WDW 2008, just us and the weans - NOW WITH PICS!!!

Well, good morning to you all. What am I doing up at 3am my time you ask. I'd be asking myself the same question. Is my body preparing for WDW time? Possibly. I wish it wouldnt though. I just cant go back to sleep!!! Threw in some laundry and now i must DIS til my sons football game in 4 hours. :lmao:

Have a great day!

No worries

I too am a night owl and can be up till 2am regularly. Di is exact opposite and frankly goes a bit loopy if she is up beyond 11pm!

I am training in advance of my night drive to London to catch our flight to Disney. Its easy to say I will drive right throough the night but I can tell from Di's subtle hints she has her doubts, i.e. the cans of energy drinks she has started stockpiling already...............I have visions that by the end of the roadtrip I will be a wide-eyed dafty

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Ok I'm like Di then! :lmao: :lmao: Because I went to bed about 9pm and I'm up for the morning!!! Dh calls anything after 8pm my bewitching hour. I thought he was calling me a witch for awhile but he said it just means he cannot tell me anything important because my brain shuts down and I wont remember it the next day. :lmao:

energy drinks in the car! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Maybe after 4 cans of Red Bull, a 9 hour drive:drive: and a 7 hour flight I should just head straight to MK and get on the Small World ride for my imminent massive mental breakdown.

It'll be like the Simpson's episode when Homer meets the Johnny Cash Coyote in the desert and starts hallucinating....................or not

Just out of curiosity do Disney use Tazers????::cop:

Just a quick update.
Just booked the car for our trip! :woohoo:
Not anything special - just a 2 door economy. We'll only be using it to mainly drive around WDW so don't need anything too fancy.
Did consider a hummer or SUV, but I worry about the polar bears so I just couldn't do it! I'm very far from a yummy mummy!

Also need to phone Disney Dining to try and see if I can get a breakfast ADR for 'Ohanas with Lilo and Stitch.

Saw on OhioDisneyLover's TR that Sophia had got a load of great photos taken at the Poly, a really good deal, that we could get since we've pre ordered our Photopass CD. It would be great, but I don't know how long it would take - as I've mentioned before our 'darling' children are not the most patient of spirits. We could maybe do it on a weekend when we don't need to worry about running to a park......will definately consider it.

Am also considering trying to upgrade our hotel from POP to POFQ, it's about £270 more, but i don't know. I can't seem to let go from our old trip! :headache:
We have the money saved, but that would mean less money saved for our next trip in 2010 (yes, I have accepted we will be going back then!) POP is a great hotel, and we loved it when we stayed there.

We are planning to spend very little time at the hotel, so should we spend the extra money for what is essentially a hotel with a slide at the pool? The rooms are only slightly bigger, and it's possibly slightly posher inside.......:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Any advice would be gladly received!! I think it's just I had POFQ dangled so close to me and then had it snatched away.....I'm conflicted - please help me in my dilemma!

Hi Di,

The photo session was a 30 minute session and it went by realy fast! The photographer that we had made it fun and we scheduled for early in the morning and we were still able to get to the park at a reasonable hour.:yay:

We stayed at POFQ once and really liked it there. It's on the smaller side and the walk to the food court is relatively short. We also found it to be on the quiet side which is nice when you are exhausted from a day at the parks. I've never stayed at POP so it is hard for me to compare but given the choice and based on all that I have read, I'd stay at POFQ.

Not sure if this helps or not. :confused3

Hi guys!

We just got back from our little weekend to the world and I had to let you know that I thought about you. We made it to MNSSHP and were watching the parade and I started thinking about how great it was. But all of a sudden you came to mind and I got really sad thinking, "they should be here!" But it sounds like your trip will be magical w/o the MNSSHP and hopefully you can do it for the 2010 trip.

Oh, and I had to tell you that I am bad. I drive a large truck with V8 so with every trip to WDW, I'm not helping the environment, but at least it does better then those Hummers.

Weather right now. WONDERFUL!

Hi Sophia,
I think we're definately going to do the photoshoot, Disney said they would honour the $25 cost as it says that on our confirmation email.
I'm seriously considering upgrading to POFQ, will get our travel agent to check the cost tomorrow.
Thanks for your advice!

Hi Alysa,
A kindred spirit! I think it all stems from my childhood - my favourite teddy bear was a polar bear called "Snowy" :goodvibes . I can't help but feel for those polar bears!
I'm trying to persuade DH to let me get a composter for the garden - I'm trying to reduce our carbon footprint.......sez me whose flying thousands of miles across the Atlantic!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi Melissa,
I really need to learn how to multi-quote! :headache:
Thanks for thinking about us  You're the second person to say that to us....it's comforting to think we've managed to have a negative impact on two people attending MNSSHP! :thumbsup2
We'll have a great time there anyway, I've gotten over the disappointment - at least we'll get to see all the Christmas decorations now! :santa: And I'll get to see HSM at DHS! :cheer2:
Tut tut, I dread to think what your carbon footprint is! :sad2: :rolleyes1

I was just reading your response to me, thinking, I don't think the Christmas decorations will be up, then saw the comment from your DH. Actually, I thought that while watching the MNSSHP parade and realized they wouldn't be up. They are putting up the lights in DHS.

Yes, I do have a footprint in the environment, buy have started to recycle and use energy efficient bulbs. DH complains about them, but he can get over it. He drives a V8 also, but we are looking into a little car for him to drive his 45 miles a day one way.

Oh, to multi-quote. Click on the " button on the bottom of the post for each post you want to quote. It will change colors. When you have selected all of the ones you want to, click on the post reply button. Hope that makes sense.

Also, I forgot in my previous post my thoughts on value and moderate. We have stayed at POR twice and stayed this past weekend at ASMu. DH walked in to the ASMu and within 5 minutes said it would be fine for an overnight, but no way would he stay there for a week. The room wasn't much different, but was smaller, no curtain to separate the dressing area and sleeping area. Just one sink with very little counter area.

A good point about the ASMu was the activities were great for the kids. We participated in Beach Ball (an 8 foot beach pool was placed in the pool), and water volleyball. They also had dancing, DS wouldn't participate. Can't believe he is my son. Also bingo, bad mom wanted to do her hair for dinner instead of going to that. They also showed Enchanted at the pool on a big blow up screen. We had dinner reservations so we missed it. As far as I know, POR didn't have any activities like this, or maybe I was going to commando to notice them.

Hi Melissa,
I was wondering about the Christmas decorations, but MVMCP starts the week beg 10th November, so I thought they would put them up for that?
Anyhow, no biggie, at least we're getting to go!
Just ignore me, i go on about the polar bears and carbon footprints, and then fly across the Atlantic for thousands of miles, probably merrily killing polar bears as i go! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I don't know if we can get enough energy efficient lightbulbs/recycling in our house to offset that!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Holiday News Update!!!!

Well, I did it, I phoned our travel agent today and upgraded to POFQ!!!!!
I just couldn't get it out of my head, and, nice as POP is, I just thought - why not!
We've saved really hard for this holiday, and came so close to losing it.....I just threw caution to the wind and went for it (very unlike me!!!!)
If anything, this whole travel company collapse has shown me, is to live life for just now - you never know whats around the corner.....we have the money now......and next year i could get hit by a bus and never get to spend it!
Cheerful aren't I? :lmao: :lmao:
We might never be able to afford to stay there again (travel firms over here are putting prices way up!)
I'll have a panic attack tonight - I never impulse buy! :scared1: :scared1:

So now, we have a pool with a slide - I need you to keep me updated with weather Melissa - it just better be warm enough to use it! :worship:

We stayed at the Port Orleans the year DH proposed to me. It was lovely, you'll adore it. The one thing I remember everyone talking about were the bunnies EVERYWHERE! It was like walking though a Disney movie! And the pool is adorable! The room decor and the architecture are lovely and it is so nice being beside the water! The water launches are great - so relaxing! We could see fireworks from downtown Disney from our window but I don't know if they still do that. Beautiful fiountains everywhere too - so romantic. Great choice!
Have you ever seen Cold Comfort Farm? If yes, you'll understand: Pop? "No Flora. No."
;)

I feel the same as you. We need to enjoy life now while we can. I know of too many people that put things off until retirement only to be unable to do those things once they reached retirement. I feel as long as you can pay the bills its ok. Of course right now its scary with the stock market so vacations seem to be all we can invest in and get some sort of return.

I hope you enjoy POFQ and I think as long as you have a sunny day with little wind you should be fine. That is what I have read about the water parks in the winter. Hey, some of those Christmas decorations may be up since MVMCP starts so soon.

I'm just getting caught up and I'm glad to hear you just threw caution to the wind and booked POFQ! Sometimes you just have to treat yourself, and you and your family definitely deserve it! :goodvibes
