WDW Facts! Did you know...

The WDW Railroad Trains at the MK get 750 feet per gallon of gas.

Some of the WDW buses have over 1 million miles on them.

WDW has its own fire station on property!

One of our bus drivers said that you can fit Disneyland into the WDW main parking lot. Don't know how true that is, though!
They actually have four large fire stations around property, and smaller response centers located in each of the parks. This is part of Reedy Creek Emergency Services, which is the emergency operation for the Reedy Creek Improvement District. RCID is essentially Disney's own government, making them responsible for building codes, fire protection, road construction, emergency services, waste removable, water treatment, and many other things, including the authority to tax and issue bonds.

And yes you can fit Disneyland into the TTC Parking lot. However you can also fit the Magic Kingdom into the Magic Kingdom parking lot.

Thanks for clearing that up, Peter!

Warmly,
Daxx's Wife

I thought the trains ran on steam not fuel?

The fact that I got about getting 750 feet per gallon came from the Walt Disney World Trivia book that I got a couple of weeks ago. I would think they have to be talking about the trains in the MK. I couldn't think of anyother trains they would be refering to would you. Unless they somehow use fuel to make steam to operate the trains. :confused3

While the trains do run on steam something needs to be burned to generate this steam. This is commonly coal, wood, etc. In the case of Disney's trains they have been converted to burn Diesel fuel to generate the steam.

Hmmmm, not an engineer huh? :)

Where does the steam come from? No, they don't fill the train up with steam and it goes....

One loads water and fuel. The water goes into a boiler and fuel heats the water. This makes steam which goes into pistons that make the drive rods go back and forth and make the wheels go round.

check out howstuffworks dot com ... and steam locomotive for a great explnation

choo-choo go bye bye .... it is magic :wizard:

On the 101 Dalmations building at ASMo, there are exactly 99 puppies displayed on the railings

That is very low I believe. I know my dad a lowly sales man makes about $330K a year. (He was stupid and left his tax info out on the table when he went away to WDW for a week, and my brother and I of course had to look, I mean come on cover that stuff up if you dont want us to see it!)

WoW, what does he sell? :smooth:

Walt did want Disney to have its own government and he got it. Walt Disney World is in the city limits of Lake Buena Vista. This also eliminated Orlando from obtaining income from property taxes - a continuing local political football. A number of Disney Cast Members (employees) live in Lake Buena Vista. The mayor and the city government are all Disney Cast Members. Disney security is actually a defacto police force! Also, originally, Walt wanted to put in a nuclear power generator to provide electricity. Remember back then nuclear power was considered environmentally friendly. Green Marketplace Now they are doing some great work on environmentally safe processing of sewage for removal of heavy metals. Incidentally, Walt Disney World also has its own airstrip.
