My 6 kids range from 2-16 years of age.... one of the things that they're looking forward to the most, is time at the water parks. At this point, we're planning to spend the majority of our water park time at Blizzard Beach, but I'm curious to know if there is an area specifically for younger children there, or would Typhoon Lagoon be better for the little ones? I'm having trouble finding specifics on the water parks....the books I bought don't focus on them as much as I'd hoped. Is there perhaps a website that shows more detailed information? I'd love to hear from some Disney water park veterans! :) Thanks!

I can help only with Typhoon Lagoon. My 8 yo DD loves it. She really likes the wave pool and could spend the entire time in it. The children's area (Ketchakiddee Creek - or something equally cutely named) is geared toward the under 5 crowd, but really nice for that age group. The slides (body and tube) were a little intense for my DD; she wouldn't do all but a couple. Teens love them.

There is a younger kids area at BB, too. (Tyke's Peak?)

Here is a link to a short description and map of both TL and BB. www.mousetyme.com/WaterParks.html

We're going again in October and intend to do both TL and BB.

We have been to both, and our DD was 2 when we went to Typhoon Lagoon, and 3 when we went to Blizzard Beach. In my opinion, BB is more geared toward the older kids, faster slides. My family liked TL better though because of the tropical feel, lots of shade, Shark Reef, and not so many stairs...At BB it felt like all we did was climb!!! They do have a chair lift to the top of the really tall slides, but we couldn't get our 3 year old to get on it! Also, there are kids areas in both parks, but again, we felt like the one at TL was better. It had areas for really small kids, and then another one for kids a little older, if that makes any sense... Another thing we liked was there is a lot more shade at TL...BB has a lot of painted concrete, and when you paint it white, well, it just reflects the heat and sun....Anyway, hope this helps....we went to both to form our own opinions, we had heard good and bad about both...In a nutshell, I think your teens would have a better time at BB, while the younger ones may prefer TL....Have a great time!!!

Thanks :) for your response to my question. I think it will be important to go to both the parks on our trip this Oct. TL sounds like it will be more fun for the whole family and I hope to spend a little more time there. Do you know what time the water parks usually close in the fall??? Can you go to the one of the water parks for a few hours and then go to the other parks or would that be to much for one day???

I think the times will probably be something like 10am to 6pm and one of them may be closed on any given day (they originally posted May hours like this then opened both on every day). Doing both in one day would be a stretch I think in terms of just getting tired, wet bathing suites etc. but in theory doable with a car - on Disney transportation I think it would be pretty hard.

I would pick TL if I had to pick one due to the shade and the themes

thanks
