And yep - we loved Hawaii and I never went in the ocean on either trip :lmao:

I agree about the pain of booking onboard - I think last time we just did the - drop the request in the box and then had them send us the info to the cabin so no actual face time with the desk.

Good to know about Hawaii.

Yes, we have dropped the request in the box, but don't you still have to see her to book?

What did they say about your leg Deb?

I will certainly be looking into Hawaii if DCL do actually go, but I also fancy the Eastern Med, and that would be cheaper for us.

The leg is the leg. The infection is gone, but it still keeps weeping and it's very painful. When I go for a doctor visit, the nurse scrubs the surface clean for the doc to get a good look. When they touch it I scream, much less scrub it. I only take half a vicodin and it's not enough. I don't like taking any more, it makes me sick. Then it hurts for 3 to 4 days after the appointment and I try not to take any more pain meds, but sometimes I do. The doctor told me I should get aggressive with it and keep soaking it in chlorine. I came home and soaked it right away and really screamed with pain. So I didn't soak it yesterday. I have to do it today. I dread it because it hurts still. The chlorine cleans it up nicely, but it doesn't seem to make a difference with the weeping.....so I don't know. I have a feeling that it's got a mind of it's own and it's going to do what it wants when it wants and there's not much we can do to change that. This time it's over a year since it has gone away completely. Then even when it does, I know it will only come back again. It's a good think I like this doctor because I have a feeling that he's going to be in my future for a very long time.

Aaaw, sounds horrible Deb. Knowing it is going to hurt so much is awful, but you're a star for doing it anyway.

Hi all!

Vicki, John and Kaylee, nice to see you posting again!

I had an excellent day today! It looked like rain this morning but cleared and turned out to be a beautiful warm and sunny day! I had so much fun golfing :thumbsup2 We had a fun group of people, we played best ball and it still took us 5 hrs to get through 18 holes of golf though  I haven't had this many laughs all in one day for a long time. It felt good :goodvibes Of course I played horribly! I did have best ball three times over the course of the day though! We sat out on the patio when we were finished and had drinks and soaked up the sun. Then we were served a BBQ dinner of steaks and salads. Finished off the night by spending a few hours at a friend's house out in her yard, where she has a lovely pond. It was so relaxing after a busy day.

What an excellent day Kathe. Naturally, you played horribly....that's why you had so many laughs all day long. hahaha.:laughing: I'm so glad you had a great time.

Deb, sending hugs for you and prayers and pixie dust for your uncle :grouphug:

Thanks Kathe, I'll take them. Uncle Teddy is still in ICU. I was arguing with my grandmother and my mother yesterday. I told them that they can't have my uncle. I told them that they had Brian and they weren't getting Unc. I told them that we needed him here with us.

It's so strange the things you do when you're scared of losing a loved one. I paniced yesterday. I called my cousin at work. He's an xray tech in Bradenton Florida. He asked me to please text. He said it's hard to explain to a patient when his cell rings. I found out that my uncle's lungs were filling with fluid. That paniced me. My cousin, Doug, was wonderful. He put my mind at ease when he called me back after he was done with his patient. He got all the hospital info and contacted them. Then he got back to me and let me know that it's not like pneumoneuia. His fluid is building because of his shallow breathing from his 3 broken ribs. This makes me feel a little better. They have him on a respirator.

I can't believe how strong and brave I was for my mom, but what a basket case I am for my uncle. I don't know why.

I'm going to go to the hospital on Long Island to see him this weekend.

Deb - sorry to hear about the pain. Just a month and a half until we see you guys :cool1:

Hi Lisa.....it won't be long now. I'm counting down the days. Does Lila wear tank tees? I got her some nice tink ones. I thought she could do the layered look and wear another tee under. I hope that works. They're really cute. I keep forgetting that it's only 3 days. I have way more than just 3 things. I'm having WAY TOO MUCH FUN buying for a GIRL. I'll have to fill all the pockets of the FE. haha. Of course, Lila has all the gifts....haha. I have to still pick up stuff for the adults. :rolleyes1

That's why I dread doctor appointments....I know that it's a day of pain with many more days of pain to follow. But it is a necessary evil, so we do what we must and we're thankful for drugs, even if we only take a little.

:hug::grouphug::grouphug::hug::hug: to you Deb - sorry that you need to go through all of this crap w/ your leg as well as dealing w/ your uncle. Prayers going out to you & him. Glad your cousin was able to help you out yesterday.

Kathe - sounds like it was a great day :goodvibes

Hi V, Bubba, Nan, Shannon & Ken!

Hi Michelle, Kaz, Maz, Kaylee, Gydell!

Hi Cheri, Jackie, Ian, Lisa!

I'm getting so excited for all the people coming to my neck of the woods soon!

I get to see Gydell, Bill, Brent & Betsy at Chef Mickey's on the 4th of September (830am :scared1:) :cool1::dance3: then may hang out a bit at a park with them too. Not too sure exactly what I will eat on the buffet (really trying to be good) but will plan for it :thumbsup2

I walked 4.2 miles last night w/ Will & Mickey. I'm a tad bit sore today but happy about it.

We met at the bus depot near the parking lot at the Ft Wilderness campground. It's 1.1 mile from there to the Settlement (where we stopped, used the facilities & got some water) before heading over to the Ft Wilderness Resort (1 mile). Stopped there for a few moments (Mickey needed to show his ID at the front desk) then headed back. I wasn't sure I'd make it, but I did :woohoo:

My friend Marlene (who is doing the Alaska cruise w/ me) will be walking w/ me either tomorrow or Saturday. I'm going to Epcot Saturday to say HI to Emily, Jason & her parents who are doing the pin trading event at the World Showplace. Figure I will walk around the lagoon atleast 1 time (1.1 miles if I remember correctly).

Thanks Mon, life is filled with ups and downs....just makes Oct so much more worthwhile. I can't wait for it to get here!!!

Thanks Deb - I'm down almost 11 lbs....must keep it going. Talked my sister out of the 1/2 marathon in February and into the 5k - I KNOW I can do the 5k - maybe the 1/2 in 2012.

Forgot to post - re: Hawaii

I'm in for the cruise - I've been on Oahu & would love to see the other islands w/o having to do the puddle-jumpers in between. Plus I want those sea days. I'd go in May.

Is May the best weather wise?

Here are the averages for Honolulu:
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
Min 66 66 67 69 70 72 74 74 74 73 70 67
Max 80 80 81 82 84 86 87 88 88 86 84 81

Average Monthly Ocean Temperatures in Honolulu
Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
76 76 76 76 78 79 80 80 81 81 79 77

I figure there would be less kids cuz of school.

You could be right. Parents seem to like taking kids out of school at the beginning of the year rather than the end. All depends on the actual DCL dates of course.

TBH, I kinda like the idea of September - but I'm biased as it would be our 30th Wedding Anniversary that month... :goodvibes
