A few shots from around here yesterday... (Bubba... this is the deck we were discussing...still interested??? Cause I can't get my sliding glass door open & you'd have to run out the front door around my neighbors townhouse and out to the deck... (and back again...))

THAT'S WHY I MOVED FROM STERLING!!!!

Deb , good luck with this, I know you'll try hard. I can't believe you've had to endure this for so long, but hoping we all hear that it's finally cleared up for you by the time we cruise together

Kathe

Thanks Kathe....I am trying real hard. YES I must be all cleared up by the time we cruise together again....just 8 more months now. WOOHOO!!!!

I hope Gretchen is better tomorrow. She seems a little beter tonight and asked for Spagetti-O's. So that is what I gave her. If it sounded good to her, I thought she would be less likely to throw it up.

She did say, "I might regret this, if I throw up again!":rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh please, Tallulah is going to LOVE me. All animals love me. The birds fly down from the trees and sit on my shoulder and seranade me. The butterflies land on my fingers like pieces of colorful jewelry.

.

I think the heat is getting to you. You're starting to have delusions that you're Snow White.

 Take care so you can swim in florida this spring and in the ocean in September:thumbsup2

Thanks Lisa....John just made me some mozzarella sticks, leftovers from superbowl food that didn't get cooked yet, anyway....everytime I eat them now I think of Darrell and you.....good memories. For those of you who don't know, we were dinnermates on our cruise and Darrell ordered a plate of mozzarella sticks everynight for dinner and shared them with the table. I always stole one....yum!

We may have to cancel this spring trip to WDW....we'll decide next month. We'll definitely be there in Sept during cruise trip. So far we're still doing a B2B. We'll see how things develop. I'll let you know as soon as we decide.

I was out pulling weeds at 3PM....but just did my tiny front yard, because I got TOO HOT!

.

Yes, we're doing the same thing. Prepping the patio to glaze it while it is warm out.

To my Great Britian friends:

You have made our news here just now. Your snow storm sounds HUGE!! I hope you are enjoying it...they said it is like this only every 18 years!!

So did we! And Lisa, I just got back from the Dr. office too. Z is now on meds for the heavy cough that hasn't gone away since Xmas. The Dr. said they've had a lot of strep this year, not much flu at all. She'll feel better in a day or 2.

Hello Everybody

Oh photos, good to see it... I will catch up the pages...

I am glad that I drove home safety last night without snowing!!!

My husband was in the bar with my brother yesterday to watch Sunderland football, and he had been drinking... I had to drove all the way home from Aberdeen for 3 hours... my bum sore!!!

This morning that we have lot of snowing!!! I relieved that no snowing yesterday....

Kids got exciting this morning and I had take them to school for the meeting...

Now I look at the window, more snowing.... brrrzzz

i want stay home and comfy and don't want to go to work today....:sad2: :sad1:

Scottishwee35

Glad to know you got home safely... how was the rest of the trip?

I know that snow is always a problem over there, because it doesn't happen very often and the counsels just do not have the equipment to remove or salt (when I was there they spread sand which as anyone in a snow belt will tell you is utterly useless).

Just stay safe and warm and I hope John gets out on his flight.

By the way, if you ever want to be a snow bunny, come and visit us in Chicago in the winter.

Useless until the temps go seriously below freezing... then salt doesn't work either...

 Ann & Albert!

Goodmorning my friends. Hope everyone is feeling better today (even those of you who weren't feeling all that bad yesterday)! :lmao:

.

Thanks Jackie...

I would love to visit in the depths of snowy winter. In fact I would love to spend Christmas over there in the snow somewhere, perhaps a quaint wooden hotel somewhere, with Christmas trees and garlands, log fires and all the American ways of doing things. Or is this only in films?

http://www.trappfamily.com/

Ok...it doesn't have Julie Andrews, but it's Vermont...

I've always wanted to do a family Christmas vacation in Vermont....just what you described here. Though, it wouldn't be all that different from the Christmases I DID have in NW Indiana! :lmao: Just like it to be in a LODGE as opposed to the tiny house we grew up in. Hmmmmmm....a lodge not unlike WILDNERNESS lodge at WDW. Ian, can we pretend on day when we are there that it is snowing outside?

.

I was going to suggest that...

When we were at the Grand Californian at DL in May, we sat in the nook on rocking chairs. I'm sure the fire was lit!! We listened to one of the storytellers tell a story too. All we needed was the Christmas tree and some mulled wine and we could have imagined we were in a Christmassy Vermont!

The fire was indeed lit... :goodvibes

Sorry about John's flight. Hope he finds his way back OK. The snow seems to be moving north this afternoon.

This is what it looked like here this morning -

IMG_0131.jpg

We did clear the cars, but they did not get out.

IMG_0111.jpg

Oh! to be back at the Grand Californian again, or even Acapulco:beach:

Albert

Ok...you guys win for today!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Do you want me to send Jay to come and clear your driveway?

Depending on which Rocky Mountaineer trip you are doing you might get to pass through my town of Quesnel! The Rocky Mountaineer overnights here on its way to Jasper.

I see a Dis meet on the horizon!!!

Well, those pictures disappeared in a flash.

Try this one:

Jackie... your eyelashes are different in this picture...

No time to finish catching up, super busy at work, but as I was looking for info on Gretchen, an e-mail from Tyler's dad popped up and I just have to share. I haven't checked it out myself yet, so I hope it's easily found. Off to check now, but here's his e-mail:

Tyler’s photo made it onto LSJ.com (www.lansingstatejournal.com) for his participation in the “Block Kids” program this past Saturday. The LSJ home page has his photo on it and if you click on it brings up 10 photos of the event. He is also on photo two, and is seated in the 3rd row back from the front.

Tyler was given 100 Legos and was told to build something construction related within 45 minutes. There were three class prizes for the school grades 1 & 2, 3 & 4, and 5 & 6 and 1st – 3rd place prizes, and the judges based their decision on the actual project and the child’s description of what it was they build and how it was used. Tyler built an army jail with a door made from a rock that swung from a string. Although he did not win any of the class or grand prizes, he had a great time and received door prizes. The judges spent quit a bit of time with him as he described what he built and how it was used. I think they were pretty impressed with him.

Pretty Cool!

Chuck

I went to check and who pops up first??? :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/...0090131&Kategori=NEWS&Lopenr=901310802&Ref=PH

Hey Holly... you should call the paper and see if they can get you a copy of the picture if you can't copy it off of the website...

We may have to cancel this spring trip to WDW....we'll decide next month. We'll definitely be there in Sept during cruise trip. So far we're still doing a B2B. We'll see how things develop. I'll let you know as soon as we decide.

That will be sad :sad1:, but do whatever you need to SAVE TOROTOLA!

.

Hello everyone. Sorry I disappeared last night. I was at a party you know. It was hard to post anything but I was reading. It was fun.

I have a three day job where I am at school the entire time the kids are in school. I woke up last night at 2:00 am and couldn't get back to sleep. I was so tired at work. The kids were kind of laughing a bit one time and I was afraid I was snoring :rotfl2:

I looked at all the pictures and it is amazing to see all these people that look really familiar :lmao: Nan, you looked great and Paul looks exactly the same. Molly wins for cutest picture by far :goodvibes Deb, you look like Madonna on your wedding day :rotfl2: I loved that era. I showed Bubba and V the pictures of you guys and the only reason they could guess who it was was because they saw who posted it. Connie, you actually look the same but a little older. It's funny how sometimes we change and some of us don't.

Oh and BTW, Jon and I met when we were 18. That picture where I have dark hair was our first month dating. We were friends for 6 months before we started dating. The one where my hair is blond was taken about a year later. I don't know why we look so much older. The picture of the four of us was taken in Hawaii when Ethan was 3 and Brooke was 1. It is sad to see them so young. I miss it. I think I will find one from the 70s too like Ken said :lmao: Now that would be cute.

Renovation update.

Even with the Superbowl "we" did manage to get some work done in the living room.

After we ripped up the carpet and underlay we discovered that the living room was on a different "level" than the kitchen and the hallway. Because we wanted seamless into the hallway that meant we needed to add another subfloor to the living room in order to "build it up" to the same level as the connecting rooms. So Saturday was spent finishing up the painting and installing a new subfloor. (sorry no pics of that event)

On Sunday "we" finally got down to the business of laying the new laminate floor.

Here is a pic of how Shannon spent much of SuperBowl Sunday...
131320.jpg

And here she is all smiles with the living room all complete:
201833.jpg

I put the "we" in quotes above because, as much as I would like to take some credit for the floor, I really can't. Shannon did the majority of work laying the flooring. I was called in to help cleanup, do some of the notching with the jigsaw and generally just be standing around and getting in the way. Yes I was a Supervisor!

And here is a pic of the hallway which still needs to be completed (as well as the staircase leading to the front door).
202505.jpg

We're getting there!!

WAY TO GO SHANNON!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi Ken,

We are flying in to Calgary and driving via Banff to Jasper to pick up the Rocky Mountaineer. It's following the Yellowhead Route stopping overnight at Kamloops on the way to Vancouver, so I guess we will be quite a bit south of Quesnell which is a shame, but we will :wave2: from the top of a moutain.

Albert

:wave2:

Oh and seeing as how Michelle posted her pics of the snow and I've seen some snow in the UK as well, thought I would post some from here.

These were just taken this morning when I got up. The girls and I (it's a pro-d day at school so the girls are home with me) will go outside later today and do some shovelling and I'll take some more pics then to better illustrate how much snow we have.

Our front yard:

Our driveway (after it was shovelled already one yesterday in the middle of the snow dump):
092809.jpg

Hey Ken... what are all those bumps in your front yard???

So the Groundhog Prognosticators do not see any relenting for us Northern dwellers.

Looks like we are in for 6 weeks more of winter!

The USA's Punxsutawney Phil said "The bright sky above me shows my shadow before me, and six more weeks of winter it will be."

Canada's Wiarton Willie said "The sun has peaked, my shadow I see, six more weeks of winter it will be."

Big shock this year!! :(

I think we need to shoot those critters... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I heard on public radio this morning that you had been hit with a storm. Do you get a winter thaw in February like we do? I think our thaw is coming this week. It will be in the upper 40's(F) by the latter part of this week.

For your sake, a rapid thaw like that, might not be a good idea.

we're prepping for ice flows on the mohawk... Jumpin Jacks will be under for sure...

ok, so I have a dr appt tomorrow....I am still sick (thought I was shaking it) and now it's into a cough and sore throat. I am holed up in my office with a shut door. I hope the kids don't get it!

Wow to all the pics of the snow. I can't imagine coming out of my house all winter!

IT'S ABOUT TIME WOMAN!!!

T-shirt and Shorts weather!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

:cool1: :cool1:

It is snowing heavier now, and we are supposed to have another 6" - 12" by morning. it does look nice however!!!

Stay warm Marilyn... and may I suggest some schnaaps for your hot cocoa???

Hi Lisa, glad that you got Gretchen to the doctor today. Hope she feels better quickly.

No, this is not the worst my legs have ever been. They were worse a year and a half ago after mom's funeral when I had to go into the hospital because I had cellulitis.

I like this doctor so much better though. I have more confidence in him. I won't need home care by an outside source. John helps me. He's been doing it for all this time. My brother calls him the wound care specialist.

The one focus I have to get them better is to get rid of the edema. Then they will heal. I need to lie flat so that I can get the circulation flowing. The wound specialist and my GP both told me the same thing. I need to lie flat in order to promote good circulation into my lower extremities....then the edema will go away.

So... will you lay down now???

It's those "lab errors" that have (in part) led to so much research about this subject. The majority of these overdoses and toxic livers are almost all accidental. You'll probably never get the correct answer.

By the way all you snow people - you are making our news here.

We're glad we can entertain you Kelly... we "occasionally" hear about how warm it is there too... :rotfl:

I was out pulling weeds at 3PM....but just did my tiny front yard, because I got TOO HOT!

.

:sad2: :sad2:

Keep talking.

I'd be very careful if I were you, when you come into our house to visit Cheri, Tallulah may very well stick out a paw and try to trip you.

AND I have my windows open AND one of my neighbors is cooking on the grill and the smell is HEAVENLY and I want some STEAK now!

.
.

   I can't find my grill...

AND I went to a movie this afternoon (Bride Wars) AND sat on the patio of Starbucks and had an ICED coffee......

.

What'd you get laid off???? I know... just for the day...

Oh please, Tallulah is going to LOVE me. All animals love me. The birds fly down from the trees and sit on my shoulder and seranade me. The butterflies land on my fingers like pieces of colorful jewelry.

.

see below...

THAT'S WHY I MOVED FROM STERLING!!!!

Thanks Kathe....I am trying real hard. YES I must be all cleared up by the time we cruise together again....just 8 more months now. WOOHOO!!!!

Hey.. head down... on the pillow... come on... you can do it... :thumbsup2

She did say, "I might regret this, if I throw up again!":rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That's my favorite mushy food... I even ordered it once on the Deluxe dining plan at 50's prime time... :thumbsup2 (appetizer - kids portion when they used to have more selection...)

I think the heat is getting to you. You're starting to have delusions that you're Snow White.

:rotfl2:What the heck have you been smokin' today?! :rotfl2:

So all this talk of weather made me go check out or forecast for the week. Today and tomorrow 83 and the next day 80 and the next day showers and 58.
Only in California :sad2: We have to look everyday to see what we should wear.

So did we! And Lisa, I just got back from the Dr. office too. Z is now on meds for the heavy cough that hasn't gone away since Xmas. The Dr. said they've had a lot of strep this year, not much flu at all. She'll feel better in a day or 2.

I just heard on the TV only two states have Flu Alerts so far. Virginia and NJ!!

Gretchen took out her math book and started homework. She must be feeling better!

It is sleeting here now....we are supposed to have winter weather tonight and all day tomorrow. It was 54 degrees here today, but now it is about 20 degrees now!!

I went to check and who pops up first??? :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hey Holly... you should call the paper and see if they can get you a copy of the picture if you can't copy it off of the website...
Oh, I already copied it from the website and printed it for Tyler.

I emailed the link to his principal because she's the one who told us about the event. She sent me a flyer in the mail and told me she thought it would be something Tyler would love, so I figured she'd get a kick out of seeing this. She emailed me back and told me she found out already that Tyler went to the event because he wore a shirt today that he was given (part of his bag of door prizes) and walked up to her this morning, proudly smiling and pointing at his shirt. :thumbsup2 So she emailed the link to every teacher in the school who deals with him, and the special ed teacher read Tyler's dad's email to him and showed him his picture online. He was quite excited! ;)

Where were we one year ago on 5/8?

Love this photo!

Thanks

Will post separate post on this issue.

Thanks (again)

See next post, hope this helps.

Love this pic too!

Thanks

Love this pic and Zoe said to tell Wilson Congratulations!! She loved his winner photo.

I will tell him this, he will like it that she remembers him and said this I'm sure ;)

OK, my friends this may help or may make you more confused. It is a topic I've been working on for a mother's magazine. I put some of my comments in red below. It may take up the whole page... Here is some of my research:

Thank you again, I've copied and pasted this into an email for myself to digest and talk with my doc about. It raised some questions about my mom's meds too. She eats tylenol like candy :sad2: Of course she is 81 and has regular blood work, but I feel better being informed on this stuff.::yes::

And again, SO CUTE!!! But.....where are his shoes?

Hello, we in California like to nibble on our babies toes. I always tried to get the kids to kick off their shoes when they were little because their toes are so cute :p

No time to finish catching up, super busy at work, but as I was looking for info on Gretchen, an e-mail from Tyler's dad popped up and I just have to share. I haven't checked it out myself yet, so I hope it's easily found. Off to check now, but here's his e-mail:

ok I went on the search too, and then of course after I found it I came back and see the links (that I had copied to paste here, but don't need to now) I should know better with this techno crowd.

That was really cool Holly, for sure get a printout of that, even if it's a print page on regular paper to save for Tyler's babybook/scrapbook :thumbsup2 We would say "he is famous" in our family since he made a newspaper :snooty:

I had to search a bit, but found this.

http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/...0090131&Kategori=NEWS&Lopenr=901310802&Ref=PH

He looks so intent on what he is doing.:thumbsup2

Nan, you look like such an innocent young maid.

Paul has aged very well.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was 32 when I got married. Ok, tonight I'm finding the high school pictures, you are really going laugh at those. Yep, cheerleader and band geek, but I'm only posting the cheerleader ones.

Oh please, Tallulah is going to LOVE me. All animals love me. The birds fly down from the trees and sit on my shoulder and seranade me. The butterflies land on my fingers like pieces of colorful jewelry.

.

You so crack me up. I was laughing so loud that I was glad I have an office to myself in the back yard because when I laugh like this in the house the kids think I'm crazy::yes:: :clown:

Smiling Silly... That's the "Mom...if I smile like this... you're destined to put it on the internet someday and I can then bribe you into getting my ANY accessory for my cart I want... right MOM????" :upsidedow

Yes he is so smiling. It was his before the teethy smile. I love it. That boy really didn't cry alot when he was little. He has a great belly laugh too, but we don't hear that very much anymore either. He is such an old man allready...:rolleyes2

Thanks Gay for the kind words about our pics. It has been fun to pull them out and share.

Even though I wasn't a hands on mama when mine were little I still loved that time. They were so adorable when babies and toddlers. It was easy to decide to have another baby after we had Molly because she was such a doll, in every way. (well except bedtime) (her daddy rocked her to sleep every night until she was 5 years old!!!!) I think he liked it.

okay into the house to find some more pictures to share.

Lisa, thank heavens it is only strep. I'm relieved and it's good she is bouncing back so well

Deb: GO LAY DOWN that was my mean voice...sorry to scare you
