Hi
Been reading your TR and the first part was so "wonderful" and now the "magic" seems to have gone away for you. So sorry to hear that the "cruise" part didn't turn out the way you "dreamed" it would have. (hey, did you notice I just used the three names of the
Disney Cruise Ships in that sentence?) LOL
But really, so sorry that you spent so much money on a cruise which is not cheap on
DCL for you and your DH to play checkers and to feel lost.
Perhaps taking on planning a wedding and a week at DW and then a cruise was a bit much to make sure you "hit" on all the right stuff!
This was our second cruise and we had the best time, and like Greg and his DW we were running from one thing to the next.
I don't understand how you have been missing the shows??
Did you know to read the navigators each day? This is how we planned what we would do. It's to bad you missed the first show as this was a great way to start the cruise. They had a little bit of everything that would be done during the week. kind of a "preview" As far as the late dinner, we also had it and enjoyed not having to rush to get to dinner each night. We actually had enough time to see the show and relax some place on the ship or just sit on our veranda until it was time for our dinner.
For the adult shows, they all started at 10:15 and we went to most of them with our older sons and had a ball laughing at them. We were usually back to our rooms by 11:00. Yes, there were things for adults that started at 11:00, mostly those were dance parties, but the actual "adult shows" match your mat, or the comedy shows were all at 10:15 and just lasted 45 min.
I hear you on the Key West Day. It was HOT, HOT, HOT. we did as Greg did and walked around a bit grabbed the key lime pie on a stick at blonde giraffe and called it a day. Oh, wait, we did walk to the Southern Most Point and to The Little White House. Of course we took some pics of the bars, etc. But we all agreed, it was fun to see Key West and it would be a blast to go there with a group of friends, but it's not a family place.
Now that I think about it, one of the reasons we had so much fun was that we ended up hanging out with so many cool people on the cruise (including, when it comes down to it, our kids!) (Moet, for example, is right up our alley!)
Why Thank you Greg! Right back at you! I loved when I saw your wife in her EARS!!!
By the way, did you ever see my answer to your question about the green M & M's? I posted it on the meet thread!
We were actually rushed trying to get to beer tastings, fitness training classes, movie show times, galley tours, blah blah blah.
Yes, exactly, there was alot to do, but you have to really read that navigator to figure it all out. I don't know how we did it,but we actually missed the dessert buffet this time around???
So even someone who does read those things can miss stuff!
Anyways, it seems like you guys were almost isolated, even though you knew some people on the cruise. With that in mind, and not knowing what events (tastings, etc.) were happening when, I can see how the cruise could seem tedious and like it was lasting FOREVER!
Have to agree again on this. When we went on our first cruise, not Disney, after we got on board, we were like "ok, now what" we saw people eating and thought "oh, ok, are we suppose to eat now also?" we didn't have a clue!
I would have so loved to see you in your ears...some *ahem* ADULTS *ahem* (using the term loosely!) wear them everywhere on the ship (bless her big heart!):
Agree again! I think you would have gotten a lot of attention if those ears were on.
Sheri (my wife) was actually a bit "pissed" that they gave you nothing! *sigh*.
I agree again, can't believe nothing was done for you, Was it noted on your reservation?
Oh. My. God. (as we say in California). After your experience just getting to the ship, this is just icing on the cake! Oh. My. God.

Loved the story about watching the guys fixing the ceiling. On our first cruise, my husband sat on our veranda for a long time watching a life boat drill. Even took video and pics of it!
Don't feel bad about not finding all the "magic" that everyone else did on the cruise. Cruising is not for everyone plain and simple! just think of how bad it would have been if it wasn't a Disney Cruise!!! Atleast you have your love of Disney still with looking at everything on the ship. On another cruise line you woudn't have even had that, now that would have been a drag!
And I agree with the sauce on the food. You could have asked for it to be on the side and your server would have taken care of that.
It's knowing what to expect and what to ask for I think that makes a cruise extra special for some people.
Enjoying your point of view and glad you are open to expressing it.
But there is just one thing that I found odd coming from a Disney Loving person. I don't remember your exact words, but your comments about getting on the ship not being anything special. Getting on the ship for me was one of my highlights and I even made sure my husband boarded before us so that he could get it all on tape. Did they not announce you and your DH as you walked on??? I just thought that was so special when we walked up and they said "welcome back to the .......family" That marked the beginning our our cruise.
Once again, enjoying your report and wishing you much happiness in your marriage!
