WDW Commando Club

I can confirm that there is definitely a Pirates of the Caribbean replacing Narnia set at HS. When we were there (:sad2: 2 weeks ago) the plywood boards were up around the Narnia "set" with a Pirates map painted on the outer wall of the building. I heard, somewhere not sure where, that they were moving the ACTUAL "BlackPearl" filming ship/prop into that building, sooooo cool pirate: if it's true!

BUT here's the rub...I think it isn't openning until Summer 2013

But, it would be worth the wait for the Black Pearl. A great bunch of movies. Aren't they doing Carland at DHS, or was that just a rumor?

I thought the "Black Pearl" from the film was at Castaway Cay. I guess they have a few of them though since it has been there since the second movie.

AirGoofy, what's Carland? Is that like the Cars area they put up at Disneyland? Or a movie about the comedian?

The Black Pearl would bring me back to WDW, any day of the week! (Although I'm a huge Narnia fan...I think Disney could have done SO much more with the entire Narnia genre)

As for Carland, I think it's wishful thinking at this point, I think it's in the game plan and I did get a "sneak peak" at it when I was in Disneyland last year Nov '11. (again VERY,VERY cool) But even if work has started on it, it'll still be a few years until it would be open

But that really is the best thing about WDW there is always something new!

Yes, one of the "BlackPearl"s is at Castaway Cay but they built a filming set BlackPearl for the battle scenes for Worlds End and that's the one that's going to HS (so not a full ship but the half ship that they used with the blue screen...or something like that;) )

Rumor has it that Carsland would be where the Stunt show & Back Lot tour is IMO it is a strong rumor that may pan out since the person that worked on Carsland has been reassigned and is now at WDW:confused3

From what I understand the main Black Pearl is dry-docked in a bay in Hawaii, only reason I know is one of my friends went to Hawaii in the last year and went on a catamaran tour and got pics of it, he said it was one of the Black Pearls used in the movie:confused3

Found the link regarding "The Flying Dutchmen" at CC and being moved to Hawaii. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2668804 in 2011.

I'm referring to the set they built (not a real ship) that they showed the entire building of in the special features on the DVD of World's End. Yes I'm a Commando, but I'm also a movie-making special-effects geek that watches all the special effects on all DVD's- :3dglasses, yes I'm very weird, should have moved to Hollywood.- it totally drives DH nuts if we're watching a DVD, cause I spend 5 hrs watching the movie, then all the special features and then later I rewatch the entire movie with directors comments. (but that's more than enough self disclosure than you ever wanted to know about me:hippie:)

Anyways it's all rumour at the moment, whatever it turns out to be it will be magical for sure!pirate:

I meant CarsLand, like the one at DL.

I hope they don't take out the backlot tour. I really enjoy that - both the stunt show and the tour.

I think it would be cool to see both the sets of those pirate ships. I liked POTC 3 better than all of them for the ship time. And, that special effects extra scene from the dvd was cool to learn how they did it. I have always loved the water (why do I live in KY) and getting to see the boats on it. As for seeing an actual pirate ship, that would be really cool too, but it would need to be on the water like it belongs.

Funny how we are a few days ahead of everyone else, just saw on It's A Disney World After All that The Legend Of Jack Sparrow will be opened no later than Dec.:confused3

I'm sure we will be seeing info come out about soon in the DisNews

AWESOME!!!!- maybe "coming summer of 2013" was for something else or now that I'm thinking about it maybe it said "coming this summer" and since it was Oct, I read that to mean 2013????

It is cool that we're ahead of the rumour mill!

They do have some kind of Jack Sparrow thing going on during the Limited Time promo, but this is something different since it will be staying permanently:thumbsup2

Yes, this was definitely the permeant thing that is replacing the Narnia walk through.
I wish I had taken a picture of it :headache:, hopefully it'll be open when you go and we can get a first hand report.

I was reading somewhere that it was suppose to have opened during the summer (2012)- and maybe that's what the sign was implying and obviously was delayed until Dec?

Hope the "limited time" thing is the real Johnny Depp at DHS!!!!!:yay:

I also hope they will have some kind of soft opening while I'm there but I'm not counting on it:scared1: Although I will get to check out the Mermaids they added to POTC in the last couple of weeks:thumbsup2

Here's something that might interest some of you, they are now offering frozen beer at the Japan Pavilion :confused3

Frozen beer? That sounds interesting. I am by no means a beer aficionado. I drink Coronas and can do with or without others, but frozen, hmmm, ok.

Corona is pretty good beer to be drinking. Someone went to Raglan Road and asked for a Bud Light equivalent, and the bartender said they had water.
