OK, I have to get to bed. Found 3 different pairs of camo winter boots for Tyler to pick from so I can get them ordered and since we have about a week lull in the snow (according to the weather report), maybe we'll get his new boots delivered before more snow comes so he won't have to cram his feet into the ones he just outgrew.

Goodnight all! Loved seeing everybody's pics again today! :cloud9:

Good night Holly

Who do you have to know to get those seats. Man baby, even D'angelos seats aren't that good.

WHOOOSSSHHHHH!!!!!What was that? Oh, it was Gaylean!!!

Whiplash, actually

we have broken open Wii Fit. Not such a great day...Me, Molly and Willie are onthe edge of overweight. Of course we knew that but still....:sad2:

I don't think the kids really got what I've been talking about when I tell them to make better food choices, maybe this will help in that regard.

So I'll see ya in 6 months when I can raise my head from shame again :sad2:

btw, Paul and I bought our tree yesterday. He is trying to get it planted. Sadly the stump was not ground out enough so he is now using a chain saw to cut the old root. I'm glad we are finally getting the tree in the ground. It's a shame that our tulips are getting crushed to make this happen :sad2:

I'll take a shot once it's done

You killed my tulips??? Well, there goes MY spring...

The repeal of Prohibition helped the economy a lot and the crime level. It brought the money back to the country and took it away from the gangsters and bootleggers.

YOU TELL EM G!!!

Some moms would think it is bad to let their son where flip flops with a tux :lmao: :lmao:

But he looked so cute!!!

I'm still here. but I think it is past my bed time. Are you working tomorrow Gay?

I am exhausted.....

Remember I told you we were having a baby shower for MaryAnn.....well someone ran a red light and crashed into MaryAnn's car on her way tot the baby shower. She had her mom, who had just arrived from Trinadad, and her 5 year old daughter.

The ambulence took her to the hospital and they admitted her. She called me and begged me to come be with her....

So...I have been at the hospital all day....just got home...8:05pm.

She is okay but they are not sure about the baby. They are running a 24 hour test on her and they will decide if they will deliver her tomorrow. She is 36 weeks right now.

She told me the ambulence driver saud he would drop her off so she could open her presents and then take her to the hospital :lmao: :lmao: I guess he was trying to make her laugh....

Hope she's ok... what a story she'll have!!!

 Connie

 Holly

 Lisa

and :love2: Gay

HI!!! :yay:

I can do clams as long as they are fried or in chowder.

I'll post the recipe, but you'd have to save all your points for a month to have it... :headache:

Quick post and then I'm back to work on the flooring in the hallway. I've been working on it for 5 hours, and I had to stop for a breather and read some Dis. Probably one more hour and I'll be done. then I'll be :yay:

Nan - I don't think the WiiFit is too accurate for kids. And at least you're not obese like me! I'll be happy to make it down into overweight.

Lisa - What an awful day for you and MaryAnn. I'm sure she'll be okay.

Bubba / Venetia - I like the pics, but why so serious in the Jr High grad pic?

Question for MARILYN and DEBORAH:
Shaelyn has to bring a food dish to Brownies (Girls Scouts) next week from her ancentry. Most of her great-great grandparents were from Scotland and England. Any suggestions on an easy food to take for kids? I was thinking shortbread.

Okay break time is over. I want this floor done before 7pm.

Shannon... I'd let Ken finish the floor... he's had enough relaxation this weekend... :tiptoe:

Black Dog Chowder

(and don't ask me how long it took to get that dog in the pot...):rotfl: :rotfl:

(This is from the Black Dog Tavern on Martha's Vineyard...)

2 oz of salt pork, rind removed. I sometimes substitute bacon. Crisp the bacon and leave in the pan.

2 cups diced onion

1 cup diced celery

3 cups diced potatoes (I use 3 lg cans of diced potatoes)

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp ground black pepper

4 cups shelled quahogs w/ juice (about 6 pound in shells).

I use 4 cans of whole or chopped clams. Save the juice in the cans and add to soup with the potatoes... If extra juice needed I use bottled clam juice.

1/2 cup salted butter

1/2 cup flour

1 1/2 quarts of light cream

Pinch of red pepper flakes

__________________________________________________ ______

Dice the salt pork or bacon in a large pot til translucent.

Add the onions and celery and saute for 5 min.

Pour in about 1 1/2 cups of the juice from the clams and add potatoes and seasonings.

Simmer mixture until potatoes are tender. About 10 min. (if you are using canned potatoes you don't have to wait - they are already cooked... )

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the flour and cook on low heat for 5 min. Stirring often, this is your roux. DO NOT BURN!!!

When the potatoes are tender add the clams to the large pot and simmer for 2 min.

Stir in the roux and continue simmering for another 5 min. The mixture will be very thick so stir often to prevent it from burning.

Scald the cream in a saucepan until bubbles form on the edges and then add it to the chowder base

I serve it w/ oyster crackers, and some paprika sprinkled on top. The BD serves it with a dollup of butter in it...

Sure... they all left and I've got 11 pages to read... What's tomorrow Monday??? :lmao:
