Ok... I just heard... for booking the cruises for 2011... it's $600 per person deposit...

And if that is the case then we are certainly going to have to rethink this through. Weren't planning on having that much of a cash outlay 1.5 yrs before we go. And certainly not at this time of year.

I think they are going to find alot of people feel that way... I can't wait to see what the prices are going to be... If they outprice themselves like they did in Europe... people will switch lines - RCCL goes the same route the same week... for less...

& my mother's gonna be onboard for mother's day again...

I heard the same thing. This is not a good thing. I know it's disney and all, but really. This is absurd. And we were actually thinking of doing b2b's in Aug. But not now.

I'm already researching other options.

:thumbsup2 I will always remember our Mothers day spent at CC.

Ken, you and Shannon must really be re-thinking the b2b. Now that would be a huge deposit. Make one think Disney needs the cash badly.

Oh, and Michelle, I love the new do. You Looks Marvelous Darling.

Oh crap, I won't be able to book on the 28th then. I could only budget $1000 total deposit. Next payday is the 30th and I can book then. Well, I'll just have to take my chances and hope there are rooms left. :guilty:

Holly, just a thought, but I think the deposit for a 15 day might even be higher. Lets hope not.

There are just too many variables going on here. Since so many other people can book a week before me, I might not even be able to get on the PC cruise. If we can't, then I'll look at something else the same 2 weeks since I already have the time off approved.

That would just be crazy! For those of us booking the lowest price category, it would be like paying for almost 1/2 the cruise up front. No way can I do that, I was planning on paying in full when I get my tax refund.

Well, I'll just wait and see and will just wing it. Since I already have those weeks approved off work, I'll find some cruise to go on! :goodvibes

On the deposit front ...

I just went to DCL website and punched in a 7 night cruise for April 2010 jsut to get a basic idea on pricing. Granted things will be different, but it still gives me a ball park to work with.

However, when I got to the stage to put down a deposit, it only asked for $500 TOTAL. Not per person. And yes I did punch in all 4 of us.

So I'm wondering if the deposit required is just going to be $600 per stateroom instead of per person.

It would make a huge difference. Right now at $600 per person for the B2B that would be $4800 for us!!! But if it is $1200, that is much more reasonable.

Also, as Michelle pointed out, we might just book Shannon and I on the ship on the 28th and then add the girls later when we get some more money socked away.

But Ken, that's 2010 and the problem is that it's supposed to change for 2011. :(

:sad2:Howdy all!!!!!
So....DCL is really annoying me, anyone else?! The talk on the boards isn't so great either....

My TA emailed me yesterday and told me that the deposit for Alaska would be 600.00 per person :eek:due immediately . She wasn't sure there would even be a 48 hour window to hold and then pay! And, 949 per person for an inside cabin as a starting price?! Scott and I paid 2200.00 for 4 of us for our Alaska cruise this summer. so, if I were to put down 2400 to hold the room, that seems like it should almost cover the whole room cost! Why should DCL have all that money for almost 2 years when I could really use it right now?
I guess my only hope is that many people are in the same situation as we are financially and so not as many will be booking right away. A girl has to dream, right?!

I just held 2 cabins on NCL for next summer to Alaska (my mom really wants to go and she wants to do the Glacier Bay itinierary not Tracey Fjord) and it cost me 500.00 for both cabins! That makes so much more sense....why is it DCL is trying to price themselves out of the market?

Ok, I will stop whining, just so frustrated :headache::mad: and bummed that DCL's plans and my finances don't mix right now! Just hoping I can still get on the cruises I want without having to pay too much extra down the road!

You are correct, DCL is not allowing the 48-hour hold any more. They require the whole deposit immediately upon booking. At least, that's according to my TA. I'm in the same boat as you and I believe many others are too. But the good news is that because of this new change, I don't expect things to sell out.

I think Disney is screwing themselves again... like they did in Europe...

I bet after a bit - they will be booking at a lower price again - I guess they expect high demand... they're forgetting that other cruise lines will be right next to them for at least 1/2 the cost... :sad2:

That is my hope....that the initial bookings won't be there in the #s they were hoping and they will rethink deposits and cruise costs! Dreaming over here, but stranger things have happened!

Kaylee, I'm convinced that's what will happen. :thumbsup2

Ok... somebody hold me together please...

I just got a call from Michael... he just got out of the hospital... Now I know why I couldn't get in touch with him for the last couple of days... I was afraid of something like this - heart problems... I love the guy but he makes me nuts...

He didn't want to tell me... :sad2::sad2::sad2:

It's OK, he just didn't want to worry you. And since he's OUT of the hospital, he must be on the mend. Hang in there!
