Wow, it's WAY too hot to do yardwork. It's almost 90F, so I'm calling it quits. I was getting too dizzy out there in the sun. I at least got enough done so that the yard looks decent from the street. That's all that matters for now. Gonna take a quick shower since they'll be here in about 15 minutes, and will tell them, thanks for the offer of help, but that they're crazy because it's just too hot for that today. Now, if they're still here when the sun starts to go down, that's a different story. ;)

Ok... so the latest update is that we are to stay and hunker down...it's only a cat 3 and we don't evacuate with that one... :confused3

The only ones that are evacuating are Galveston, special needs people and inmates from the prison in Beaumont... :rolleyes1

Oh well... :flower3:

Well I guess it is going closer to New Orleans Michelle. You will probably get rain more than anything. Scary though.

I'm with Darrell! I can't eat carrots. They make me gag. Probably because my mom forced them upon me so often as a kid. YUCK!

The topic at next week's WW meeting (which I will miss because I'll be in California) is carrot abuse.

(Actually, it's on abusing zero point foods)

Hi Tammy, good to see you here:goodvibes

When are you cruising at Xmas?

We've decided to do the NYE cruise and take my mom. We are in the middle of trying to plan the whole family at WDW for a few days. Wish me luck finding a place to stay :scared1: I was going to look into renting DVC points for a villa, anyone have info on that they can share with me?

We may have 20+ adults and 3 kids.

A grand villa will sleep 12 that even with the sofa beds.

Pretty expensive. An Old Key West Grand Villa during that season is 162 points for a Friday or Saturday night and 66 points Monday through Thursday.

The going rate seems to be between $10 and $12 a point.

There is a rent/trade sub-board here on DIS under DVC. There's also mouse owners.com (no space between mouse and owners) or dvcnews.com.

I've been showing Planky's TR to my nephew today... :sad2:

He thinks I'm a nutcase...

I told him he knew that long ago!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Just tell him it's his future. Afterall he's from the same crazy family you've been telling us all about lately, isn't he? :lmao:

HE DID IT!!!!!

WILSON TOOK 2nd PLACE!!!!!

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD DAY FOR HIM.

I wish I was there to give him a big hug!!!!

I get to see them in about 3 hours, I think we might make a celebration for him to come home to.

This is the best place he has had in the IKF series. This is the race series that we travel all around Northern Ca for. WOW, such a great day, I'm so proud of him

Way to go SPEED WILSON!

Hello Everybody

I am back now and had a good times at Beach Ballroom but I didn't dance at all:sad2:

Too busy to blether with old friends and teacher also Head Master!! But I enjoyed it.

My brother had surprised too he got a birthday cake from his girlfriend.

Today they took us out to Pennan where the film called 'Local Hero', actor Burt Lanchaster? then went to Crovie to see seaside with small house and cottages with their friends 35 people:thumbsup2 I took photos and they are having bbq party at 4 pm at their house but we left and drove home as it take 4 hours but we had a good weekend.

Oh flip!!! Now rumours are for going back to the Med. That will please Monica!

Hi Marilyn

I was reading backward pages

and catch your news about Med. Oh dear I have to sitting down with Ian, gulp!!

I will catch up all the news

Tammy - It was lovely to heard from you and sorry to heard that you have depression

Sounds like someone put Z-bricks on there. What do you plan instead?
http://www.z-brick.com/

We put some on a cement foundation-wall in our first house that used to be outdoors until we added a room. Made it look more finished. I wonder if later owners wanted that changed. I never thought about that before....:confused3

Jan :earsgirl:

Yes it is Z-brick (in case Shannon hasn't replied yet). If we ever look at another house and it has the crap on the walls we will not buy the house. Sorry I hate the stuff - especially in a kitchen!

Got most of the bricks off but we have to worry about the adhesive that was used and hopefully scrape it off.

I took out the island counter this morning. Discovered the previous owners put down a new subfloor and lino on top of the old lino around the counters. So we have small sections that are now lower than the rest of the floor where the counters were.

Little project keeps getting bigger. Isn't that the way it always. Time to get back to it as it is halftime in the football game.

Jackie, OMG! :scared1: You're in the no power zone???? You poor thing!

Woody, sounds like you're having a wonderful trip!

Holly, Happy Birthday!

Ian, love the wedding song! And carrot abuse.... tsk, tsk!

Holly and Jan, the camo afghan is very cool!

Kelly, congrats on doing the marathon!

Monica, I got the book right before I left--thanks! And so glad you've got your cabin for Tortola!

Tammy, how great to hear from you! Your plans sound great. As for your depression, given what you and the family have been through, it's not surprising that you're feeling that way. I'm glad to know that you're lurking and keeping up with us! Hugs to you!

Re: carrots--I love 'em cooked! Just steamed is great. Raw is OK too, but cooked is my favorite.

Kamakazies--ahh, what a reminder of college days!;)

Hi Marilyn, Lisa, Deb, Nan, Michelle--and anyone else I may have forgotten! I haven't had much time to read our thread, just skimming and scanning the last few pages.

Yesterday I took a 2 hr. nap in addition to the 10 hrs. of sleep I got the night before! Spent a lot of time unpacking and sorting stuff and dive gear, as well as going through 10 days' worth of mail! Also got my nails done (I have my priorities straight!:thumbsup2 )

Today I started laundry and washing/soaking the gear. It's quite time-consuming to get that stuff all clean, let it dry, then put it away. The living room is still messy but at least I have a path through it now.

I got my pictures downloaded (700+) but haven't gone through them yet.

Today I'm going to a friend's party and then to see Brideshead Revisited.

On the trip out to FL I got away with no extra charge on my one checked suitcase. I'm sure it was over 50# as it had all my gear in it and it felt heavier than when it was packed for the cruise, but I used curbside check in and they just took it without weighing it. BUT...coming back, after doing some shopping, etc. when I checked it in at curb side, the guy weighed it, came back and said, "Lady, if you check this the way it is now, it's going to cost you $100 since it's 75#. If you can take out 5# and get it under 70# it'll only cost you $50.":scared1: So I took a couple of books and my regulator out and put them in my carryon (somehow) and got it down to 68#. I would have been better off with two checked bags ($15 and $25) than one heavy one ($15 and $50), but I didn't really think it through ahead of time. Live and learn.

Cheri,

Please let me know what you think of Brideshead. It's on my list to see.

I've been sticking to SW since they are not layering on charges for bags.

Carrot Abuse

Some WW members can sometimes overdo zero point foods and derail their weight loss.

My personal opinion is nobody got fat eating cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, etc. The time to look at it is if is becoming a problem and getting in the way of weight loss.

If eating lots of zero point foods makes a member happy and they are having success with their weight loss, I say, they keep doing what works for them.

I do feel funny talking about abusing carrots. I feel like cracking up everytime I say it.

My members were laughing today, when essentially I broke into a one-man monologue about having an affair with a bunch of carrots, who insists on calling me at works, and so I then slap the bunch of carrots. "I told you never to phone me at the office."

OK, so I haven't left yet....:lmao:

I considered SW when picking my flights, but they were about $100 more (which would have been a wash with the extra bag charges). That's what my friend from Indy flew out on. The one good thing about the AA flight was that it was a non-stop. But next time I'll probably go with SW, if they still have the same baggage policy.

All this charging for baggage requires a big change in thinking when trip planning now!

Oh I forgot tell you that you know DJ Mike on Magic Cruise, I met him last year and someone told me that he is from my area at Aberdeen so I spoked him and he was surprised and we had a chat. Last May, he remember me and he always smile!!

Well last saturday my friend told me that he is his nephew!! I cannot believe it that he have deaf aunt, strange DJ Mike never mention it:confused3

I looked at my camera and showed her photo of him with my daughter and she said yes, that is him!!

What a small world!!
