Where are you going?

She's off to NY City with her sister...they're going to a taping of Letterman as well as other fun tourist-in-the-big-city stuff. :cool2:

Had a great chat w/ Jackie last night - lots of laughs.

Now just waiting for TUESDAY!!!

I think we should do this every week...cheaper than therapy ::yes:: My turn to call next time.

Glorious day here today, cool (70), sunny and breezy. Met Peg for breakfast and a movie (Nights in Rodantha) then grabbed a Starbucks and went and sat on her patio to enjoy the lovely day. Now back home and will (perhaps) attempt to do a chore or two.

Loving all the photos!

Ian, thanks for the groaner Tortise pun........:rolleyes1

.

Deborah, beautiful pictures! Is that where you're going in a couple days? I can't believe how much Keith & Olivia changed in just 2 years. Olivia's hair was long! It looks much cuter short now though. :goodvibes

Deb, more beautiful pictures of your area! Did your neighbors find their dog?

They must be very smart, because they taught us. Get it? Taught us? Tortoise?

Sorry Ian, a tortoise is a land animal and these are semi-aquatic turtles....not the same thing at all. It's like an alligator and a crocodile....not the same thing. Sorry!

PS The joke was a little lame too!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Kelly, no $ on Christmas, but I did see DVC points listed somewhere her on the DIS and they were higher than the Med, more in line with Baltic :scared1:

and Good Morning Everyone!

CRAP :sad1:

OK, and one I said I wouldn't post.

But we do look to be enjoying ourselves anyway!!!:rotfl2:

You look so beautiful, but that diet you're on where you share one small bread roll is ridiculous!

Deb, Deborah and Marilyn - You're pictures are wonderful. We loved our day stop in Tenerife. We walked the town.

Ian, good soups: We love, love, love making every kind of butternut squash soups here. And I have beets growing in my garden so I think I'll try the beet soup. PS: http://noonprop8.com/home

I'm sure you know how we will vote.

Thanks Holly.....no dog found yet. She's a 14 year old female German Shepherd named Trixie. She was only missing for about an hour when John talked to them. I'm hoping that she's home by now.

Kelly, we're anxious to find out the cost of the Christmas crusie in 2010 too. We want to know if it's way off the charts or possibly doable. It's an 11 night Southern Caribbean. We were on an 11 night Southern in 2006 and that was our favorite cruise (except for the PC cruise because of all of you guys) so far. We loved all the ports. These ports are different from that one, but it still has Barbados which was our all time favorite island. We loved the people there. They were happy, friendly, caring and fair. Oh, and I got to swim with sea turtles and touch them.....no need to say any more. I was in HEAVEN!

:lmao: We were just about to begin a lovely buffet meal.

We haven't stayed in Tenerife just transferred from the airport to the port to catch the catamaran to la Gomera.

Speaking of our Barbados excursion of swimming with the Sea turtles, I thought I would share a few of my favorite photos:

I found the itinerary here:

http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com

No prices until Tues 10/14. I'm so anxious to find out if it's at all possible because I REALLY want to do this cruise.

I have a ressie number with DU to receive a quote and hold my reservation for three days for me to pay the deposit. I'm hoping it's only $700 like the last 11 night was for two of us in a Cat 6, but I'm sure it'll be more because it's Christmas.

I'm thinking I might have to cancel my B2B Western and only do the Eastern to Tortola in 09 and use my $500 deposit from the Western to help cover the costs on Tuesday. We'll see.

Jackie, I don't want to book thru the DCL website because their prices are always higher than DU. I want to lock in the lowest possible price, so I'm going with DU even if I have to pay a higher deposit now. It's ok because that will be less to pay off later.

well, we won, BUT

omg.......

we got to Gainesville about 11:30am.....game started at 8pm......we were there to tailgate....got all set up, started the grill, etc. Now to understand where we park....Urban Meyer's house (Gator fball coach) is directly across the street, the stadium is about 1/4 or less from there.....we park in a front yard of a house, directly on University Ave....we hang out, watch everyone walk to the stadium and also watch the cars roll in.

This section of University Ave has an intersection.....you can go straight or turn away from the stadium....that's it.

at 1pm yesterday the Carlin family was grilling, drinking, playing games until we saw a car turn and hit a kid on a motorcycle......we saw him FLY off the bike. I can't even tell you....this was right in front of us....Johnny was on the scene ASAP...I was freaked as were the girls. John was so calm and in retrospect would be a great cop, emt or nurse.

Game Day Saturday in Gainesville --- as I am sure where any game is being played --- is the most AWFUL day to get into town -- which is why we go early. The cars were already backed up in both directions before this happened.

Thank GOD he had a helmet on. He was however in shorts and flip flops. The gashes in his legs were so bad we could see bones. He could not move aside from when he began shaking as appearing to go into shock. Thankfully there was a cop in the car lineup as well as two nurses. The nurses were successfull in helping him calm down but little else.

This was a less than 30 mph....it was a green light for both directions and she (the lady in the car) went to turn and he went straight. Oh my god....omg....alll I see is his crumpled body ---- a young probably college student.....and then I hear her wails....just wailing and wailing. And wailing.

In a second so many lives are changed. I don't know if he is ok, we gave our statements and then nothing was in the paper or on any Gainesville sites this am. I did call the police this morning, but they could not release any info....the really BAD thing....DUI, forensics and Homocide were on scene as well. I don't think he had been drinking, not sure why, I just don't think so.

I am really IDK....just so shaken. John was so with it. Getting towels from a neighboring house, ice, etc......as soon as the nurses were on scene John went to traffic cop mode and started moving cars....which when police finally arrived they took over. The ambulance seemed to take forever but due to traffic I can understand. The EMT's were quick once on scene......they got his helmet off and he appeared ok (aside from the blood coming from nose and mouth). They totalled strapped him to the board and were in such a hurry did NOT even shut the doors to the ambulance.

For us, a HUGE damper on the day....HUGE. I could think of little else than this poor kid. Seemingly surreal the house next to us had a party van pull up and a Red Bull party appeared......??? And then, we went down Univ A and did what we do on gameday.

I am just sick, sick. IDK anything and what I found from the GPD site was there was an accident and then an arrest within a hour later at the same address. I wonder if she had been drinking.

Anyway sorry to be a damper but omg......my girls better never get on a bike, EVER.

Yep, it all comes out of the wallet sooner or later doesn't it? The deposit is supposedly $600 per person for ALL cruises over 10 days...at least that's what I've been reading here.

We'll be getting our Baltic quote from DU and I'll probably do an on-line Christmas booking Tuesday AM as a stand-by. If both get booked, I think I'll hold both reservations all they way thru the Tortola cruise, just to see how the future plays out...if you know what I mean.

THEN to top that off....we went in to the game and the people sitting behind us - who someone gave them tickets - were from Sarasota lived close to us and told us our 49 year old neighbor died. He was married and his daughter is 7!!

V, so sorry you had to witness this horrible accident, and so sorry for all involved. What a shame that you cannot find out if the young man is ok. And then your neighbor! :sad1: Oh my. We will put all of these people in our prayers...you and you family also. How are the girls dealing this this? :grouphug:

It does kind of put things in perspective though.....we LOVE our college football also, get very involved, but it is just a game and in the big scheme. :sad2: Glad you won though. :)
