yeah tylenol is so useless. No wonder it is safe during pregnancy, there's no potency to it whatsoever LOL. I need to look over your ADR list too! Can't wait to hear all about them.

BTW - happy birthday to Alex tomorrow!! I will also be looking for a post regarding his first bday celebration hehehe :goodvibes

Great ultrasound pictures!! She is just precious. I also love the name you picked out. :goodvibes

Yeah unfortunately sometimes our bodies and babies have other plans. You really just have to make up your mind to go with the flow. Otherwise it's very stressful. I was never dead set on BFing so when it wasn't working out it wasn't too huge of a loss but I was still sad/depressed about it and the fact that my body was failing me and my baby. The c-section thing is what depressed me (and still does) the most. Ugh!

It really is. But they'll give you perkoset after giving birth even if you're BFing. Go figure! I'll post my ADR list as soon as I get a chance. It will probably have to wait until after Alex's birthday party and Christmas though unless I get some time to do it while I'm at work one day.

Oh thanks but it's actually on Saturday. My ticker is messed up for some reason :confused3 I'll definitely do a post about his party and put pictures up. I'm really anxious to see his cake! I hope it turns out just how we want it.

I ilke the name! I'm a big Pretty Little Liars fan so I immediately thought of Aria from the show. I'm such a nerd.

What a beautiful name & a beautiful baby girl! I know you just can't wait to meet her. :lovestruc I don't blame you not wanting to tell people the name until she is here. People can be so rude and pushy when it comes to all things baby, especially the name! My mom really hated one of the names we were considering for Paxton, but she was nice enough not to tell me so until we had decided on his name being Paxton for sure. Although, she might be disappointed to find out it's still on our list for future babies!

As for the BF/formula thing, don't stress about it now. I did find the breastfeeding class to be VERY helpful, but if the hospital where you are delivering has a good lactation nurse that is willing to spend the time to help you, you can make it just fine without taking the class. The one I went to was 2 hours long, and I was soooo tired by the end! I want to say it was from 6-8 pm and I had been going to bed early through most of my pregnancy, so it was rough to be out that late! I was pregnant and due within a month of 2 other girls at work, with 2 more due about 4 or 5 months after the group of us, and we ALL were going to breastfeed until our babies turned 1. The two that had their babies before me switched to formula before their babies were 6 weeks, I made it to just before Paxton's 1st birthday, and the two that had their babies after me, one is exclusively pumping & feeding, and the other is still breastfeeding at 8 months old. So you really just never know. You will quickly figure out what is best for you and your family. Any breastmilk is good for the baby, even if you are only able to do it for the time you are on maternity leave, or for the first week, or just the first day. As long as you can say you did what was best for you and baby and your sanity, that is all that matters. I think some women feel like they are failures if they can't breastfeed for whatever reason, and they stress themselves out to the point of exhaustion trying to BF or pump, and they end up not doing themselves or their baby any good. You will quickly figure out what's right for y'all once little Aria is here. :goodvibes

Breastfeeding is not for everyone but I am an advocate for it as a nurse. I sometimes work on the Mother-Baby unit of my hospital and help with breastfeeding quite often while there.

Things to remember:

The first 24 hours baby is usually sleepy and it can be hard to wake baby to even try to breastfeed. We tell our moms that all we ask is that you TRY every 3 hours. If baby doesn't wake up it is OK! Right around 24 hours babies tend to wake up and they are HUNGRY! Take advantage of the first 24 hours of sleepiness and get SLEEP yourself. The next 2-3 days are going to be rough!

Relax! Babies can sense if you are not relaxed and that will cause them to fight the LATCH. If you are relaxed you can have a more relaxed hold on the baby and this will help.

Babies do not get a lot the first few days but what they do get is like liquid GOLD. Because they do not get a lot you may need to feed them more often than every 3 hours.

Make sure if they are feeding often that they do have a proper latch so as not to make your nipples sore. Our hospital provides Lanolin to our pts but I'm not sure if they all do. This is a natural product that you apply after breastfeeding to help sooth.

How can I not join in after seeing the adorable ultrasound pictures? She is absolutely precious and I love her name. I agree with "the best laid plans" approach. We attended all the childbirthing classes only to end up with a c-section (for both of my kids). We attended breastfeeding classes, only to have to really work at getting them to latch on. They eventually learned but it was such a headache. The best advice I can give is to live your life the way you did before kids when you have kids. Kids will adapt. Do what you and your DH think is best for YOUR kids. Let your family tell their ideas or what you are doing wrong(trust me they will. And it never stops:)) Then smile, say thank you even though it hurts, and then do what You think is best. We had our kids on the go from day 1. We didn't worry about keeping it quiet around them when they were babies. They learned to sleep through anything without waking up. Something that you will want while at Disney. Take her to restaurants. Get her used to how your way of life really is at an early age. It will be easier in the long run. I am a preschool teacher and it drives me nuts to see how many parents let their kids make the rules. The kids need to adapt to your way of life not the other way around. Sorry for the rant on my first post on you PTR.

Thanks! We like the name too, though I go back and forth on the middle name. DH wanted it to be meaningful, while I have barely any family (literally my mom and grandmom - that's it) so it's hard for me to really care. But Marie worked out when we found out it's both of our grandmother's middle names!

Sorry you're still upset about the c-section!! I think you need to take your own advice and let that go  it's not your fault and not anything you could have prevented. OTOH my friend is getting an elective c-section next week at 39 weeks preggo bc she thinks she is too "small". Now that, IMO, is just silly...

I ilke the name! I'm a big Pretty Little Liars fan so I immediately thought of Aria from the show. I'm such a nerd.

LOL I love that show too! And besides the whole dating a teacher thing, Aria is my favorite character hahaha.

Wow thanks for all the great advice!! Thanks for the compliment on her name & pictures, too! :goodvibes Sorry to hear your mom doesn't like a potential future name LOL, but I'm impressed she kept it to herself! The thing is, every time I would state "ooh I really like ____" she would make a face and comment about someone she know/her thoughts on the name. Such as Reagan which I keep hearing for a little girl. Now, at my age, I don't remember the president, so don't even think of him when thinking about that name, but my mom immediately was like "why would you ever want to name a child after such a horrible person...etc etc". No matter what she would come up with something. I kept telling her to stop, but she can't keep her mouth shut. We'll see what she says/does when we tell her the name AFTER it's been written on the birth certificate LOL.

As for BF'ing - congrats for doing it for so long. That's kinda funny how you all planned to go to 1 year and so far only you have made it and 1 is close. I spent way too much on my pump to put it to waste LOL (I've already sanitized it) so I'm really hoping to do that at least. Plus it'd be nice not to buy formula on top of everything else.

Woot some professional help! Thanks!! :goodvibes thanks for the tip on the first 24 hours. I was told we had to feed every 2 hours for the first 2 weeks? Is that not the case? It sure sounds like an awful lot! I plan to bring lanolin to the hospital just in case, I don't think mine provides it. The latch is what I'm really worried about, I guess (well, and milk supply). I'll try to stay relaxed about it though! Hopefully we will have a sort of routine by the time we leave the hospital (or maybe that's just wishful thinking...:rolleyes1)

LOL Thanks for making me laugh first thing on this lovely Monday morning! Hahaha. That's exactly how we plan to live - we still plan to travel, go out to eat, etc. All of our friends seem to have fallen off the earth in terms of doing adult things (esp WITH baby) and I just don't understand it. I mean, we will enjoy evenings without her I'm sure, but I also want her to feel comfortable no matter what we're doing. Well...maybe not when the last Twilight movie comes out, she can stay with her Grammy then haha. Anyway thanks for your advice and comments on her name/pictures! So sweet!

Just a quick update, I'm sure everyone is really busy this week with the holidays so close...have i mentioned how much i just looooove presents?? :lovestruc LOL. I need to post some pics of our tree. DH doesn't agree we should put presents out around the tree before christmas morning :confused3 but for now I got my way.

We are celebrating christmas just the two of us on Friday night, and then heading to his parent's house on Cape Cod Saturday-Monday. I already know that baby has her own stack of presents bc our Maclaren stroller was purchased off the registry (we wanted an umbrella stroller in addition to our big one). DH has friday off, in addition to ALL of next week - which I normally take off but am conserving my leave this year.

Anyway...

We had our "All Day Childbirth Preparation Class" yesterday. It was so much fun, though really made it real that I actually have to go through labor LOL. I've tried not to think about it much up to this point. BUT the class was awesome because she focused a LOT on how DH can help the process, and we breaked like 6 different times to show husbands how to massage you during contractions and such. DH seemed to really like it too, bc he's always been terrible at massaging me so I always just gave up, but he learned some tips and now it feels good! LOL. :woohoo: So it was just great all around. Almost made me want to go all-natural though, we'll see how I feel after hours of contractions though.

So what are all your plans for the holidays?

As for BF'ing - congrats for doing it for so long. That's kinda funny how you all planned to go to 1 year and so far only you have made it and 1 is close. I spent way too much on my pump to put it to waste LOL (I've already sanitized it) so I'm really hoping to do that at least. Plus it'd be nice not to buy formula on top of everything else.

One of the BEST things I learned in the BF class that kept me from having to substitute with formula at all was to pump after every time I BF in the beginning when you are overproducing your milk. Especially while you are on maternity leave! That way you can freeze it and store it for daycare. Then once you do go back to work, you'll be pumping there too & can store even more. That's what we did, and I was making so much milk my freezer was full after a couple of months and we had to buy a separate freezer to store it all! They have little bags I got from Wal Mart to freeze & store the milk in that were great. After awhile, the freezer got so full of the bags and the older ones were all the way in the back, so I had to go through and organize hundreds of bags. My advice would be to find some organization system that works for you from the beginning. I would take a plastic Wal Mart bag and label it with the month and put all the milk bags from that month in there so I could be sure I was using the oldest milk up first. Do something from the beginning and save yourself the hassle I went through! I actually had to wear gloves because my hands were hurting from handling so many frozen bags!!

I would feed him on one side till he seemed done, burp him, and switch to the other side, which he didn't usually eat from as long, then pump that second side when he was finished. I rotated sides every time I started. So that kept me from having really any "leaky" moments too!

What a beautiful name & a beautiful baby girl! I know you just can't wait to meet her. :lovestruc I don't blame you not wanting to tell people the name until she is here. OTOH my friend is getting an elective c-section next week at 39 weeks preggo bc she thinks she is too "small". Now that, IMO, is just silly...

I'll be posting pictures this evening. They're currently uploading :goodvibes

We did the same thing on the middle name for Alex. DH almost wanted to go with his Dad's name for the middle name but I talked him out of that and boy am I ever glad I did. Drama drama drama! Marie is a great name! That's what we'll be using as middle name if the next baby happens to be a girl.

You're right! It doesn't bother me as much as it used to. That is silly that your friend is having an elective c-section at 39 weeks just 'cause she believes she won't be able to deliver. But to each their own I suppose. I was in induced labor for 19 hours at 41 weeks before we finally decided on a c-section. I only ever got to 2cm and that's what I walked in at when we got there to be induced. My doc told me with no change in 19 hours that it was unlikely to ever happen so if we didn't do the c-section we'd just be delaying the inevitable. He was a great doctor but I think he's a little induction/c-section happy. Oh well.

Glad your childbirth class went well and DH learned some new massaging techniques! Woot! :goodvibes I started freaking out about labor and all of that late in the third tri too but it's really not that bad at all. But I had an epidural (omg HEAVEN!!!) I totally look forward to giving birth the 2nd go round. It was fun having everyone wait on me

Hope you get lots of awesome stuff for baby girl for Christmas :goodvibes Alex was a week old last Christmas and slept through the whole thing so I'm looking forward to watching him open gifts this year. We'll be spending Christmas eve with my family and then opening gifts here at our house on Christmas morning.

LOVE the name!! It's absolutely precious!! How exciting to see the 3D ultrasound pictures!!

Hopefully I'll get to meet the little doll at our Crystal Palace DisMeet!! Haha

I had major headaches too with all 4 pregnancies. No matter how much water I drank, they seemed to stick around some days. Not too much longer to go and baby will be here!!
Nothing new to report...though I'm 32 weeks today!! :cool1: My next "goal" is to get to 36 weeks, then I'm going to start on the countown big-time. I'll start some red raspberry leaf tea and evening primrose oil too, just to hopefully help things along a little bit hehe.

My main complaint is still the terrible headaches that I get daily. And recently they have been waking me up at night, too. I'm already not getting to sleep very well (back hurts!!) but now, when I am asleep, waking up with a pounding headache is NOT fun!

Oh and we have a breastfeeding class tomorrow night! DH is reluctant to go, but he is going - just afraid he'll be the only guy/DH there. We'll see!

We are going to purchase Photopass CD prior to our trip next Dec, and possibly the Oct trip...I'm still trying to decide if it will be worth it since we are only having 2 park days...decisions, decisions
So I'm thinking about pre-paying for the photopass CD before the trip. We've never done PP before, as it never really seemed worth it, but now it might be nice to get some "professional" photos.

And speaking of professional photos, I was thinking of doing a photoshoot!! Thoughts?

We are hoping for 2 MNSSHP days...or, at least I am. Not sure if DH will want to give up a half day at F&W so we can head back to MK for the party. We shall see I guess.
I peeked at the October 2012 thread a few days ago and there was mention of plans for the MNSSHP. I hadn't really given it any thought, but now I'm thinking it might be a lot of fun to see the parade / hallowishes. IDK if it is worth it though...

Love the 3D US pics! I wanted to do that with one of my pregnancies, but never did. Now we are OFFICIALLY done having kids, so I guess I wont be doing that afterall. BTW, love the name you picked.

I am in!!! I have loved reading about your new addition! I love the name Aria, it's absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to read the rest of this ptr and meet your precious little girl!
