Oh Ian!!!:rotfl2: In your defence you weren't too good health wise so excusable!!

I don't think we get anything back if we cancel flights. We have back up ones booked for next week because of all the strikes etc. Not expensive at all and ok to lose the money in the grand scheme of things. If we cancelled them we should be able to get all the taxes back, but the tight scheming low cost carrier charges £40($60) per person to claim back the taxes! Far far more than the refund would be.

Marilyn, you are right. I forgot about it, but that was at the time I had the walking pneumonia. That was when I booked the first flights. I had also forgotten to sign into my SW account which is why they didn't show up.

I cancelled the tickets from the flights I booked in July.

While the tickets are not refundable, I have not lost the funds. The cost of the cancelled tickets can be applied to another trip, provided that the trip happens before July 22 (the date the booking was made).

I am sure we're going to be travelling and can use up the funds.

Well I am finally getting through the loooooooooooooooooooooong list of things to do for our upcoming vacation.

Hair appointment today with colour!! Will do the main packing tomorrow. Have already filled a bag that won't be opened till the cruise hopefully and still have plenty of space and weight for shorts and flat things.

Looking at all the piles and piles of things in the spare room, and the 3 remaining bags I fear a bit of a tussle.

Really looking forward to the trip. Not just the cruise, though that is the main part of course. Folk on the cruise thread are almost as nice as on here so that is great too.

Then of course we get to meet a few of you so that is great too.

Today I realized that it might be time to start giving some thought to our trip in October.

I also realized that for some bizarre reason, I double-booked us on SW to MCO.

I booked flights back in May, forgot all about it (probably because the booking did not show up in my SW account) and booked flights AGAIN in July.

I cancelled the July booking today. So now I have credits that I have to use up by next July.

You could always come and visit us... ;)

Going on the one that charges you to pee?

No, but they are all almost as bad. You get this great price up for a flight, but by the time you have booked you have had to add so many required extras and the total amount is ridiculous.!!

I know... by the time you add the taxes and the fees... it's like renting a car... you know it's going to be alot more....

Well... today Mom and I went to the St. George's Greek Festival for lunch... We have gone to this every year since we moved here. Yummy food (we did lunch because it will be soooo crowded tonight and tomorrow...) Brought some Spanikopida home for dinner... and a couple of the pastries... :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

hot off the press:

DCL accepting reservations for concierge guests
Hi, I had been reading this forum to learn more about the private cabanas. I have a 10/31/10 cruise reserved in a concierge suite and I called the concierge service today with a few questions. To my delight, I was able to reserve a cabana. They are currently taking reservations for concierge only but if space is available, they will open it up to other guests once onboard. There is currently only one tier of service available, and they are calling this their 'soft opening' time so things could change over time.

The price is $499 and includes the host, fruit, snacks, water, soft drinks, sunscreen, fluffy towels, fresh water shower, beach toys, tube and float rental, snorkel gear and a 1hr bike rental. Good for up to 6 people.

I thought it was going to be for EIGHT people.....

.

You don't really think they're going to notice the 30 other people who are going to stop by to visit you??? ;)

I bet they'll be making sure that doesn't happen! Or if they don't the people in the cabana next door will! :lmao:

.

Just had a lovely dinner with Miss Cheri and Miss Peggy Jo...at Mimi's, of course. However, no muffins were harmed during this event. I may regret not brining one home for my breakfast though.

what is this cabana you speak of? as i am a concierge guest on the EBTA in May!!!!!!!

The new cabanas on Castaway Cay...where you been, man? There are 16 (I think) on the expanded family beach and four or five on the adult beach. Mosey over to the DCL website and take a look.

So what did you eat?

And, what on earth is Spanikopida?

Greek spinach pie. The spelling might have thrown you off, you've probably seen it spelled more typically as Spanakopita.

That was one of my mom's favorites...and you're all making me hungry.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Karl,

It's DCL's attempt to squeeze yet more revenue out of existing components of the cruise.

Not that I can blame them, they are after all a business.

When are we sailing with you guys again?

I'm watching the 911 ceremony on TV and remembering that day that I will never forget. I just arrived at work. I was smoking my last cigarette in the car before going inside and I heard about the hit on the radio. I immediately went inside and called my boss and told him to put on the TV. He thought I was joking. I swore to him that I was serious and just do it. He said, "OMG we're under attack." He sent everyone home. He said we should all be with our families at a time like this and to go home. I called John in Newark and told him to just leave the University. I didn't care if they fired him. I told him to get home quickly and as far away from NYC that he could. I called Sandi at work and she got the boys out of school and we all met back home (we were living together at the time). We were just in shock and we were devistated. I will never forget the fear, the frustration, the anger, the sorrow, the shock of it all.

I would gladly do a cabana with six people total on Serenity Beach....it works out to about $83 a person. That's very doable and I think worth it for the pampering and attention that you get....plus you have a place to get out of the sun. It's very worthwhile to me. But I couldn't do it on my own. I could only do it as a share.
