Just a quick stop...finally got rid of the migraine...about 2 hrs ago. Been sleeping as much as possible since I got home Friday. Normal time frame - if no meds my migraines last 72hrs....with new depression med I can't take migraine med...will need to see if I can take Excedrin Migraine.

Looks like you've given me about 50 pages to read...seems like old times :-)

How are you doing today? Getting adjusted to the new medications will take some time I am sure--I hope it is not difficult and that the new combination works well. :thumbsup2

Jan :earsgirl:

Hello Kaylee. I've missed you and I hope you are feeling well.

Hey Gaylean! :wave2: I'm trying to pop on here more regularly again. I have gotten so used to my sight as it is that I can read again which means I can post again!!! :)

When I concentrate too much on something that involves thinking (like scrapbooking, writing) I stick my tongue out to the side....yet 1 more thing to add to the "she's weird" category :lmao:

Michael Jordan did that when shooting baskets. :cool1:

Not weird at all. A lot of people do something like that, a reflex thing, something they are not thinking about that helps them think about the thing they are doing. Pursed lips and chewing the inside of the cheek are things most people cannot see. Chewing pencils or fingernails are seen.

And Holly:
My Grandma used to say that we each have to eat a peck of dirt before we die. Do you know how big a peck is? 1/4 bushel. That is a lot of dirt.

Jan :earsgirl:

PLEASE DON'T SEND HIM TO MY HOUSE!

Maybe we should rotate Tyler around to get us all NEAT and TIDY!

He could get a job running a housekeeping service somewhere really upscale like a Disney resort! (Oopse, I forgot, he is a Fire-medic. Sorry Tyler )

Jan :earsgirl:

What's the youngest you all have sent kids to summer camp?

My kids went this summer for the first time, Molly 11, Wilson 8. They both loved it. It was also at our church camp. I waited a long time for Molly because I wasn't ready for her to go. I also really liked that they went together. I think having a buddy is a good idea. Wilson would not have done well at 7.

OK, do you want the professional jargon? It reads something like this:

This Alcohol Alert explains, by understanding alcohol metabolism, we can learn how the body can dispose of alcohol and discern some of the factors that influence this process. Studying alcohol metabolism also can help us to understand how this process influences the metabolism of food, hormones, and medications.

Metabolism is the body's process of converting ingested substances to other compounds. Metabolism results in some substances becoming more, and some less, toxic than those originally ingested. Metabolism involves a number of processes, one of which is referred to as oxidation.

Through oxidation, alcohol is detoxified and removed from the blood, preventing the alcohol from accumulating and destroying cells and organs. A minute amount of alcohol escapes metabolism and is excreted unchanged in the breath and in urine. Until all the alcohol consumed has been metabolized, it is distributed throughout the body, affecting the brain and other tissues. etc., etc., etc.,

OK, here's the simplified version:

Jonathan: "Empty calories, no nutritive value."
Kelly: "They want you to clear your brain because it's a CNS depressant that affects your metabolism and ability to process food productively. And it clears your palate to change your eating habits."
Other votes: "They don't want you to have any fun!"

I understand all of this, but frankly I think I have to find a balance that works for me. And now and then I like to have a glass of wine, or a rum and coke, just as much as I like to have french fries or chocolate cake. Those aren't of any good value in my diet either.

If I could travel and or have a personal chef I'd be fine. Remember I'm the one that loses weight on cruises (and any other vacation I'm on for that fact) I have lazy eating habits at home and don't get out and exercise.

I'm hoping the class will offer me the kick start I need to make the lifestyle changes that will last.

Hey Nan, you may find the wish forum really helpful. My friend has been on it for years and has lost about 43 pounds.

I might take a look in a few weeks, for now I'm going to focus on the boot camp and then branch from there. Thanks for the tip :thumbsup2

I'm so happy for you. I hope everything gets better. What happened to my cleaning recipe ;)

well I played twister today for game night :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I think I had boot camp too! We played for hours and my body doesn't like to get all twisted like that and hold my body weight :scared1:

Hi Gaylean...:goodvibes

Just a quick note from TX... arrived safely here in Houston... talk is all about Gustav and where it will make landfall... my sister told me I should go out and buy lots of peanut butter and tuna to have in...:sad2: I don't do peanut butter so I've opted for cold spaghettios and chocolate....

For good or bad... I found out when I checked in today that my flight will supposedly leave here on Tuesday... will see if we leave earlier or not.

Will read some and get some sleep...

HI Marilyn and Deborah!!! :dance3:

Phew, good thing I decided to try and skim posts this am:lmao: :lmao:
Sounds like a plan to me....we have lots of room for guests!!!! :thumbsup2

I have a feeling that DCL will sail out of LA to AK though....I think it would just be too strange to have DCL cruising from here...but I would LOVE it if they did!

Maybe doing longer cruises like they did in the Med?

Holly

Photos of Tyler :thumbsup2

And about mirgraines

I was reading magazine called Woman's Own -

Suzanne Shaw : Botox beat my migraines

The Dancing Of Ice star, 25 tried an unusual approach to treat her headaches.

When Suazanne Shaw began to get throbbing headaches and nausea in 2006, she took drastic action ' I was getting really bad migraines with nosebleeds that came on suddenly', she says.

Her GP suggested Botox, thought to reduce muscle tension that can trigger mirgraines. It sound good, but Suzanne worried about side effects, I had it in my forehead and I thought, "Now apart from once on stage when couldn't frown, her fears weren't realised. And the treatement cured her migraines.

Scottishwee35

Deborah... I did it... first time worked like a charm... migraines went away and so did alot of stubborn muscle spasms I had had for years... the second time, I got horribly sick (with pleurisy because they did my neck and a bit of my back along with my TMJ) That was over 5 years ago and to this day part of my right cheek is still numb. I would thing about it long and hard before doing it anywhere from the neck up...

How was your trip? (Enquiring minds want to know) :thumbsup2
How do you like the DIS-papparazzi following you everywhere? :confused3

:rotfl: Jan ;)

Well Jan... I just got here but the nephew is super happy that we are here and will celebrate his confirmation this weekend and then maybe get out of town really fast if Gustav comes a callin... ;) (it is times like this I would much rather have a blizzard upstate than a hurricane here...)

And I wish I had a certain little green fuzzy butt with me... I do miss him... :thumbsup2

And do you notice there are more pictures of the first kid? Tom's theory is that when there is one kid you have a photographer and a point person. When there are two kids, each is a point person and no one has hands free for the camera.

Jan ::yes::

HA!!!

Try being the fourth kid!!! School pictures if I'm lucky!!! The only family pictures we have are of me being pulled in one direction or another because my mother told both my brothers to "hold onto your sister"... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

BTW... my sisters remedy to a hurricane is to make a reservation and fly ANYWHERE else.... This after she was stuck in the last mess with Hurricane Rita...

Love it Kelly!!!!!! :thumbsup2 I am going to steal that (your simplified version)for my weight management courses.......:goodvibes

It's all yours. BTW, I'm finally at the part of my research when I'm going through your presentation. It is really good and is going to be useful to us too.

You are as excited about TV as me ;) Hey doesn't that rot your brain too :lmao:

Unfortunately, I study that stupid research too. :happytv:

U.K. Docs Want Graphic Warnings on Alcohol Packages

Alcoholic beverages should feature the same kind of graphic images and warnings found on tobacco products, according to members of the British Medical Association (BMA).

The Independent reported July 10 that delegates at the BMA's annual meeting in Edinburgh said that images of diseased livers should be displayed on beer bottles and cans and wine and liquor bottles. They also called for images to be posted in bars and for packages to display how many units of alcohol they contain.

The motion in support of the labels was approved by BMA delegates by a wide margin.

I do seem to remember hearing something about that. Do you think that kind of thing actually works? I would like to think people would see the images and take note.

I'm not sure the same thing on cigarettes it has stopped people smoking.:confused3
