Happy Rebellion Day!
(OK, so I can't do white)

I'm sitting here, starting off Rebellion Day with a nice cup of Yorkshire Tea (thank you Marilyn). Much better to sip it on the front porch then to go throw it in the lake. Besides, it's early and I can't be bothered walking all the way over to the lake.

Speaking of early, I got up so late again today. I slept until 6:30 a.m. again! I feel very lazy.

So, what is everyone doing today? We are going to a 4th of July barbecue later, which will be interesting since it's in an apartment. One of the columnists on Sukie's paper is having the party.

It's a tacky gift party, which I've never heard of anyone doing for the 4th. Perhaps they were thinking of Christmas in July? We bought our present yesterday. It came from the Dollar Family Value Store, and it's a bit of home decor.

Otherwise, we have no plans, no errands, just a lazy day.

I knew exactly which thread I was on.:rotfl: Just thought there were more friends here to help!!! And anyway it is for the Sept 19th cruise, and I don't know anybody over there. Well anybody who posts that is!

You know me. :confused3

Well you have had some busy weekends lately, so enjoy this lazy one.:thumbsup2

We are off for Afternoon Tea very soon - at the home of the Yorkshire Tea makers - Betty's Tea Rooms. Betty's took over Taylors, who make the tea, some years ago.

Now you're just plain showing off.

I used love going for afternoon tea. We used to frequently go the the Mead Tea Gardens in Somerset.

We also used to go for tea on the Bath cricket grounds, plus many other favorite places in the Cotswolds.

I also miss Sunday dinner at the pub at the George Inn in Bathhampton.

I'm just a Cotwolds, Somerset sort of guy.

I'm going to try those other places Ian!!:thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to High Tea at Palo in September, though of course as we know that is really afternoon tea not high tea!!:rolleyes1

Marilyn, you are so right. But then we know that these Americans like to fool themselves into believing that it is.

I always think that it's funny how small the servings of clotted cream are. My expectation is some huge serving of cream.

The serving at the Grand Floridian was even smaller. I wish I had a photo of Sukie's face when the waitress gave him the tiny dish with the tiny dollop of clotted cream! He looked at her with an expression of, "where's the rest of it?"

The cream portion should be bigger than the actual scone!!!

It's a good thing for my waist that I'm not living in the UK anymore!

By the way, I heard a piece on our public radio (sort of like our BBC) the other day that British are not necessarily going away on vacation this year like they used to. The tourist economy has been hit hard in Spain.

They said that high number of British are staying at home for "staycations." Does this mean that Butlins is going to have a comeback?

Spain has been really hit, and also people who bought property our there.

Yes, 'staycation' is supposedly the new thing!!! Hopefully the summer will continue to be kind and the UK hoteliers/B&B owners etc will reap the benefits.

As for Butlins, Pontins and the like I haven't actually heard anything, but I would guess the answer would be yes.

Off to have a browse around about that.

It does appear so.

Thinking about it, I guess a cruise is just a posh Butlins!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Imagine that! The British not going away on holiday. Those poor chippies in Ibiza!

Well, yes, a cruise is sort of like a big posh floating Butlins. Just replace Bobby Butlin the bear with Mickey Mouse.

I have never personally been to a Butlins. I don't think we'd fly over for it.

They also said on the radio piece that US Tourism at home is hurting. More people are opting for "staycations" or doing things closer to home.

At least that's a nice thing about having DVC and an AP. Pretty much everything is now paid for, and domestic flights are not all that expensive. I suppose one could eat in the villa more.

Sukie and I certainly reined in our horns on this last trip, eating most breakfasts in and downscaling to counter service most of the time over expensive sit-down.

Not that I can say that September is quite as modest, but at least the hotel is paid for and the park tickets are paid for.

Marilyn,

Did you and John go and see the new building at AKV when you were down there? Kidani Village?

Interested in your thoughts if you did.

No we didn't Ian. John just doesn't seem interested in staying right out there for some reason so the idea of visiting there never cropped up. We had plenty of time there so we should have really.

OK, John has finally woken up from his nap!:sad2: We should be off soon.

What is it with men and falling asleep at the drop of a hat? You see them on buses, benches, anywhere, and I see one in the chair next to me all the time!!! I'm all for having a power nap every now and again but it really is ridiculous!!
