Very pleasant surprise today. I looked at my pay stub and I have 17 PTO days left for this year.

I can only carry over 10 to next year, which I am going to want to do to cover the family vacation we have planned and also days for the High Holidays, but now that means another getaway is possible.

I have to use those 7 days or I lose them.

Unfortunately, I'm also on a critical project and can't take the days until December.

I may look into another little trip to WDW or possibly someplace else.

Oh Nan, Happy Birthday!

Not exactly the 2 words I wanted to tell you, but they'll have to stand in for now.

back at ya ;) I figure for the $$$ we outta get some benefit for being here  It's 79 now :rolleyes1

do ya have to use them before year end? no way to see if you can take them say in APRIL????

Holly it's worth looking into... and the midweek visit may work - make sure you let them know at school too so they will know of any changes and to look out for Tyler while it's going through to help him through it...

Good point, I'll let them know. But I think it will be better for him because he won't have to try to remember every day what house he's going to after school, he'll know because it would be the same all week. :thumbsup2

The only down side I can see is that you'll miss Tyler if you have to wait a week to see him. But then you said you can do the mid week visits.

I know. I already miss him the 3 days he's gone each week, but I think I'll like knowing I can look forward to a whole weekend with him every other week. We almost never get a whole weekend together (same with his dad), so it will be nice! :goodvibes

We had parent-teacher night for Shaelyn this evening. I wasn't thrilled with it. We finally got the explanation of how things are working with her having 2 teachers. She has one teacher on Monday, Tuesday and then for half of Wed and the other teacher for the rest of the week. She's been in her class for 3 weeks, but its actually only 8 days with each teacher. It was obvious that neither teacher knows her yet. We got the same things we've always been told, she's quiet, listens well, is well-behaved. The one teacher said the only thing she's noticed is Shaelyn is slower than some of the kids so some things are taking her longer, but its fine. Then she said, it could be an indication of problems with reading. The one area Shaelyn has consistently excelled at is reading, but the girl is a perfectionist, and will not guess, if she isn't positive she knows the answer she doesn't answer. Then as we were leaving the other teacher reminded Shaelyn to bring her swimsuit. She doesn't need to bring her swimsuit. Its a grade 3/4 split, and Shaelyn is in Grade 3; its the grade 4's that go swimming.

Overall I'm not thrilled with the jobsplit with the 2 teachers, and am a little concerned that Shaelyn will get little attention which was a problem for her in kindergarten. She was too quiet and well-behaved and didn't speak up for herself, so the teacher would forget her. We worked it out with that teacher, and we'll have to make sure it doesn't happen this year. I did like that they handed out the schedule for what things happen each day, so it makes it easier to ask Shaelyn about her day.

Long post, just rambling on.

The split does not sound like a good idea, kids need continuity. Why does the school do it that way? I'm glad you're right on top of it though. With your close watch and intervention, she'll do better....she's lucky to have you and Ken on her side!

okay, I'm getting off the dis until Sunday. We're heading off to Vancouver in the morning. Hopefully it'll be a peaceful drive and then a fun football game! Have a great weekend everyone.:goodvibes

I can only carry over 10 days into the next year, which I had planned to do. It's the 7 days that I need to use or lose.

There was something I had wanted to go to DL for in November, but that might be the weekend the billing system project I'm on will cut over.

I'm starting to look around for subs for some of my WW Sunday meetings, because I think in the coming weeks I'm going to have to be working weekends too.

Have a great weekend Shannon, Ken and girls!!

We are moving to our villa today. Hopefully we should get some swimming in there. See you later. Have a good day all.

Well today is a very, very good day....I'm home one week from vacation and back to tracking. Today is weigh in and I not only lost the 3 pounds that I gained on vacation, but I lost an additional 2 pounds for a total of 5 pounds lost this week. WOOHOO!!! Now that makes me happy.

I guess that doing WW at home online is working for me....mostly because I have all of you here for encouragement. Thank you, especially Ian. I could not do it without you!

FYI....I had an incredible dessert yesterday. I get the WW English Toffee Crunch ice cream bars....2 points each. I eat one everyday because I get my chocolate fix and my ice cream fix all at once. Yesterday I took a half cup of fresh blueberries in a bowl then cut up the ice cream bar and mixed it in with the blueberries.....it was sooooooo good....for a total of 3 points (actually 2.5 but I always round up) and I got my fruit in there too.:thumbsup2

Hi Marilyn, that sounds so nice. Enjoy! We would love to see some pictures. It's not the same place that you stayed in before is it?:confused3

Yes, the 'something' will be sorry if you can not participate, but totally understands! :sad1:

YOU ALL ARE INVITED to play at Disneyland in five weeks. I'm dragging a carfull of gal pals there on the 7th for my birthday. DLR is letting me in for free, so I'm going. :thumbsup2 We'll only be doing a weekend turn-around...leaving work Friday afternoon and driving over, then Saturday in the park and Sunday a breakfast at Storytellers then a stop at the outlet mall on the drive home.

Thought about having dinner Saturday at Hook's Point, but not sure I want to take time out of the park. Bubba & V...do you have park passes? If not, I will definately plan a dinner outside the park so my West Coast pals can join in! I'd better check and see if Hook's Point is even open, as you can never tell with that restaurant.

Peg and Cheri will be there, as well as two friends from work. Hope there will be a couple of visitors from Chicago too! :grouphug:

Oh that sounds really yummy! I SWEAR I will get the kitchen stocked up this weekend. I did not gain one single pound at WDW or on the cruise, but have gained THREE in the last week and a half. Working all those extra hours the first week back, and not having supplies lead to too much carry out and quick meals....not good. :sad2: So it's back on plan and tracking this weekend. Peg and I are meeting Cheri for dinner tonight at Mimi's and it will be hard to resist a MUFFIN, but I can do it!

::yes:: we have AP's. And I'm also hoping that some windy city folks can make it. It's been awhile since we have seen them. Fingers crossed that it works out.

I really want to go.

Right before I left, I was put on a project that was in trouble and the big delivery date is in November. The project is in trouble and my role is to try to save it. I have already told people that they are going to need to be working weekends and that pushing the date further out is not an option.

It's looking very grim for taking time off, and I'm sort of PO'd because I had my heart set on a fun drive from AZ to DL and a continuos celebration.

However, there is a silver lining of sorts, my company is undergoing great changes. I've known about it since June, but have only shared it with a couple of people.

We are being acquired by another company. I have no idea what this means regarding my job as there is no information available. I have decided to control the only thing I can control, my attitude, which has remained positive.

This project is a good thing for me, because although plunged into chaos, it puts me on a key project rather than working on "softer" things such as strategy.

This project is tangible, and can easily be perceived as such, whereas my previous work was perhaps a little more challenging for the uninitiated to see the value.

I can't afford to "rock the boat." It is even going to impact my ability to lead Sunday meetings, and I have already started to find a sub to take my meetings on a Sunday in November when I know I'll have to work.

Net net, this project is good for me, though may damper my social life a bit.

Do the best that you can do Jackie. It's very hard with long hours and take out food. When you can get back to a regular routine, do the shopping and eating from home....and only have WW food in the house. Then track, track, track. I never eat without tracking and tend to track it before I actually eat it.

I would LOVE to share this with you and all the Left Coasters that I miss so much. But I'm doing a 4 nighter in Jan and it has to be paid for this month. There's no way I could jump on a plane the beginning of next month.

So have fun without me and John and take lots and lots of pictures. I'll be with you in spirit.
