No we didn't Ian. John just doesn't seem interested in staying right out there for some reason so the idea of visiting there never cropped up. We had plenty of time there so we should have really.

I didn't care for it all that much. Pretty inside but rather industrial at the back. Not that I'm obsessed with views, but I thought that the non-savannah side was pretty awful.

Marilyn & Ian....thanks for all the fun links...I spent a while at Yorkshire Tea. Loved the commercials! :rotfl:

Good morning all.

Happy 4th of July to everyone. And Happy Independence Day to my US friends.

Last night's football game was a real dud. Looks like I'm in for a long season with my team. They just put in a horrible performance.

As for today, we are heading to Prince George to look at the kayaks I mentioned earlier. Maybe make a decision. Also, we are having a party for my father who had his birthday on Thursday. None of us kids even bothered to wish him a happy birthday on that day on purpose. The question is, how well today was kept a secret from him?

Gonna be taking off in about 45 minutes.

What is it with men and falling asleep at the drop of a hat? You see them on buses, benches, anywhere, and I see one in the chair next to me all the time!!!
It's a skill, perfected over time.

Just back and a lovely afternoon tea!!

Choice of sandwiches. I had Yorkshire Ham, and Egg mayonnaise(not together). Then a good size scone with strawberry preserve and a large portion of clotted cream, followed by 3 small pastries. A fresh fruit tartlet, layered coffee cake, and a lemon macaroon which was scrummy!! All washed down with a pot of tea.

John took a pic on his IPhone, so I might get that on here.:confused3

John just went with the toasted fruit teacake and a vanilla slice, and some elderflower bubbly. On the way back I said to him tha mine was very special but his wasn't special at all. He said.........'every day is special with you':rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We ran a lot of errands today and did a lot of walking, 11,272 steps for me. Not quite my normal 15,000 but it will have to do.

It's wonderful to have day off. I get to sleep late again tomorrow. TWO nights in a row.

I do hope my WW meetings are better attended. I have been hit hard for 2 Sundays now, first Father's Day, and then Gay Pride Day (the parade came through the neighborhood where my meetings are), and now the July 4th weekend. Because attendance has been hammered, my WW paycheck was way down.

What's wrong with these people? Don't they know I have a vacation to pay for?

Nan will have to do without one drink... :scared:

my fear exactly :scared1:

To my US friends.

What is it with men and falling asleep at the drop of a hat? You see them on buses, benches, anywhere, and I see one in the chair next to me all the time!!! I'm all for having a power nap every now and again but it really is ridiculous!!

I should have known that when we made our first vacation travel to Paris (many year ago) that Paul was this type. Every museum we went into he promptly found a bench and slept :scared1: What way is that to have a vacation.....SLEEP WHEN YOU'RE DEAD !!!!!

This afternoon we went to South Queensferry to waved to our mother in law as she is with Fred Oslen Cruise and going away for a week to Norway to see 5 different countries...

However, we saw another beautiful ship as we thought it was Royal Caribbean but we drove down to get closer and asked people turn out it was Crown Princess... Oh what a beautiful ship... Lots of people were there to take the picture... We didn't know that ...

I will upload photos later okay...

I told my husband that I wish one day Disney cruise is sailing under the forth bridge... He said to me in your dream... well wait and see then ha ha

It's a tacky gift party, which I've never heard of anyone doing for the 4th. Perhaps they were thinking of Christmas in July? We bought our present yesterday. It came from the Dollar Family Value Store, and it's a bit of home decor.

I see you've found your source for FE gifts... :sad2:

I'm gonna go down and grab a couple of pretzels - anyone want any?

Well, the QM is not home as of yet... She has made her way down to Jersey with my OTHER brother - it took them 7 hours to get home last night... 2 hours to go 10 miles on Cape Cod... she said NEVER AGAIN!!! (What was she expecting on a holiday weekend...that's like trying to get to the Jersey shore on a Friday night...:scared:) She is staying to attend an 83 birthday party for my Uncle and then she will do fireworks tonight with the family...

I was going to go up to the lake tonight but since I still don't know if I will make it up there next month, I didn't want to face all the questions :headache:

I was going to go and see some 4th of July fireworks, but I have decided to skip the traditional ones and go to the 17th of July ones in Schenectady... :rotfl2: (riverfest...)

The sun is out today but it is only in the '70's... NOT July weather by any chance...

I bought more zuke plants... hoping that the fat butted bunny stays away from these... I'm thinking next year of an electric fence. :scared1::scared1::scared1: (Just think Bill Murray in Caddyshack... :sad2::sad2::sad2:)

Happy 4th everyone!

Ok - I missed the last 50 pages or so of the last thread (darn work has been getting in way :rotfl2:).

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summers :thumbsup2

Drive safe Holly... and have a good time!!!
Thanks! We arrived safely. We didn't leave at 4am.....or 5am.....I just told myself we'd leave whenever we woke up and did not set my alarm. But it worked out. Tyler woke up at 5:30am and asked if it was time to go, so we did. By the time we got on the road, it was 6:20am and we got here at about 4:30pm. It took longer than it should have because we stopped at Fort Boonesborough: http://www.fortboonesboroughlivinghistory.org/

This was AWESOME and Tyler, being the huge history buff that he is, absolutely loved it. The guy who played Daniel Boone was great too. Well worth stopping. We spent over an hour there. Tyler wanted to buy a replica of the rough draft of the Declaration of Independence, so guess what I had to read to him before bed. :headache: Not very easy reading with the handwriting and things crossed off, etc. And he also got a map of the Revolutionary War battlefields.

When we got here, Tyler was in the pool before I even had all our unloaded from the car. ;) We stayed in the pool about five hours! There were tons of people here, lots of food by the pool, and the fireworks were very cool and big and loud! I love how they echo off the mountain behind the house! Finally dragged Tyler to bed at midnight and he was asleep before my laptop even booted up. :rotfl2: I plan on sleeping in tomorrow. I'm sure he can swim with his cousin Elizabeth and the other adults can keep an eye on him. He only slept about an hour on the way here, so he might sleep late too.

I believe the plan for tomorrow is to hang around here by the pool and possibly get the jet skis into the river behind the house. :thumbsup2

Well, not wound like I was shot....a couple of stiches from my outpatient procedure and some spots we zapped with a lazer :darth:

.
OH, OK. Sorry, it was rude of me to ask, I was just worried.

OK, John has finally woken up from his nap!:sad2: We should be off soon.

What is it with men and falling asleep at the drop of a hat? You see them on buses, benches, anywhere, and I see one in the chair next to me all the time!!! I'm all for having a power nap every now and again but it really is ridiculous!!
I'm with John....I love my naps. :thumbsup2
