We had a lovely meal at a wonderful hotel. It is our favourite place to eat, but a bit expensive. Their website had 2 for 1 offer on their Yorkshire Menu, so we thought we would save some money towards our cruises and go for this.

They use local produce - well from Yorkshire, and tell you where the main items come from and distance travelled. They win awards for this menu perticularly.

So for starters I had Yorkshire Feta Cheese Bruschetta with a very tasty salad. John had pea and mint soup. Local peas that is.

We both had the fillet steak(Yorkshire of course) with Yorkshire blue cheese topping, mashed potato cake and veggies of peas, little onions and mushrooms, with some Yorkshire ham. Best steak I have ever eaten.

Desserts. John had Chocolate Brownie with Pontefract Ice Cream. That is mildly licourice tasting as Pontefract is famous for Pomfret cakes, a very soft and yummy licourice sweet(candy!!!). Unusual, but John loved it. I had local grown Strawberry Cheesecake with ice cream and local berries. Oh my!!!

I had a pot of Yorkshire Tea and we shared some home made petit fours.

For half price it was a bargain. Great and attentive service. I think they are working at getting through this recession. I hope they do. It was busy.

No wonder you can't remember which thread you're on... WOW!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

We ran a lot of errands today and did a lot of walking, 11,272 steps for me. Not quite my normal 15,000 but it will have to do.

It's wonderful to have day off. I get to sleep late again tomorrow. TWO nights in a row.

I do hope my WW meetings are better attended. I have been hit hard for 2 Sundays now, first Father's Day, and then Gay Pride Day (the parade came through the neighborhood where my meetings are), and now the July 4th weekend. Because attendance has been hammered, my WW paycheck was way down.

What's wrong with these people? Don't they know I have a vacation to pay for?

Wow that does sound nice. I'm sure the local produce is wonderful. I know I preferred the strawberries over there, and let's not get me started on the cheese!

A very nice South African Rose, and I am keeping Holly company. :lmao:

Is it closed yet?
:rotfl2:Thanks Marilyn! :rotfl: I actually abandoned the old one. I hope it's closed, or I'll worry about whether I missed something! I'd better go back and check.

Well......thanks to the percocet I've done 4 loads of wash, balanced my checkbook, paid bills, prepared and ate a lovely lunch, showered, medicated the wound, changed the bedding and now I'm thinking about a nap. So I'd say I'm feeling pretty good...:upsidedow...:upsidedow...:upsidedow

.
A wound? What did I miss? What happened? Are you OK?

Ian, I hope your meetings pick back up again. I'm sure they will, you're probably right about the drop being because of the 2 events.

We're leaving in 5 hours and my laundry isn't dry, I still have to clean the guinea pig cage, and I can't find the portable DVD player! :scared: Oh...yeah....and there's that neat little thing called SLEEP that would be great to do before an 8-9 hour drive!!!! :headache: No, I didn't get that nap today that I'd planned because by the time I finished mowing, and went to the store for some last minute items, it was time for Tyler to come home. I still have to pack food for the drive too. Maybe I should nap until the dryer stops.

OK, off to clean the stinky guinea pig cage. I hate to disturb their creations from today. They've made lots of tunnels with newspaper and keep chasing each other through the tunnels. :rotfl2: Oh well, making new ones will give them something to do tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Then I'm going to bed and will finish everything before we leave, so I'll get up at 4 instead of 4:30 and we should be on the road at 5am. Have a fun 4th of July everybody who's celebrating!

Drive safe Holly... and have a good time!!!

Holly (and everyone else...) you can sleep well... the other thread is officially closed... ;)

A wound? What did I miss? What happened? Are you OK?

Well, not wound like I was shot....a couple of stiches from my outpatient procedure and some spots we zapped with a lazer :darth:

.

She just wanted to go over to Pegs house and get spoiled... ;)

Ohhh I know... When I had my first surgery, my brother called and asked if he could bring me anything... I told him "Yes... Maggie"... (the dog...) & she came... thought it was great... she got a ride in the car... :thumbsup2

Holly, have a good trip today.

Oh Marilyn, that sounds so yummmmy! I just realized it was 30 years ago that I was in the UK for two weeks in August. The city of York was my favorite spot on the trip (though I did love the Snowdonia area of Wales too).

I don't want anybody to faint....but I actually used my OVEN this afternoon. I can't remember the last time I cooked something in there....it's usually the microwave, toaster oven or the George Foreman grill. I baked a mess of chicken leg/thigh quarters, just seasoned with pepper and paprika, though 90% of the skin won't be eaten in this WW household....just some crispy bits. ;)

Didn't get that nap since I decided to cook....we'll, guess I'll just have to turn in early instead. :confused3

.

York is just down the road from us and a favourite place of ours too. Always has been right from me being a child. Wonderful history.

Enjoy the chicken.

One drink and she totally forgets Tortola... :dance3::dance3::dance3:

No wonder you can't remember which thread you're on... WOW!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I knew exactly which thread I was on.:rotfl: Just thought there were more friends here to help!!! And anyway it is for the Sept 19th cruise, and I don't know anybody over there. Well anybody who posts that is!

Wow that does sound nice. I'm sure the local produce is wonderful. I know I preferred the strawberries over there, and let's not get me started on the cheese!

Strawberries here are a bit hit and miss as we get so many imported ones which can be like bullets!!

Local ones in season are by far the best, and now is the season. Though, John and I find the ones in Florida wonderful!!!

Before we moved here we had a patch of strawberries and they were the best in the whole world.
