Waterpark - First Visit

Going to Typhoon Lagoon for the first time in September. Never been to a water park before so I was wondering if you could walk me through the routine?

I asume there are changing rooms and lockers so I can take a change of clothes.
What about towels? If I take my own where do I put it whilst I'm in the water? (I am going solo so no one to look after a chair).

Any tips would be useful

As soon as you get in you should go and find a sun lounger, the good ones go very quick so its best to do this first. Then get a locker rental for your expensive items, you can also rent towels here. If you are staying onsite then you can take the towels from the hotel and rather than carry damp towels back they have a big bin you can put them in. You don't need to stay at the sunlounger, just don't leave anything valuable there. In all the years I've been there I've always left my towels, books, suntan lotion etc and have never had a problem. If you are going in the summer you might want to get a pair of swim shoes as the ground is baking hot.

As long as you don't just stick it there and leave it all day then it would be fine. We have always just left (non-valuable) stuff on loungers/chairs. If you are unlikely to spend much of the time 'lounging' it might be fairer to others to just put your towel on a chair rather than a sunbed, as these are more in demand.

DF and I are panning on paying something like $50 (??) to have two reserved loungers, umbrella and a table in Getaway Glenn's. They have CM's in that area to ensure people who haven't paid for reserved loungers don't come in etc etc. Not sure if thats something you'd find worthwhile etc but thought I'd give it a mention

If it's a warm day forcast for when you're heading there, then get there pretty early if possible. You'll get a lot done ride wise in that time, before the crowds hit around lunch time and into the early afternoon.

It's probably wise to head over to Crush n' Gusher first off too, you'll be able to get both slides done then too, without too much wait. This ride gets very busy later in the day.

And, if you fancy some solo water park photo's, don't forget to keep a look out for the Photopass CM's, they're dotted about the park. They'll probably take a photo with your own waterproof camera if you'd like them too

Oh, and be sure to check out the shark swim too. It's free to do, they give you a snorkle and mask and you can set off swimming across the designated pool. It's life-guard manned so it's pretty well organised. Oh, and it's pretty cold in there too So be sure to submerge yourself (including your face with mask on) before setting off without too much of a shock

September is usually quite quiet and we have always found loungers...mind you we never go on the weekend as thats the busy time.

We don't bother with loungers or anything, here's a rundown of what we do on a WP visit.

- Arrive around 2pm when most people tend to start leaving.
- Rent a locker and put everything in there, we wear our clothes over our swimwear and just take a bag with a towel and underwear in.
- Have fun around the park until about 30 minutes before closing time.
- Find a lounger (loads free by then) and have a dry off in the sun.
- Head back to the locker and get changed.
- Dump our towels in the towel return, as we take them from our WDW pool. It's the same towels so I don't see a problem doing so.

I *think* so I think they get you to ride in the back ring with feet up over the front. It may be better for OP to ask though before queuing, there will be a CM around before the queue I would imagine

I had a similar problem but not with the actual ride - it was carrying the darn thing!! I had my DD with me. But she was no help with carrying the tubes up all the stairs and they were too heavy for me. After I tripped and stalled the line behind me for the second time a very nice South American gentleman came to my aid.

I would suggest the water shoes! Not only does the pavement get hot the surface on the bottom of the pools is quite rough! The wave machine pushed me back last time and cut the bottom of my big toe! So we said this time we will get the shoes

Also suncream,suncream,suncream! My dbf always gets burned despite putting on a ton of cream, we might try and get him a surfing wet suit type t-shirt

Its been many years since I have been to a waterpark, may try one next week. I have very fair skin, I fry easily, does anyone go on the rides, in the pook with a tshirt on, or would I look silly?

I wear a t-shirt in the water too. I don't particularly care what anyone thinks - just like to be a bit covered up. I can assure you, you are going to see an interesting array of attire whilst there - and even more interesting combinations ..... I really wouldn't worry about wearing a shirt in the water
