ChrisAlli,
To you original post, I'm glad that going to FW has inspired you to look into camping! I never camped until I married my husband and also immediately noticed how people tend to wave or smile and say "Hi" to each other at the campgrounds. It's just my theory, but I've always found I have an instant camaraderie with my fellow campers because we obviously both enjoy the experience, are sharing in the same weather, same sunrise, same bugs or other nuisances

... Also, (and my experience is as a tent camper) you tend to see your fellow campers alot more than in a hotel, so you can either just pretend to ignore each other awkwardly or be friends.

And when we're talking about people that are going to see you in the mornings when you're not quite groomed yet, or even staying somewhere with no showers where everyone is looking a little thrown together after a couple of days...I'd rather be friendly.
One of the reasons I think so many (including myself) are drawn to camping is because of the other thing you noticed about your husband. When there is no TV, no radio, no clocks in your face, no computer

.... life gets much more simple, and slows down, and you can... just breathe... My stress level almost always drops as soon as we get to the campsite. And isn't that much of what "getting away" is really all about? Resting and relaxing?
I'm glad to know these same things remain true at FW. We are planning our first FW trip for the fall and I have wondered if this was still true at "commercial" campsites (we usually stay at national parks, recreational areas, etc.)
Welcome to the world of camping!
