we'll be at WDW later this month with our 3 yo dd and our 4.5 mo ds. i see that "baby stations" are mentioned... would their locations be on the personalized maps i got? if i don't need to change a dipe, i usually just find the closest shady spot and nurse him wherever i happen to be. how nursing friendly is WDW? how about the restaurants, etc? if ds is hungry, i want to feed him right away and not have to search for a "private" area. experiences?

I traveled to WDW with my son when he was 10 months old and had no problem nursing him there. The baby stations are very nice, they have special nursing rooms all set up, but the stations are near the entrance to each park (not always convenient).

However, I had no problem finding quiet out-of-the way places. It also depends on what kind of "nurser" you are. At that point, I didn't care what people said to me or if they stared. I was discreet about it, not flashing people and not showing much skin at all, but I don't think women should have to hide under a rock to nurse; or a blanket for that matter. My DS at 10 m/o was way too curious about his surroundings to let my put a blanket over his head. He would sit straight up if I tried that.

I say go for it! You can find all sorts of out of the way places to nurse and be comfortable doing it. Just ask around here. Like at DHS, outside of ToT exit there is a nice shady spot with places to sit and it's usually empty or atleast quiet.

Good luck and have a great trip!

i'm hoping it is as I'll be plonking my bum down and feeding where ever we need to, he's nearly 18months and we're quite confident public nursers (people see less when i nurse than most people show in a strappy top LOL)

I saw quite a few nursing moms and applauded them for not feeling that they had to be out of site. The baby care centres are great, but unless you're near one when hunger strikes, you'll have better luck nursing elsewhere. There are some shady spots, and if you are like me, I used to sweat like crazy when I nursed my babies, especially in the early months. If WDW isn't nursing freindly than something is seriously wrong!!

I have found WDW to a very easy place to nurse in public. I didn't have any trouble finding a nice quiet, shady place to nurse. The baby centers are wonderful, but not always convenient ... while in the MK, one of my favorite places to nurse was on the TTA! :lmao: I know, a bit silly, but it was shady and very cool, even on a hot day, and the motion seemed to help my little ones when they were over stimulated by all that was going on around them. The ride is about 10 minutes, I think, but the CMs will let you stay on and ride as many times as you need! :thumbsup2

have a great trip! Jennie

Yes, its a very nursing friendly place!!! My DS was 14 months at the time, and I nursed him where or when ever he needed! I can't recall even using one of the baby care stations at all. You will be fine!!!:goodvibes

DS was was 14 months the first time we took him.

I never got a stare or even a second glance when we nursed on the benches, at the restaurants, any ride he was allowed on, the bus, near the pool......

THen again, even if I did, I probably wouldn't have notice, and if they were looking, it was probably trying to figure out if we were indeed or were not nursing. I got oso good at nursing I could carry on a canversation with my easy to embarass MIL and she wouldn't even know it was happening until it was over!

And yes, there are plenty of rides he was allowed on!!

If you are in Liberty Square at the Magic Kingdom there are some great rocking chairs on a porch around the corner from the Hall of Presidents. Its a nice quiet, shady spot for nursing. I've used it several times.

Well I nursed my boys on most of the rides in MK(think slow moving ones- haunted mansion is a great one- ) I even had to on IASW.

I never felt uncomfortable nursing in disney and came to like those baby stations for the air conditioning and the escape from the crowds. But really nursed wherever and whenever without problem.

I nursed everywhere at WDW. If it was a slow dark ride...I nursed there (haunted mansion and the ride in the big golf ball-I can never remember the name- are tricky, they both go backwards and down hill for a spell...but if you know when it's no big) I would not sweat using the nursing stations. If they are convenient they are great but I wouldn't spend a lot of time going out of your way to make it to one of them. I liked nursing on the rides cause their mostly air conditioned. but nursed just about anywhere the little demanded to be fed.

Good luck I hope you have a great trip!

Great question as my DD with be 7 months when we go and if my older DD is any indication, I will be breastfeeding for a long time. I normally like to be discreet, but think about it, this may be the only time you see these people ever, LOL!!

I live in So. Calif. and can't speak highly enough of the Baby Care centers, especially in the hot summers. My 2 kids were active nursers ( they liked to grab on to everything while they nursed) so they Baby Care centers were good to keep them from getting distracted. But, I have nursed them in shows and on rides too. My nursing motto always was," If my baby is hungry, they are going to eat!" As long as you are discreet, and WDW has lots of wonderful little nooks and crannys for you to sit, I think you will find nursing there no problem. Enjoy this special time with your angel, it goes too fast!

The Baby Care centers are wonderful for getting out of the heat but I nurse anywhere. We were at DHS on Saturday and I really didn't feel like walking to the front of the park so I nursed in the shade near Toy Story while waiting for dh and ds to get off the ride (we did a baby swap) and again inside Hollywood & Vine at breakfast. Noone batted an eye and I didn't care even if they did. LOL

I never had a problem nursing in WDW. Really, if you can't nurse comfortably in a place designed to entertain families, where can you?? :confused3

Since Disney tends to attract a lot of international tourists who are less uptight about these things, the NIP atmosphere is even better! :thumbsup2

WDW is super nursing friendly :thumbsup2 . I've nursed newborns (7 weeks old) all the way up to 2 1/2 year olds :cool2: . I've nursed in restaurants, rides, shows, on benches, on buses, on monorails, in hotel lobbies, etc. I have never gotten so much as a dirty look (I admit that I am a very discreet nurser). The baby stations are there for your comfort, but dont' feel like you have to use them.

I agree with everyone else. My baby is 6 mos old and I nursed her all over Disney! The only downside to nursing at Disney is that it is so darn hot. Both of us were pouring with sweat. I nursed on all the a/c rides - heck, I even nursed on Pirates! (Forgot about that little hill at the beginning...that was a little interesting).

awesome! i would hope that a place designed for families and kids would be nursing friendly, so it's good to hear positive experiences. i often nurse my ds in my sling, so it is very discreet, but in the early july heat, i may decide to take an actual break to nurse and relax. good idea to nurse on the rides! i can't wait for our trip!

great to know....we will be there next week with my 1 month old. I hate the looks i get from people who make faces like im doing something "dirty". I am always respectful and will cover up but people are rude and make a brand new mom who has never breast fed before feel like im doing wrong.

awww, mama, congrats on your little one! and, you are doing something *right* for choosing to breastfeed. good for you! :goodvibes
