WDW/DCL Western Caribbean Honeymoon Extravaganza!! DONE!!! - PG 51!!

I have to agree with you that Key West is just plain hot and nasty with the sole exception of frozen Key Lime pie on a stick- the only reason I have ever and will ever go to the Keys again for any reason.
I have never found the dessert buffet on a Navigator and believe me when I tell you sister- I HAVE SEARCHED for it:rolleyes1 I, like you, found it by accident.
I think that you are right that no matter how much you read about the experience you don't know for sure until you are there in the middle of it to know if you like it or not. It is really a matter of your individual likes and dislikes.

Wasn't there supposed to be a Pirate night buffett too? I seem to remember reading about that but had no idea about it once on the ship.

Yeah I think that's the thing too. Me and Tom hang out and relax at home A LOT. I'm sure for a lot of people, especially people with children, the cruise is a way to relax in a way that you just CAN'T at home with kids.

Umm, not sure about the kid options. The food this night was also not great. My salad was actually gross. Yes, Palo was fantasic, very different from the other dining rooms, and yes, you do pay a little extra for it.

We don't have kids but the relaxing thing kicks in as you get older. We always needed to be on the go on our vacations and then we hit 40 and now its all about the beach chair and mai tai;)

We booked excursions for every port on our 1st cruise so we would have stuff to do. It worked out great. by the 2nd cruise we knew what to do and did things on our own....well...
we were on the Eastern Caribbean for our 2nd cruise and we discoverd shopping for JEWELRY in the Caribbean. this is an excursion on its own. We dropped some serious money that trip and it was soooo fun !!!

I just read your comment about it being fun to have someone else along and I completely agree that this prob makes a huge difference.

We have cruised all 3 times with my DSis and DBil and having 2 couples really made it a lot more fun. people to hang with, drink with, play cards with, go to dinner with, etc.

I did'n't realize this until I read your comment but I think it really made it a lot more fun for us.

Yeah, we saw those stores in Grand Cayman and it was like my nightmare! I told you...I hate shopping and I especially hate spending money so jewelry stores are not for me!

Definitely!

Yay! I love you guys even more now!:lovestruc

Are you a Buffy fan? We finished watching all 7 seasons and then started back at season 1! And we've got Once More With Feeling on repeat in the car!

The whole family are huge Buffy/Angel/Firefly fans. I love Lost and I've just finished watching BSG with my eldest tonight - we got through several tissues each!

Once more with Feeling is awesome! We know all the words! I feel a Buffy marathon coming on.....:thumbsup2

That's so awesome! I don't know ANYONE else who knows Once More With Feeling! In fact, the other day it was playing in the car and I said to DH, do you think we're the only people in the world listening to this right now? He said stuff like that has HUGE cult followings and he's SURE we're not the only ones!

I never would have thought I would get into something like that but once Tom was a huge fan and once I gave it a shot, it's really so clever, funny, character driven, VERY well-written and smart...and I love it! :thumbsup2

Thanks alot girls, now you've got all those songs from Once More With Feeling going through my head & I'm going to have to find the tape or I'll go crazy singing & the dogs will start to howl.:rotfl: We're big Buffy/Angel fans at our house if you couldn't tell.

I know! I might have to dig out the DVD! We like singing along at the top of our voices in the car - and other places!

Good to know there are like minded people! Loving Disney AND Buffy!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I've got a theory...:rolleyes1

Day 9 ~ July 27, 2009
Sea Day (We actually DID some stuff today!!)

So we woke up in the morning and looked on the Navigator to see where we can go for breakfast. Topsiders? NO WAY! We haven't been to Lumiere's yet....let's go there!

Well Lumiere's was a sit-down and order kind of place.

We ordered a platter with pancakes, a waffle and french toast. We also got some eggs, bacon and hashbrowns.

Okay, are you ready to see what this looked like??

Let's start with the platter. Do you remember my French Toast from Kona? In case you forgot, here it is again. DELICIOUS French Toast!
ry%3D480

Okay now this is what French Toast at Lumiere's looked like.
ry%3D480

In case you're wondering...that's the French Toast on the right...and it tasted worse than it looked. Really, I had one bite and couldn't eat the rest. The is LUMIERE'S for pete's sake! It's FRENCH!

Frozen Shop-Rite hashbrowns anyone?? Fortunately for us, we do like frozen Shop-Rite hashbrowns but we just felt they didn't belong here.
ry%3D480

Oh, here's another view of the French Toast. Seriously, that is what it said on the menu. :confused3 The eggs were really wet, too.
ry%3D480

Overall, it was NOT a good breakfast by any means.

Another thing worth nothing at this point was the customer service. Overalll, the service on the ship was FANTASTIC...almost too fantastic...like to the point of annoying. Like I mentioned before, we kind of like to be left alone. I'll let you know when I need you for something. On the ship (and at this meal in particular) ther servers were like hovering around our table, which kind of made my uncomfortable.

They asked us if we wanted fruit. We said, "No, thank you" and then they brought us fruit anyway. :confused3 I know most people consider that "nice" but I find that rude. Don't ask me my opinion if you're going to do what you want anyway!

I'm sure I'm one of the few people that feel this way and I'm sure all the servers were just doing what they were told and were really trying their best to please us but it was a little over the top! We just don't like that "style" ya know what I"m saying?

We left Lumiere's with our bellies just about as empty as when we arrived, maybe just a few hashbrowns fuller.

We saw there was a tequilla and margarita tasting today so we went to Guest Services to sign up! I had to take a picture of this mural because my friend just got married in June on Block Island!
ry%3D480

Then we walked around some more....
ry%3D480

Tom went back to the room to read and I went up to Deck 10 to get some sun and watch A Bug's Life!
ry%3D480

Tom found me shortly after and we went to our "section" for a drink!
ry%3D480

ry%3D480

At 1:00 we went to the Buena Vista theatre for a presentation of the Top 10 Disney Innovations! This was AWESOME!! Definitely one of my favorite things we did the whole cruise. It was basically just a countdown of things that made Disney stand out and how they advanced the movie industry with their inventions and creations over the years. Some examples were, sychronized sound (they actually played all of Steamboat Willie), the multi-plane camera, things like that. They played clips of movies and interviews with Roy and even clips of Walt speaking about some of these things.

This is why I KNOW that I would NEVER survive on another cruise line! Thank GOD for the Disney parts!!

Up Next: Tasting, BINGO! and dinner...well, actually.....:rolleyes1

Are any of your family reading Buffy Season 8?

I love the musical Buffy episode by the way.

So far I purchased seasons 1-2-3-6 hehe

Nikki, I've fell a little behind with your trip report, but had a chance to catch up, and read with complete interest about CM's searching for things in the ceiling, (what were they looking for anyway?) and you two playing games.

This is why I think I would love a cruise, I would love to lay around all day, and then party at night. 2:00 or 3:00 AM is my usualy bedtime. Though I do like a good nap in the afternoon. Doesn't sound like the schedule really your sleeping style though, and it's a shame they didn't have more adult stuff earlier in the evening for those not wanting to stay up so late.

I hope you did get a chance to see some night shows at some point during the week. Disney Dreams is excellant, as is the Golden Mickeys.

And, going back to your night at AK awhile back, I am going to AK this trip for the first evening EMH I've ever been to there. Assuming my plans don't change again though.

Day 9 ~ June 27, 2009
Sea Day - Tequilla Tasting!!

So after our awesome (adult only) presentation of Disney Innovations at the Buena Vista theatre, we made our way to Diversions for our Tequilla and Margarita tasting.

As you read from the WDW portion of the TR, we LOVE margaritas! BUT I am not good at drinking straight up liquor! I didn't realize that it was more tequilla than margaritas!

Our presenter was Yelena, who was the head bartender at Rockin' Bar D. (Apparently she does all of the tastings because we had her again for our Beer Tasting a few days later.)

Yelena was very knowledgable about how tequilla is made and what the differences are and blah blah. It was interesting at the time but I can't say I really remember anything I learned.

So we started with our three different tequillas. We were told about each one and then drank! I really had to force it down because straight alcohol makes me gag! But I paid for it, so I'm drinking it!!
ry%3D480

Tom checking out the color differences.
ry%3D480

Finally! I was very excited when it was time for the margaritas!
ry%3D480

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

YUM! So I drank my margaritas down and was feeling PRETTY tipsy at this point. BUT we had things to do today!! On to Rockin' Bar D for BINGO! (I had made it a point to wait and buy razors between the proper hours to get my free bingo card!)

I did NOT expect to spend so much money but the woman who asked us what kind of BINGO package we wanted was the presenter from the Disney Innovations presentation we went to earlier, so that was exciting and, again, I was a little tipsy so before I knew it, I had spent $50 on BINGO cards and some machine that I didn't have to do a THING to use, just watch and see if I win.

It was pretty crowded in there but luckily we got a seat at the bar. Can you tell I'm a little tipsy?
ry%3D480

Now who should come to wait on us at the bar but Yelena from our tasting!! GREAT! She'll know exactly what I want! Please get me one of those delicious classic margaritas with the silver patron tequilla!!

Well, let me tell you, that was the BIGGEST and STRONGEST margarita I have ever had in my LIFE!! It was so big, in fact, that when she was pouring it from the shaker to the glass, she kept making me sip it to add more in!
ry%3D480

Tom got a Boddington's, I think...
ry%3D480

Well, the rest of the game was really a blur. The guy sitting next to me at the bar won the first game so I knew I had no shot. What are the odds that two people sitting right next will both win?

Here are some action shots!
ry%3D480

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

After BINGO, I was reeeeally feeling the drinks. We needed to go to the "section!" At this point, I couldn't even sit at a table, I needed a lounge chair! I was able to get a nice picture of my feet, though!
ry%3D480

At this point, it was like 3 o'clock and we hadn't eaten anything since "breakfast." So Tom ran to get some food. BTW, those chicken fingers were AWESOME!
ry%3D480

I don't know why, but I felt like I needed to keep going...so I ordered yet ANOTHER margarita! I have a great picture of me on the lounge chair with my new drink and the look of bliss on my face but....it's the only picture that I let Tom take of me with a cigarette in my hand. (Every other time I made sure it was not in the pictures but at this point, I could've cared less!) I won't post it because I don't want you to judge me!

And that was the last picture we took that day. But what about food porn, you ask? Read on.............

Okay, so after that we went back to the room and I was actually awake enough to play UNO on our verandah! I don't remember who won but probably not me.

So tonight was formal night and all day I was saying, "We HAVE to see the Golden Mickeys!!!!" Seriously, I was talking about it nonstop. We had planned on NOT going to our rotational dining room tonight since we didn't really bring "formal" clothes but I really wanted to see that show....

Well, after Uno...I just couldn't stay awake any longer! Really, I passed out at like 5! I haven't been like that in years! Yelena did it to me!!

At some point, Tom woke me up to tell me that they were going to be showing the Golden Mickeys on TV! GREAT! Except I fell right back to sleep!

Oh well...no show tonight either!

I did wake up around midnight and watched the Pixar channel for a while. I think Wall-E was on. I wasn't awake for too long and soon fell back to sleep until morning.

Up Next: Grand Cayman!

I don't think I'll ever know what they were looking for. It will remain a mystery forever!

Yeah, that would've been perfect for you!

I hope you did get a chance to see some night shows at some point during the week. Disney Dreams is excellant, as is the Golden Mickeys.

We did! You'll hear about them later but we DID make it to some shows. Not the Golden Mickey's though, as I explained in my latest update!

And, going back to your night at AK awhile back, I am going to AK this trip for the first evening EMH I've ever been to there. Assuming my plans don't change again though.

Oh you're going to love it! I definitely recommend everyone getting to AK at night at least once!

:thumbsup2

I can tell you that both my sister and I love it as well. Heck, when I got the CD, my sister paid me so I would let her put it on her iTunes first. :rotfl:

My mom never thought Buffy was a good show either, until she actually sat down and watched an episode. My sister and I always watched it when we were in middle and high school, but my mom thought it was just a teen show. But then I bought the DVDs when I lived with my parents after college, and she actually watched a lot of episodes with me.

I always meant to put on the Once More with Feeling episode with her, and I think it was Easter, since I was telling her it was a musical with a song about bunnies, and bunnies have a lot to do with Easter.
