Day 12 ~ July 30, 2009
Sea Day - Beer Tasting and Dinner at Parrot Cay
SO after the CRAZY Disney Dreams show, we caught a little bit of High School Musical 2 on the outdoor big screen and then made our way to Diversions for our beer tasting at 4:00. We had a few minutes before it began so we were going to play some checkers but as soon as we walked into the bar, we saw SusanC and her hubby! (Remember I ran into her in the Animal Kingdom the day before the cruise.)
We chatted with them a while and her husband gave us some GREAT marriage advice....buy DVC!
I swear Disney has hired her husband to sell DVC!! He was really pushing it and was VERY convincing!! We told him that even though we'd LOVE to, we would like to have a house and maybe some kids....no, we're the perfect candidates, according to him! It was great! We really are seriously thinking about it...for the future though!
But, he actually did leave us with some TRUE marriage advice, which we really appreciated. He told us to always remember that when work, kids, life in general gets in the way, to always take time to spend together!
We made our way to our seats for the tasting and sat with a French woman and her son. Our instructor was Yelena again!
Tom thought the beer was delicious!
OH, I almost forgot! There was a group of unsupervised children in the bar during our beer tasting. They were probably between 8 - 12 years old. They were sitting at the table playing games but they were loud and distracting. Even Yelena was getting bothered by them because she kept having to censor what she was saying for their sake and at one point had the bartender make them all shirly temples to shut them up.
Now first of all, where were they parents? Are kids just allowed to roam free on the ship?? Secondly, can we perhaps put the games somewhere else??? Somewhere a little more family friendly?
Anyway, the beer was good and it was interesting to learn about all the different kinds, although, like the tequilla, I don't remember any of what I learned!
The last beer was a guinness and she had us leave a little in our glass so she could poor some Baileys in it to make an Irish Car Bomb!
After our tasting, we just hung around a while until it was time to get ready for dinner.
It was the Captain's Gala menu tonight, semi-formal. The seas must have been rough tonight because I was starting to feel a little sick.
We both started with the Fresh Fruit Cocktail. (Mmm, that Diet Coke looks sooo good!)
I guess neither of us got a second course because the next pics I have are of the main course.
I got the Fettuccine with Parmesan-Crusted Chicken.
Tom got the Panki-Breaded Pork Envelope.
I can't speak for Tom, but mine was NOT as good as it looked (surprise, surprise).
By this point, I was reeeally feeling sick but I HAD to get dessert because there was chocolate lava cake! I asked for a scoop of vanilla on the side!
Tom got the Amaretto Cheesecake.
It was very easy to take the food to go. They just put a cover right on the plate. I kind of stumbled up to the room and just layed down. I did take some dramamine too. I felt well enough to take a FEW bites of that desset! I HAD to!!
Then it was straight to bed with about the 9th viewing of Coraline. We managed to catch bits and pieces of both this movie AND Paul Blart: Mall Cop MANY times during this cruise!
See, I told you we hardly took any pics that day. It was hard to get creative with photography when we really weren't doing much of anything.
Up Next: Castaway Cay!!
(And hopefully some good news about Jack.
