ok 3am nothing on tv but ads time to try to sleep again...wish me luck![]()
Things are interesting around here.
The CTA are doing work on the El line behind our house.
(Chicago Transit Authority, I mean the real transit authority and not the rock group ... the Brown Line for those interested, of for real old timers like Jackie, the Ravenswood Line).
They are working in the off hourse, so they start at about 9PM and go until the wee hours of the morning.
This means there is A LOT of noise in back of our house. I don't notice the train but I DO notice this.
The other day, we heard a loud BOOM. It was scary enough that we ran out into the street, only to realize it was the work going on.
I feel bad for the guys who live upstairs (our tenants). The tracks are just about level with their apartment and the noise is incredible. There are signal horns going off all the time as the workmen signal to each other.
It's not bad for us, because our bedroom is in the basement, so the noise is really not all that bad for us.
Plus we can't use our garage at night, because there is equipment blocking us in.
The other night, the guys upstairs left for the gym before the work started and then when they came home, could not get back into the garage.
We have very little choice in this matter. It is what it is.
That is just awful Ian.![]()
How come they can just make all this noise and block your garage like this?
Maybe we should rotate Tyler around to get us all NEAT and TIDY!
He could get a job running a housekeeping service somewhere really upscale like a Disney resort! (Oopse, I forgot, he is a Fire-medic. Sorry Tyler )

Thanks Nan. I would be fine with Tyler going if he had a sib or friend going with him. I doubt he'll do well at 7 either, so next time his dad mentions it, I'll just share my thoughts with him and see how that goes. After all, I'm sure he can't just send him without my permission. My kids went this summer for the first time, Molly 11, Wilson 8. They both loved it. It was also at our church camp. I waited a long time for Molly because I wasn't ready for her to go. I also really liked that they went together. I think having a buddy is a good idea. Wilson would not have done well at 7.
Did you forget to shower?I swear everyone leaves when I come.
OK, refresh my memory....why are you in TX? Is this the work project doing research for the guy you work with? Glad you made it safely.Hi Gaylean...![]()
Just a quick note from TX... arrived safely here in Houston... talk is all about Gustav and where it will make landfall... my sister told me I should go out and buy lots of peanut butter and tuna to have in...I don't do peanut butter so I've opted for cold spaghettios and chocolate....
For good or bad... I found out when I checked in today that my flight will supposedly leave here on Tuesday... will see if we leave earlier or not.
Will read some and get some sleep...
HI Marilyn and Deborah!!!![]()
OK, nevermind my previous post. Now I see why you're in TX. I guess I missed you mentioning that before. Or maybe you mentioned last Friday during the drunken DIS party!Deborah... I did it... first time worked like a charm... migraines went away and so did alot of stubborn muscle spasms I had had for years... the second time, I got horribly sick (with pleurisy because they did my neck and a bit of my back along with my TMJ) That was over 5 years ago and to this day part of my right cheek is still numb. I would thing about it long and hard before doing it anywhere from the neck up...
Yikes! Glad you shared.

Well Jan... I just got here but the nephew is super happy that we are here and will celebrate his confirmation this weekend and then maybe get out of town really fast if Gustav comes a callin...(it is times like this I would much rather have a blizzard upstate than a hurricane here...)
Nan, I hope you're feeling better today.hi ya there over the pond. i'm up late with a sore throat. just can't sleep. i'm having a cup of tea with honey and watching bad tv, hopefully this will work...![]()
Oh shoot, I keep forgetting to go there! I think I haven't been for a month. Sorry everebody!Oooooooh, I've just noticed something on Facebook!!
It's Holly's birthday on Saturday.
Keep it quiet won't you, she obviously doesn't want us to know over here.
OK, I checked out the website and am very pleased (and a bit surprised) to see that it's a Christian camp! And I'm relieved to see that they have a "First Timer" camp that's only one week. BUT, I think I'd insist that Tyler first do either the 3 day "You and Me" camp where one parent comes, or the 4 day Family Camp for his first time. http://www.campwestminster.com/camp_inter.html Then, he'd at least be going to a familiar place next time for the one week First Timer camp.
Is it reasonable for me to tell his dad that?
Check your emails now people... oh not you Ian.
