I can't believe I actually WATCHED the game last night (well, the second half). What a great game and a nail biter right up to the last minute!

Holly, are all the TV's they are selling now digital? I can't imagine why the stores would still be carrying analog...but since you don't have cable you MUST have a digital tv or purchase a converter box for any analog TVs in the house. If not....in a few more weeks, you won't get any picture.

Yup, I know all about that, have my card in my purse to get my converter box, but that's another reason I want a new TV, so I won't have to mess with that because I've been reading reports that say even with the box, you'll still have to have a good antenna and I just don't want to have to deal with that, especially since I've known for a while I need a new TV anyway. And since I need a new one, might as well go big, to avoid the urge to upgrade down the road.

I don't think all new TVs now are digital, but it not, they're required now to have a label on it clearly stating so. But I'd never even consider buying one that's not, in light of the new changes.

Renovation update.

Even with the Superbowl "we" did manage to get some work done in the living room.

After we ripped up the carpet and underlay we discovered that the living room was on a different "level" than the kitchen and the hallway. Because we wanted seamless into the hallway that meant we needed to add another subfloor to the living room in order to "build it up" to the same level as the connecting rooms. So Saturday was spent finishing up the painting and installing a new subfloor. (sorry no pics of that event)

On Sunday "we" finally got down to the business of laying the new laminate floor.

Here is a pic of how Shannon spent much of SuperBowl Sunday...

And here she is all smiles with the living room all complete:

I put the "we" in quotes above because, as much as I would like to take some credit for the floor, I really can't. Shannon did the majority of work laying the flooring. I was called in to help cleanup, do some of the notching with the jigsaw and generally just be standing around and getting in the way. Yes I was a Supervisor!

And here is a pic of the hallway which still needs to be completed (as well as the staircase leading to the front door).

On my blackberry, waiting for the doctor. Gretchen threw up all night long and her fever is still high.

They gave us a 10 am appt.

Well, the doc just came back in and she is sterp positive. They did a flu test. That was negitive

Well, at least you know, and she'll feel better very soon with antibiotics. I'm glad I came on to check.

No time to finish catching up, super busy at work, but as I was looking for info on Gretchen, an e-mail from Tyler's dad popped up and I just have to share. I haven't checked it out myself yet, so I hope it's easily found. Off to check now, but here's his e-mail:

Tyler’s photo made it onto LSJ.com (www.lansingstatejournal.com) for his participation in the “Block Kids” program this past Saturday. The LSJ home page has his photo on it and if you click on it brings up 10 photos of the event. He is also on photo two, and is seated in the 3rd row back from the front.

Tyler was given 100 Legos and was told to build something construction related within 45 minutes. There were three class prizes for the school grades 1 & 2, 3 & 4, and 5 & 6 and 1st – 3rd place prizes, and the judges based their decision on the actual project and the child’s description of what it was they build and how it was used. Tyler built an army jail with a door made from a rock that swung from a string. Although he did not win any of the class or grand prizes, he had a great time and received door prizes. The judges spent quit a bit of time with him as he described what he built and how it was used. I think they were pretty impressed with him.

Depending on which Rocky Mountaineer trip you are doing you might get to pass through my town of Quesnel! The Rocky Mountaineer overnights here on its way to Jasper.

Hi Ken,

We are flying in to Calgary and driving via Banff to Jasper to pick up the Rocky Mountaineer. It's following the Yellowhead Route stopping overnight at Kamloops on the way to Vancouver, so I guess we will be quite a bit south of Quesnell which is a shame, but we will from the top of a moutain.

Oh and seeing as how Michelle posted her pics of the snow and I've seen some snow in the UK as well, thought I would post some from here.

These were just taken this morning when I got up. The girls and I (it's a pro-d day at school so the girls are home with me) will go outside later today and do some shovelling and I'll take some more pics then to better illustrate how much snow we have.

Yep you will be going by us to the East as they are taking the more direct route from Jasper to Kamloops on that trip as I see it on their map. We are on their "Fraser Discovery route" And you are taking their "Yellowhead route". You will get to see LOTS of wilderness on that trip as there isn't much for "settlements" out that way.

So the Groundhog Prognosticators do not see any relenting for us Northern dwellers.

Looks like we are in for 6 weeks more of winter!

The USA's Punxsutawney Phil said "The bright sky above me shows my shadow before me, and six more weeks of winter it will be."

Canada's Wiarton Willie said "The sun has peaked, my shadow I see, six more weeks of winter it will be."

Big shock this year!!

For your sake, a rapid thaw like that, might not be a good idea.

Yeah, like winter here stops in March? Try the first week of June! That's when they flip the big switch from cold to hot.

It comes in batches with us. Right now for instance it is 33F outside. Things are already beginning to melt. Long rane forecast seems to have it melting all week as well.

Not sure if I would have called yesterday a "storm" just a large dump. I went out driving in it twice with no real big problems. I guess its just what you are used to.

As Ken will tell you, we do go out. Actually, you acclimate to the climate. I'm sure to Ken and Shannon, 33F feels really mild after the more harsh temperatures they've been having.
