We are going to Disney World in August and plan on going to both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. This will be our first time to visit the water parks and I have a couple of questions for those of you who have visited the water parks. Can you wear swim shoes on the water slides and attractions or do they have you take them off? Also, do most of you bring your own beach towels from home or just rent the ones at the water parks? I thought I would bring my own towels but they will also take up a lot of room in the suitcases. Any information any of you can offer would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Both water parks have towel rentals. Since you will be staying on site you could take the towels from you hotel if you didn't want to pack towels in your suitcase. As well, you can wear water shoes on the slides. At least on most of them. We didn't get a chance to ride all of the slides but the ones we did, we wore our water shoes. And since the concrete gets really hot, I would recommend wearing your shoes. It gets pretty hot on the feet!

Have a great vacation.

Since the water parks tend to get crowded in the summer months, and lounge chairs get claimed quickly, is there any place (specifically Blizzard Beach) that you could set up camp for the day with beach towels?
