WDW and Universal. Who wins?

But why is that an issue?

Count up how many areas and attractions, food places and meet and greets there are in DHS for Star Wars. Why is that not something you're comparing to.

If they had plenty of room they may or may not have done that although Hogwarts Express was a fantastic marketing technique. It's still a very in demand franchise. But methinks if they had room in the existing parks and added to it you'd still find issue with it on the basis of "couldn't they use something else". As you said "desperate". IDK it's an odd complaint to have, if you have that one for Universal you should absolutely 100% have the same viewpoint (and stronger IMO) towards Disney.
Star Wars land is one cohesive land in one park. This would be like if Disney put Star Wars in HS, MK, and Epcot. Too repetitive.

Boneyard is still there.
True but Dinoland is on its way out and will be replaced with something else. Boneyard wouldn't stick around. Whether they remake it into a different theme IDK but that type of attraction does not seem the focus for Disney any longer.

To be clear Moana is a walk through water thing with a non-water pathway. Disney categorizes it as an exploration trail, not really a play area for young kids

Now you’re the one stretching. Young kids absolutely will play there. Someone posted in the DVC FB group today that she went to CM preview with her young kids and said they loved it and played in there.

I'm sorry did you just say that Star Wars is one cohesive land??

You've got Star Tours and Tatooine Traders on one side, Launch Bay on another side and then Galaxy's Edge. You've got to be kidding me if you think that there's a cohesive theme going on there.

I don't think Disney would put Star Wars in another park but if they built another theme park what do you think they would do? You bet they would put something Star Wars related in there, why would they not? And if they weren't restricted on Marvel they'd put all the Marvel they could in multiple parks and def. another gate.

I meant it’s in one park. It’s difficult to relocate stuff they built years ago in HS.

At least they don’t force you to pay for two tickets to see all the Star Wars stuff, like Universal does with HP. You can’t even go on Hogwarts Express without having a 2-park ticket.

Um, Disney do use the same IP in multiple parks: Beauty and the Beast at MK, HS and Epcot. Toy Story at MK and HS. Finding Nemo at MK and AK. Frozen at HS and Epcot. Just to name a few.

Also, the story of Harry Potter at Disney Parks is fascinating as Disney were offered it first but were just going to make it one attraction in Fantasyland. When Universal pitched the immersive land, they got the theme park rights and the immersive theme park wars began :D

I said comparing to what I had been talking about. An exploration trail with some interactive features is basically like them redoing the queue for Peter Pan. I don't know what the Dreamworks area is with the description of "themed, interactive play spaces and attractions" will turn out like but it was an off the cuff thought thinking back to what Disney used to have available. If I were to think about it Universal in their existing park and their new park are trying to capture more younger than what they've got and Disney seems to be doing the opposite.

True and sometimes you're able to meet a character at multiple parks!

Disney's Harry Potter "land" would've been the lamest thing ever implemented in a major theme park. Now imagine if THAT was announced today lol

I’m sorry, it just seems desperate on Universal’s part. When Disney reuses things, it fits with the theme. Universal is just randomly throwing Mario together with HP and how to train your dragon.

But you all seem to love it, so good for you! Hope you have fun.

I watched two Universal employees literally yell at customers in HP land. If that’s the sort of experience you’re lauding, have fun.

Disney is no stranger to throwing IP together in their parks. California Adventure is probably the biggest example. That park is great but its theme is a Pixar/Marvel mixture. What do either of those IPs have to do with California?

Minus Sunset Boulevard absolutely nothing in HS relates to the golden age of Hollywood/making movies theme the park used to have.

They rethemed all of HS. Golden age of Hollywood isn’t the theme of the entire park anymore.

California Adventure is a cursed park with an identity crisis. But at least it isn’t Universal, with its surly employees that sneer at customers.

You said land and I don't find it cohesive in the least even with a park when you have the same IP on the other side of the park.

It's totally understandable why they couldn't relocate Star Tours and I don't even care about that but Launch Bay could be removed and placed closer to it or just not have it in a large building such that it is.

You want to complain about Universal just to complain about Universal I get that.

We've already said multiple times about "fitting" in with theming. They do not seem to care as much about that in the past. Do tell me how Guardians fits in with Epcot? It's just Space Mountain with spinning and music, great effects absolutely but an opportunity for them to put Guardians (which isn't as restricted) in a park. Moana with its Poly theme; they could have done a walk through nature trail without Moana as the theme but a poly theme in Epcot makes no sense at all plus you have Poly resort over at MK.

Again it's like people are thinking about Disney of the past, that doesn't exist any longer. Compare it to the Disney of today and what decisions the company is making towards their parks.

Guardians is part of World Discovery. Moana is part of World Nature. It fits perfectly with Epcot’s neighborhoods (World Showcase, World Nature, World Celebration, World Discovery).

It seems like you’re more a Universal fan, which is fine.

Not trying to be snarky in any way (I know that is hard in written form!) but what is the current theme of HS, if it's not movies?

California Adventure is hilarious when you find out that the park's best land is based off of a location in Arizona, not California.

At least Superstar Limo got the axe in all of that update! That would‘ve rivaled Fast & Furious Supercharged for worst attraction of the Disney/Universal Parks

Journey in Imagation with Figment coming in clutch as WDW's worst attraction. It doesn't have the FAMILY so not as good as Fast and Furious, sorry I don't make the rules.

Not even Eric Idle can save that… and I love that Purple Little ….

I'm thinking you're opting to miss the point.

What you're mentioning above is Disney saying they are redoing the front of Epcot to FIT their IPs they want in there. That's the complete opposite of the past and a slap in the face of what the parks actually are. And you side-stepped the "re-using" part, when it came to Universal you're all on them but choosing to ignore when Disney is doing this.
