Water slide at the pool?

Has anyone ever heard any rumors about FW ever getting a water slide at the main pool? We don't pool hop and would'nt consider doing so, but as our boys get older we know they'll start noticing the slides at the hotel's pools, and we're not going to give up camping just to stay in a hotel for the pool. I know we can just take them to one of the water parks, but a simple slide in the campground would be so nice!

I've never heard anything but we can keep hoping! Whenever we are asked to fill out the on-line survey after our trips I always put how happy an improved pool would make us! I figure that since they are (gradually) rehabbing all the resort pools to make them handicapped accessible maybe eventually they'll get to us.

I recall reading somewhere in a DVC discussion about a slide proposal fro Old Key West, That at least one more, possibly two, lifeguards are required when the resort pool has a slide. So not only would the slide cost an intital outlay, it creates a continuing expense.
Having said that, I couldnt agree more that FW needs to do something more with their pools. I think a slide is long overdue.

Wouldn't it be nice if they turned River Country into a pool and rec area for FW. Just a thought....

Does the Poly not have a hottub? Is there ever a problem of FW campers going to WL and aswimming in the pool. I heard someone say that when the pool was not working at FW once they told everyone they could go over to WL. That would be ok with me if WL pool was not already so full.

No, FW people are not allowed to use the pool at the Wilderness Lodge. I suppose, if there was a problem with the FW pool, they might give special permission to go over there, but you can't just do it on your own.

They will allow exceptions if they have a problem with a resort pool.
We were at Boardwalk a few years ago in February. the pool heater was not working and it was too cold to swim. At the time I was paying cash for a regular room. I told them I was obviously disappointed since pool time is a big part of our vacation. I was told we could go over to Stormalong bay at the Beach club. The one and only time we were ever allowed in, it was really cool.
The only problem was I slipped and fell getting into the Jacuzzi and created a tsunami that washed a small kid into the side. I felt horrible and the Mom was more than a little mad.

I have often thought they should make some renovations to the pool theme at the campground. I think that they should use the area of River Country where the three slides empy into the pool as a themed pool area. Many campers go over to the WL to use the pool..although they are not supposed to..and the WL does check resort id..as it is not a huge pool for a resort of it's size. I think especially for what the people who rent the cabins pay ...they should offer a themed pool. I'm sure that many who pay the price for those cabins are not aware until staying there that the pool for the cabins is not themed nor does it offer a lifequard..really nothing to write home about. I think if they did put in a themed pool ...or at the very least a slide..it would stop a lot of the pool hopping to the WL...which they seem to have a problem with. I love the campground...but think this is one of it's only drawbacks. Doubtful that they would make any sort of renovation or improvement to the pools..as they seem to be just charging more and offering less at the hotels...so I doubt they'd invest to much into the campground. Too bad though.
