WDW Thread - to discuss all things WDW

I just stumbled across this DVD in another thread on the Dis and I think I may have to get it. How cool does it look:-

oh no....now why did you have to go and do that!! I just bought a heap of Disney CDs at amazon :headache: They don't need any more of my money.....sigh..............

Anywho...I was just thinking...
Has anyone done any of the tours?

I did 'Backstage Magic' and 'Wild by design' in 07 and then last december did the Fort Wilderness segway tour and Epcot World Showcase Segway tour.

I would HIGHLY recommended these tours.
They aren't 'cheap' (of course disney isn't actually known for being cheap :rotfl: ) but they really are wonderful experiences!!

That looks fantastic.

I almost pressed preorder, it's released in 5 days! But I don't think our DVD player is multizoned. Are DVD's still zoned around the world :rotfl:

It says "Region: All Regions" Does that mean it will play on Australian DVD players ? Are we region 4? Or did I make that up

Yup. DVDs are still region coded and we are region 4 (region B for Blue Ray). If it say plays all regions, then it should play on an Aussie DVD player.

For those that have a Wii - Wii games are also region coded so an American Wii game will not play on a Wii purchased in Australia.

Thanks PrincessInOz. It should play here then :cool1:

I was aware of the Wii games not playing here. So we just stock up on DS games as they work anywhere.

When we were at WDW last time, my DS (and not the machine, my son :rotfl:) lost his bag that had his DS and all of his games in it, weird thing was, we left it in the room at check out :confused3 and it hadn't been used the whole time we were at WDW other than in the room, he never took it out, so it was definately left in the room. He had been collecting games for years and had bought a heap whilst we were there, he had about 20 + games :scared1:. All gone!

He realised that is was gone as we were leaving the hotel, so we rushed back in and somebody went to check the room but the room had already been cleaned and no DS bag, the called housekeeping and no bag, called lost property, no bag. So I left a note there for lost property as we knew it was in the room, so hoped it would turn up. I thought it may have been thrown out in the rubbish as we did have a few bags of rubbish and a cheap stoller we left behind (on purpose), so it must have been mixed up in all of that. But unfortunately it was never found as I did leave our address for it to be sent.

He was so upset, so when we got to Hawaii we were able to get a new DS and many of the games he had lost.

But long story short, we were very relieved that DS games are universal and so much cheaper in the US than here

I hate it when things like this happen! But thankfully, DS' are also about 40% cheaper in the US than here.

My son left his DS at home this trip but I brought mine along....just in case. We kept it locked up in the safe all the time and my son was pretty happy when he found out that there was an electronic device for him to play with over there. We came back with about 6 DS games only this time. And I'm also glad that DS games are universal.

What about PS2 games? We were planning to stock up on those in the US but will they work here?

Yayayayayay, just went out to the mailbox and the beautiful PrincessinOz has posted me some maps from the parks at WDW. She is such a good girl bringing them back for me.

Champagne o'clock is going to have start a little earlier today so that I can sit with a map in one hand, glass in the other and soak in every little details.

Thanks PrincessinOz.

Hope you enjoyed the champagn cocktails!!

Just wondering if anyone has done the Pick a Pearl thing at Japan in Epcot. I've been reading a thread on here and it looks fascinating and something that my daughter and I would totally love.

Here is the link to the thread in case this is new to someone here:-

:rotfl2: Many (many) years ago, I picked a pearl on my honeymoon in Hawaii.
It's the same concept. You pick an oyster and go through some sort of opening ceremony....I don't know what the ceremony entails at Disney but I would imagine that someone has posted up on youtube...
And then after they open the oyster and you find a pearl, you get to choose what setting the pearl should end up in.
I did take a quick look at the settings when I walked past - and from the quick glance, they looked fine.

Instead of pearls, I've come back with jewellery this time. I got some Mickey earrings with "rubies" and "diamonds". I was also tempted by the necklaces - but there weren't any matching necklaces to the earrings. Mybe next time.

I haven't done it in Epcot but I did it 3 times in Hawaii.
I imagine it would be the same concept but I can't be sure.
The reason I did it 3 times in Hawaii though was they had a barrel you picked a piece of paper out of which would have a discount on it. It ranged from 10-50% off.
I got 40% off twice and 50% off another time. :wizard:
[I have NO idea if they would offer this at Disney. In Hawaii there are quite a few stores in this chain all over the islands...but with just the one...I tend to think not]

It was fun. I would recommended it. They have a little ceremony with a bell and so on. I got a fairly large white one, a small gold one and a small pink one. :thumbsup2

I didn't get it set. At the time the dollar was 60c :sad2: and I didn't want to waste time looking. All of them were at least a hundred. I'm not sure if Disney might offer cheaper jewellery settings? :lmao:
Either way I'm sure they will offer to drill it so it is ready for a setting but again...I didn't do this as I can do this later too.
Currently the 3 pearls are just sitting but it was just a fun experience the pearl part...so I'm happy until I get the time to look properly.

You can apparently buy a Cinderella Carriage setting on Ebay with a chain for very little and from the pictures I saw on the thread above I think it would be a perfect gift for my DD and I have to say I wouldn't mind one myself LOL.

You can apparently Pick a Pearl at DD, one of the waterparks and Japan.

We did the pick a pearl in Japan (Epcot), the kids loved it. The spent some time deliberating about which one to pick. They picked a 7 and 3/4 size, which I subsequent mounted on a modern brushed silver setting. Just need to to get a black leather choker for it now. I don't get to the shops much! Always saving for a holiday, two trips for bali scheduled for this year. Definatley want to head back to the US for 2011 or 2012! My 3 year old keeps on saying she wants to go back to Disneyland, and that the older children can stay home! She was so terrified of the characters and princesses this year, I want to wait a little so she will hopefully not spend so much time clinging on to me.
