WDW/DCL Western Caribbean Honeymoon Extravaganza!! DONE!!! - PG 51!!

Great update Nikki!:thumbsup2 I have so enjoyed reading about the cruise experience in such detail and with such great photos!

I'm sorry you had a meltdown - but I totally understand. We plan our WDW months, sometimes years in advance and there is almost a pressure to make sure we have the best time ever when we go over to Florida. It must be even more intense for a honeymoon.

I'm not sure I would be a good cruise candidate - I think Tom summed it up with his comment about being stuck with the obnoxious people you can usually walk past in the parks. As beautiful as it all looks - I would feel trapped!

And the disappointing food!:scared1: Disney IS food to me! We've already planned where we want to eat everyday in WDW next August!:rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about the EPCOT day!

Shari xx

Great update. I am sorry that the cruise was not what you expected, I think cruises are a tricky thing, you either love them or hate them.

Love Minnie in her Cruise outfit, she looks so cute :)

Any news on Jack?

Sorry -- I wasn't here for a few days, and look how much you've updated! First of all, HUGS :hug::hug: to you and Jack. Poor kitty...I hope they're able to find the problem and treat it soon so he feels better and so that he can be back home. I'm so sorry he's not well right now.

OK -- why on earth were there children in the same place as a beer tasting? That's crazy -- there shouldn't have been any children in there!

I noticed all of the chocolate desserts you tried...I'm a chocoholic, too. Gotta have my chocolate...yum!

I'm sorry it rained on your CC day, and I can completely and totally understand your "meltdown" -- I would have had one, too. Things just weren't going the way you had planned and that is hard. And it sounds like you're just not cruise people -- I don't think I am and I really am not in a hurry to try a cruise (although my parents are really pushing for us to go on one with them next year).

So was yesterday or today your first day of school? I hope you have a great school year!

I'm getting so excited for MNSSHP...the girls are trying to figure out what to dress up as...I am trying to decide if I'm going to dress up at all...I don't know!

Love the update! Sorry you had the "meltdown". I can say that we are so much alike. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I have high hopes for all vacations and events in life. Your entry sounds like something I would totally say. So, I am sorry that you had those feelings, but there seems to be lots of good things about your trip---especially the food on the last night!! Looked awesome:woohoo:

Also, that is the best snow white I have ever seen! So cute. Anyways---cant wait to hear about EPCOT! I am sure you felt relieved to be back at "home"!

Love to Jack:lovestruc

I can identify with you on several levels. I have taken 2 cruises in my life. One when I was 13 on some Carribean cruise (total fun when you are 13 by the way!) and a Disney cruise in 2007. I was disappointed a bit in the cruise and was glad we only did a 3 nighter. I don't know what we would have done for longer. It is so confining and I was freaked out by the balcony and my youngest didn't like the kids' club so she kept wetting her pants and she was potty-trained! The entertainment was ok and the food was fine but we couldn't even go swimming because it was so crowded and so were the deck parties. I just didn't feel it and was happy to go back to Disney World the day after it was over.

As for the honeymoon part, well.... I got married 9/1/01. We were in Tahiti on our honeymoon and I was crying (sound familiar??) because it just wasn't what I was hoping for. I was pretty bored sitting in a beach and mad we spent so much money and I had this feeling we had to get home. I wanted to go home and quickly. Then 9/11 struck and we were stuck in Tahiti. You would think it would be great, right? Nope. Work was not understanding (um, I can't get BACK TO THE US). The island and government didn't know how to handle all of us tourists (they did have a ceremony though and the entire population attended - very weird). They were increasing prices on everything because we were stuck on an island and couldn't do a thing about it. They finally had a flight out of there and people were FIST FIGHTING to get on the airplane. My husband was patient and waited and waited. Somehow, he got us on to a flight to Hawaii and it was the worst turbulence ever and no one said a word. We were all scared. Then in Hawaii we had to find someone to fly us back to the mainland. There were soldiers everywhere. Then we get to LAX just in time for a bomb scare. We waited another day (more sleeping on benches in airports) to finally get back home to find out the friends that we had lost (and the people that were ok!). It was horrible, horrible, horrible.

So it isn't just you that feels that way about their honeymoon (or a portion of it). The great news is now every vacation is only a vacation and nothing to live up to :rotfl:

At least you now know that cruising isn't for you. I mean, if I don't like our Carnival cruise, I'll still be thinking, "well, maybe I'll like Disney's..." But I mean, if you don't like Disney's...you know...

Definitely!

I'm so sorry that the cruise did not live up to everything you expected, especially as it was your honeymoon. You are right though, maybe you are just not cruise people and it also seemed like things were just not going your way. Hopefully if you ever attempt a cruise again things will go much differently for you. :goodvibes

Thanks! But I don't think we'll ever attempt a cruise again...

I'm sorry that you still don't know what is wrong with your cat. I hope you at least get some answers soon.

I'm glad your food at least ended on a high note, and I can't wait to hear about Epcot.

Yes, thankfully the food was good on the last night! Epcot was fantastic!!!

aww hunny im so sorry it wasnt what it was cracked up to be for you. I cant wait to hear about your best part of your honeymoon.. you know the part you can share LOL

But im thinking I agree with you somethings arent just for everyone. We did the PARKS and its just not for me.. granted i rode the rides and saw the shows and it was nice, but it just doesnt wow me like for others. for me 1 time is enough. (please no flames LMAO)

No flames at all! To each his own! :thumbsup2

Yes! We're like that with our food too! Already planned where we want to eat him June! That was definitely a major disappointment on the cruise.

Great update. I am sorry that the cruise was not what you expected, I think cruises are a tricky thing, you either love them or hate them.

Minnie was adorable! (As always!)

Kids at beer tasting...still can't explain it! Ridiculous.

Yesterday was our first offical day back with just the teachers. Tomorrow is the first day with students. AWFUL timing! (with everything that's going on with Jack)

I'm also so excited for MNSSHP! I have to put in for my personal days still. Unfortunately, we're leaving the morning after back to school night!

That's exactly what it was like when we got to Epcot...going home!!

You totally win on the bad honeymoon experience!!

I don't remember how far I got with telling your all what's been going on and it's been a HARD couple of days. My first day back (Tuesday) I found out that Jack's leves dropped drastically enough to require a blood transfusion....still no test results. Then yesterday, his levels only went up slightly, even after the transufsion. The doctor basically told me he wasn't doing well and I had pretty much accepted and dealt with the fact that either last night or tonight, we would be going there to have him put to sleep...still no test results.

Then today, my first day with students, I got a message from the doctor that said Jack's levels went UP significantly, which had nothing to do with the transfusion, as that would have been immediate, AND they got the results back that it most likely is an auto-immune disease. (If you remember, that was the ONE that was most treatable.) I figured since he was on the medicine for so long and he didn't seem to be responding, it wasn't working but the doc said it takes a few days and his body is probably finally responding to the meds! They added another medicine, now that they have a better idea of what it is AND we're taking him home tonight!!!!!!

I asked the doctor, "Does this mean he's going to be okay?" and basically he said he doesn't know but it's promising. He'll have to be on this medicine for a while and has to have regular blood tests to make sure he's still responding to the meds but it's MUCH less dire than it was yesterday and I just can't WAIT to get him home!! I just keep trying to get it in my head that's he's still not himself and won't look "right" but I just can't wait to see him!! I'm cuddling with a blanket right now so I can put it in his cat carrier with my scent on it.

He's going to be so pissed at us!!!:lmao:

Wow, what great news, I'm so happy for you and for Jack.:goodvibes I had to put my doggie friend, Gypsy to sleep several years ago & I never got over it. I'm so glad that you won't have to go through that experience.

Nikki this is great news!! At least now you know what is wrong and how to treat it. You are so right, he will be pissed! Isn't funny the attitude they have? You should be able to have a much better day tomorrow knowing he's safe at home waiting for you, and then you'll have the weekend with him. I bet you see a big difference in him by the first of the week. :goodvibes

:yay::yay::yay: so happy that Jack is coming home! It will be so nice to see you happy tomorrow! Hope Jack is happy too!:banana::banana::jumping1:

/in the voice of Dr. House "It's Not LUUUPUS!"

Sorry I couldn't resist when you said auto-immune. I hope that made you smile a little. I actually have lupus, so the Husband thought it hilarious to get me a House shirt that says "We finally have a case of Lupus!" (and yes, I do wear it)

Seriously, though, I am glad your kitty is doing better and hope he's already home with you by the time you read this!

Yes, we had to put Jack's "sister" Kitty to sleep 2 years ago and I still cry about it sometimes.

Thanks! I really hope we do see an improvement. They are really unsure of a prognosis, as this disease is so rare in cats.

If it wasn't the second day of school, I would take off and spend the day with him!!

I don't watch that show. :confused3

What is lupus exactly? Whenever I hear lupus, my first thought is, "I knew someone with Lupus," but then I remember it was just that her last name was Lupus!

Great about Jack:thumbsup2

He will be so happy to come home:goodvibes

He's home!! I think he's in shock. He was very skiddish at the doc's office and was laying his head down a lot on the way home....but as soon as we got in the next town over, he started meowing and tried to get out! Like he KNEW he was almost home! When he got in, he went right to his scratching post, he was probably mad they cut his nails! Then he kind of wandered around a bit.

He's got shaved spots ALL over him! And still had a bandage on his leg, which I tried to get off but I think I need to cut it and Tom and I will have to do that together. After I tried that, he went under the bed and I haven't seen him since!

I'm just so glad he's home! And I hope he takes his medicine without any problems.

Anyone have any tricks on how to get pets to take meds?

Yay for Jack coming home!!! So happy to read this update!!!:goodvibes

I also just read your CC update, and I agree with a previous poster...it really is almost comical!:rotfl: So sorry things didn't work out so well with the cruise. But I can't wait to hear all about your last day in Epcot!:goodvibes

I don't watch that show. :confused3

What is lupus exactly? Whenever I hear lupus, my first thought is, "I knew someone with Lupus," but then I remember it was just that her last name was Lupus!

To explain it VERY overly simplistically, Lupus is an autoimmune disease where your body (immune system) attacks the healthy cells as well as the "bad" ones/viruses.

Symptoms really vary widely depending on how each individual is impacted by the disease, and "where" Lupus decides to attack (Kidneys, heart, skin, etc. Mine actually did something wickedcool with my fat cells once and gave me at least 300 nickel size and bigger lumps all over my body like tumors. Yay Lupus!)

Anyhoo, I wish you could take the day off too to be with your kitty, but I imagine once he gets home he'll probably be doing a lot of sleeping to recover from his "adventure!"~

Oh my goodness! You hear about animals walking miles and finding their way home. It is so amazing to me! So happy he is sleeping...poor thing you know he needs it! It is probably much quieter and smells better at your house ;)

I do not have any cats, but I always wrap my dog's heartworm meds in sliced cheese or turkey. She gobbles it up without realizing their is a pill in it! I am assuming Jack's meds are liquid? If they are, can't give you any advice...sorry!!

Hope your night goes well with your baby home.

If the meds are in liquid form you will need a dropper with the squishy thing on the end you know. You will need to insert it into the back corner of his mouth where it is pointed towards his throat. Hold him by his neck because he will HATE this and try to get away. As you squeeze it he will have no choice but to swallow while doing this smacking, licking combo thing cause he will think he's choking. It will be messy, you will probably get some on you, but the majority will go into him. Cats can be so difficult! Dogs eat anything. Hope this made sense and was of some help. :confused3

He's going to be so pissed at us!!!:lmao:
My cat gets mad at me when I don't see her too.

I moved out of my parent's house in January, and since I can't have pets at my apartment she had to stay with them. Every time I go to see her, and I try to go over once a week, she gives me this attitude. Even with me bringing her food and treats, etc.

I think my mom's glad I had to leave her there though since she's said she's all she has left.

Oh yay I am so glad he is doing so well and that you can bring him home :cheer2:

Give him a  from me :)
