In Michigan the court automatically gets involved to enforce child support if you're on public assistance. That's a good thing for the single moms out there. :thumbsup2

That's the way it should work in every state. But Lilly is in Ohio and Zen is in PA and their father is in Kansas. I'm not sure how that's going to work.

Been super busy, as usual when Tyler is with me, so no time to get on here until tonight. Tonight we went to an awesome event called "The Christmas Journey" at a local huge church. Sort of like a live nativity, but it's a half hour walk through the woods, walking through "Bethlehem" and other locations, as you walk through the Christmas story. Real animals, great actors, etc. and the guide leading the way narrates throughout. Then afterwards they provide fresh baked chocolate chip cookes, still warm, and hot chocolate, plus a goody bag for all the kids with candy, cute stickers, and a Christmas ornament to make at home. They also have people from one of our local candy shops, a 4th generation owned place that hand makes candy canes, and they do it right there so you can watch, and of course they have tons on hand to buy! They're 4 for $5, so we picked out 8 different flavors to share. My favorite so far is pina colada. The cotton candy one is pretty good too. :goodvibes

Tomorrow we'll be shopping for the 2 gifts we took off the Christmas tree at church for needy families. I'm hoping to work on cleaning the kitchen some more. Last week I did one section, and it's still spotless, so I'm moving on to another section. Once it's fully cleaned and in working order, we will be making pasties using an authentic recipe from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (where they're known for their pasties). After our wonderful Thanksgiving turkey dinner, Tyler said he still would have rather had pasties instead. :rotfl2:

For dinner tomorrow we will probably do the spaghetti dinner fundraiser at church being put on to raise money for a 12 year old girl's medical expenses as she fights cancer.

Hoping to find time to go see the movie "We Bought a Zoo" because Tyler won 4 free tickets from answering a kids trivia question on the radio. This is the 3rd time he's won. ;)

Sunday there's a family Advent afternoon planned at church which we might go to. Or we might just relax at home for a change. We will wing it and see how we feel when the time comes. :thumbsup2

Sounds awesome.....very busy.....all good things.

The Ship of Thieves Christmas card exchange list has been updated and sent out. If you didn't get one via email, then I'll need to update your email address. This year we have 28 families on our list. We're just growing by leaps and bounds. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

That does make things confusing. Hopefully he'll voluntarily do the right thing.

It has everything to do with growing up and being responsible. I had more responsibility than him when I was a child of only seven. I had a single mom who was divorced so she counted on me mostly to pick up the slack in the house while she worked....cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc. By the time I was 16 I had a job and my own bills and my own car and insurance. Tom is 20 and he has nothing. He has never taken responsibility for himself much less now that he has two daughters. He better do the right thing. He better grow up.

Monica, since I'm sooooooooo behind on the Hawaii thread.....when do we have to pay for our shirts? My order is already in with Val, but I'm not sure when and how to pay her. Enlighten please. Thanks.

BTW, Mon....since I'm not paying for Hawaii until Feb and people are paid in full and booking excursions now, I LOVE the idea of a group luau. It's probably the only way I would get to do one. It will book fast as a DCL excursion.

I was thinking that since we'll be paying late, maybe we won't do any DCL excursions but rent vehicles on each island and explore for ourselves. I would like to snorkel and see some turtles though....so somewhere along the way John has to take me to a beach so I can snorkel off shore.

If I do a luau and snorkel with a sea turtle and maybe see a whale....I'm very happy. That's all I need. The rest we can explore. OH I would like to see a black sand beach. That's got to be awesome.

Nevermind.....Val answered my email to her. PayPal in one week. Good! I'm still on top of things so far. :thumbsup2

I dread final payment date. Especially since it's Christmas shopping time. 2 more paychecks left before PIF date. But fortunately I can take care of my balance with one paycheck. Then I'll get my tax refund a month later and can book airfare with that. All is good! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Fortunately, my PIF is February....but it's also more than just one pay check. So I'm glad it's not due at Christmas. I won't be booking airfare until after PIF also.

Now that the boys are out and going.....it will save me a lot of money every week. BOY were they expensive. I just got $300 off my car insurance because Tom left. It will get better as Kris leaves too. Feeding them alone will save me lots of money. Good! More money to pay for Hawaii cruise.

Deb, this all will work out nicely for you then! :goodvibes:cool1::banana::cloud9::yay::dance3::cheer2:

Hi Deb - I want to say 12/10 :confused3 There were over 100 ordered, so they cost less at $33.50 a piece (plus s&h)

I thought Kris & the kid were staying at the house?:confused3

Decorating for Christmas this weekend is a good idea too. After we move the rooms around, maybe we should decorate.

I'm glad you're doing your stitching again. It looks nice.

Thanks... it's coming along... Had to send to California for one of the colors... as soon as it comes I can finish up... then I have to figure out what to do next... too many projects not enough time...

hahaha.....she better not be a big flirt.

That's ok...I keep calling her Zenida.....so I'll just stick with Zen. haha.

I can't wait to see her first mouse ears with ZEN on it!!!

Yup! It started late afternoon into evening that day, then the next day was a snow day for 100 schools in the area. :rotfl2: Most people had 10 inches, but our local news said we had just under 8. I know, that's nothing compared to what you get, but we rarely get more than 4 inches at a time, so it was major for us. Not anywhere near enough for ME, of course, but we both still loved it. :goodvibes It's halfway melted now though, and will all melt tomorrow and Sunday because it's supposed to be raining and almost 50 degrees both days.

8 inches = late opening... ;)

Hi All!!

How was everyone's weekend??

Mine was good...too short as always.
Sat - did all the errands I was supposed to do (library, post office, Loews & Walmart) then had a nice leisurely lunch at Chili's (was there for about 2 1/2 hrs...luckily the 2 people that tend the bar area know I'm a "regular" so they didn't rush me...even stopped by to chat). Friend Marlene even stopped by there for a visit.
Sun - didn't make it to church like I wanted to (John & Maz recommended 1 to me) cuz I didn't fall asleep until after 2am. Did some :laundy:, cleaned the dishes & part of the kitchen, finished the work stuff I started Saturday & watched tv. Nothing all that taxing.

My big oak tree in the back yard got trimmed up on Thursday....looks really nice now & not scraping any roofs, but my wallet hurts now.

mom said if she ever got to Hawaii... she'd like to see The Arizona at Pearl Harbor...
