Well, we're home today. Tyler had a bad headache yesterday morning, but he napped on the way out of town for the pool party, played in the pool just fine, so I figured he was fine. On the way home, he was freezing cold, so I had to have the heat on in the car for him. I didn't think much of it because I was chilly too (just not cold enough to be under a blanket like he was). This morning his head was still hurting, and hurt whenever he moved, so I figured he might have a migraine, called work to say I'd be late to give Tylenol a chance to help him. He felt really warm too, but it didn't register as a temp on our thermometer (low battery I realized later), so a bit later he felt better, had a bowl of cereal, and went to day care. 4 hours later, day care called me at work and wanted me to come get him because he had a mild temp (100F), had the chills, and felt miserable. So then I realized the other things I mentioned above were all related, called the pediatrician on the way to get him, and they said they could see him right away. Took him to the Dr., strep test came back negative, she told me it looks like viral tonsillitis because she's seen lots of it recently, his temp was up to 102 by that point, told me the headache was from the fever and to just give him lots of liquids and keep Tylenol pumped into him.
He has that awful look kids get when they have a fever, the flushed face, half-closed & glazed eyes. Very lethargic, been sleeping most of the time since I picked him up. I suspect we'll be home tomorrow too. At least that will give me time to start a good cleaning. My mom is coming to town to spend the night on Saturday, so the house has to be super clean.
