We are debating if adding Water Parks & More is a worthwhile investment for a February trip. What are the chances it will be warm enough? Keep in mind, coming from Chicago 60 would be tropical:)

Chances are good, but nothing guaranteed. I grew up in upstate ny, and I vividly remember going to typhoon lagoon on our February break trip, and getting sun poisoning and blisters because we chose not to use sunscreen :sad2:

That said, it won't hurt you to add the wp&m option later on, even once you've started your trip.

I would wait until you get here to add the option,in February you can have a high temperatures of 80-85 or a high of 50 with lows in the upper 20's-30's,if it gets that cold the only waterpark open will close until the temperatures warm up.Also remember only one waterpark will be open at this time as one will be closed for annual maintenance.

I agree with Doom1001 wait till you get there. We have made many trips in Feb and it has been a roller coaster of temps. Two years ago the highs were in the 40's.

We keep the water in all the slides and pools around 80F (27C) except for Shark Reef which does not have heaters. What you want is a day that will be bright and sunny and preferably not windy.

If you go on a day that is heavily overcast you will not be able to take advantage of any radiant heating (from the sun) or on a windy day (especially with a dry wind from the North) you will get hit by wind chill.

But a day with the highs in the mid-50s or above which is sunny and calm most people (at least from Northern climates) should be comfortable.

Also, I'm pretty sure only one of the two parks will be open at this time, as they usually close one for renovations. I think Feb 2013 will have Typhoon Lagoon open and Blizzard Beach closed.

My husband and I went Feb 11-18 of this year and only one of the two water parks were open. I think their annual refurbishment is in Feb.

As far as weather, we were coming from SNOW to Florida weather, and we still decided against it...it ended up being a little cooler than forecasted, about 70-75 on average which is perfect for walking around the parks but in the morning it was cold! A couple of our afternoons would have been great water park days as it did end up getting pretty warm, but the weather is so unpredictable.

I would just play it by ear if you can.

This winter TL will be closed October 28 to January 5 and BB will be closed January 6 to February 28.

We were there President's week a few years ago and we were lucky that one day of the 8 we were there was above 50 degrees! I would wait until you get there and add it if the weather works out.

Our February 2011 trip would have been good for the waterparks most days. It wasn't hot but at least 75 in the afternoon so definitely enjoyable. Like everyone else said, wait until you get there to decide because it's impossible to know. I don't even know how to pack for those trips and end up bringing warm and cold weather clothing.

I would love to have the option to wait to add it, but we are doing Y.E.S. tickets. I know my son would adore going to Disney Quest, but we'd be paying to upgrade four tickets. I am torn as to what to do!
