Dumb question here: Are the water parks closed in January? I imagine on some nights it would cost a lot of money to heat the pools, so I was just wondering....

And I hope I'm wrong!

One water park or the other is always closed in January, but for refurbishment - not because of the cost to heat the water. They generally close at 5 PM during off-peak times, anyway.
This year, it's Typhoon Lagoon.

We are going in January too. I'm alittle nervous about the weather. I know it could pretty much be anything. We've been in early February before and it as just barely warm. Still had to wear sweatshirts during the day. We love the waterparks, but I'm not planning them for this trip.

Awe... i love typhoon lagoon too... But this will give me a reason to try blizzard beach, which i've never been to before.

I hope the weather is nice enough to go to the water parks. Either way, i'm happy though, considering i'm going for free with my grandmother and aunt.

Ye best be wearin' your skivvies if you're planning to do a water park in January or February. there are some braver souls than mine who will brave the cold water, but for my Floridian blood there's no way I'm going near them that time of year. They may tell you that they heat the water but if they do, it's not nearly enough.

That's the time of the year at the water parks that you usually don't see any Floridians. :)

When we lived up north and came to WDW we swam in Jan and Feb.

Pools are heated year round.

Last January it was 85 degrees. We spent a few days at BB.

85 is a great swimming temperature. Once it gets into the 70's though, I don't want to go in anymore.
