Oops, for some reason I thought when Ian said Sukie's birthday was tomorrow he meant tomorrow!!!(If you know what I mean!!)

Molly is just as she looks, placid and amiable. She sits on your lap and smiles and plays!!!! I'm used to them scrambling down and crawling off and being hard work!!!

It is something about that name, ours was just like that too, hence we had another...he was not like his sister :scared1: just kidding.

I showed my Molly your Molly and she thought she was the cat's meow :goodvibes

Remember they grow up so fast, savor that time on your lap before they outgrow it :thumbsup2

GUESS WHAT I'm not a mass murderer.

Now I have to work

Oh and if any of you were wondering about the special ed class, I'm not doing it. I was worried about it and thought too long and someone applied that had the experience that I didn't. It was meant to be :goodvibes I'm going to take No Child Left behind class so I can have more opportunities.

When do you actually start? And where were you yesterday?

FIrst, Happy Birthday to Sukie!

Hi everyone,

I thought I would post something about the stock market and bank scare. As most of you know, I am a geeky accounting nerd. And to make it even worse, I am a former savings and loan bank examiner. I thought I would ring in with my two cents, which, by the way, it exactly what my opinion is officially worth. LOL.

Anyway, with respect to the banks, and the threat of possible failures, as long as you have your accounts structured in such a way that all deposits are FDIC insured, I would not spend anytime worrying. I know that some of the "talking heads" on the financial channels are chicken little and scaring everybody that the sky is falling, but that is their job, to make people tune in and fear will get people watching everytime!

As for the stock market, it is a long term investment. If you are invested in good mutual funds, and plan to stick it out for the long term, then you will come out of this just fine. It is the people who panic and sell out when the market is low that are really hurt in this market. As a matter of fact, I haven't changed my position and I am still putting the same amount in my mutual fund invested 401K as I always have. I like to think that the stock market is marked down or on clearance and I am getting the shares really cheap right now.

I know this sounds really positive and optimistic but I remember all the financial downturns that we have had in the past and how we rebounded and all was well again after a time. I think all will be well again.

Tammy

I totally agree with this! The worst thing you can do right now is panic. The government is still going to insure everything up to $100,000 in each bank, and the stocks will rebound at some point. Just be patient. The media always makes things out to seem a lot worse than they actually are.

OK, just have to share one more thing. On my way to bed, I was looking in Tyler's backpack because he told me just before he fell asleep that he made something about me today when he was with the special ed teacher. He drew a picture of me, I think I'm in front of a stove, not sure, his pictures are horrible to figure out, and it says, "Mom is cooking". :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: POOR KID IS FANTASIZING! I'll have to ask him in the morning exactly WHAT I'm "cooking" and based on his answer, maybe I'll find out that the picture is of me in front of the MICROWAVE! :rotfl: This just made me laugh because of the conversations here about many of us not cooking. ;)

LOL Holly! At least you guys had a nice dinner together. Between work and school, I feel like Olivia and I never get to have meals together unless it's the weekend!!

Not too much to report here, but I thought I'd pop on and check in with you guys! I'm still waiting for more details on those 2010 cruises :)

congrats and I'm sorry, hmmm that sounds strange together huh?

Good morning! Time to check in again. Life has been hectic and I am realistically planning to have my kitchen back together for Thanksgiving (In Canada its Oct 13th). We knocked down some drywall this weekend, and have to knock down another wall on Friday night, so we can get the electrical done on Saturday. By the end of the month the walls should be back together and ready for painting. Ken's mom is coming up for a visit (from Kansas City!), and unfortunately the house will be a disaster and I won't even have a kitchen sink when she's here. :sad2: Oh well, she's really coming to see the kids and not the kitchen so it'll be fine. Ken and I are swamped between the kitchen, the federal election and kids activities. Shaelyn is loving grade 2, loving Brownies (she's only had one meeting so far). Parents are welcome to stay for meetings, but not required to. If I want to stay, then I have to go get a criminal record check done first. We've also got the kids in swimming lessons. I go in the water with Kaleigh for hers. And Shaelyn is also doing a pottery/clay art class and she's loving that too! :)

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY KELLY!

Happy Birthday Sukie!

Gaylean - congrats on your fingerprinting finally sorted out! Enjoy the new job! :thumbsup2

Hi to everybody! Now I have to get back to work :sad2:

:cheer2: :cheer2: I was starting to wonder about you.;)

When do you actually start? And where were you yesterday?

They told me to come Thursday because Brooke is home sick today and they were worried she would still be sick. What other job would do that? I'm so happy. The one thing that makes me mad is that I was suppose to be doing my job by myself and they hired someone AFTER ME and now they are saying we have to share hours. I know it won't be too long before I have another job there so I'm not too mad and they said that another close by school needs people too.

Oh well I'm happy :yay: :yay:

PS Bubba said you should be calling the trade express :confused3

I did this a few weeks ago, and yes, it is a pain. But, I feel warm and fuzzy with those FDIC insurance limits and being under them. Also, spreading money around to different banks will spread the risk also, if one goes down, you have other deposits in banks that are okay.

I agree with the doom and gloom just making it worse. I do feel confident that at some point in the not too distance future, we will see the economy rebound. With the depressed economy, those companies with a less than stellar financial situation will have to sell off assets and or sell out at a reduced price. The stronger companies will step in and take advantage of the fire sale. LOL. There is lots of money to be made in a down market.

This reinvestment will boost the market, and, in the long run, the economy will begin to grow again. At least that is my opinion. Of course, now is not a good time to be retiring, if you have money in the stock market, and not a good time to sell stock. At least this downturn has reinforced the point that we should not invest in individual stocks.

I think for us to see a depression like the 30's, the economic policy that has kept us out of a depression since then, would have to stop working completely. It is an interesting question though. What would have to happen for us to fall into another depression? I don't know the answer.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming. ;)

Tammy ... you are my economist hero.

I find it all very interesting.

Perhaps I misinterpreted the comment about analogy with the 1920's that I heard on the radio? Perhaps they were making an analogy between the implosion of the mortgage market today and the implosion of stock margins of the 1920's. That might make more sense perhaps?

Dear Valued Dreams Unlimited Travel Client

This only applies if you booked your reservation prior to March 5, 2008 and your reservation was not paid in full by that date. If you booked prior to March 5, 2008 but your reservation was paid in full prior to that date, the tax increase will not be added to your total.

Dreams Unlimited Travel will be updating all of our client’s reservations in our system over the next few days with the new reservation totals. Once we have completed updating your reservation we will send you an email with instructions on how to access your Client Services area of our site to review your new pricing. We appreciate your patience as this process may take an extended period of time while we make sure all our client’s reservations are updated accurately.

As a reminder, if you booked your reservation on March 5, 2008 or after, this increase was already added to your total reservation price and you will not be subject to the additional increase.
