Hi!
We (me, DH, DD8, DF8, 6mo baby) are going to be at the world July 20-29th.. and are certain to hit the water parks at least twice while we are there(BB and TL both)

I have been to BB and done the lazy river... any idea's on how to do this with a 6mo baby? I have the Aqua School baby boat ( the one in the OneStepAhead book) = will they let me bring that to the water park for the baby? If not, how do I hold on to her.. babies are slippery when wet! LOL!!!

anyone with experience at the water parks with babies??

I don't know if I would take a baby on the lazy river, but if I did I would probably want her in a sling attached to me, not in anythign that could float away.

We went on last year with my dd who is 4, she was in one of the little rings that have a bottom in them (provided by BB) - we were doing great until we went under a waterfall - it was very very hard and quite scary - we got stuck under the waterfall and to be honest I was quite scared, I had to jump out of my tube to get through it, and when I looked back my dd was still stuck under it, so I had to wade back and pull her through - she was remarkable brave but I think it had been a pretty shaky moment for her - I wouldn't have liked to have been dealing with a baby at that moment.

if I'd had a baby in one of those floating rings, I don't think I could have kept ahold of it while I was stuck under the waterfall, and if the baby had gotten stuck I think it would have been very distressed.

That's the negative bit over - now the positive bit, at BB they have a fantastic kids area called Tykes Peak and right at the top of Tykes Peak there is a brilliant little playarea for tiny ones, just a few inches of water to splash in and some very tiny slides - I think your baby will enjoy that.
At TL there is also a kids area, I can't remember the name, and it has sand to dig in, and a small river runs around which again will be fun to splash in. My only slight reservation with TL was that there seemed to be a lot fo things which squirt water and my dd doesn't like getting squirted unexpectedly so she was a little wary of certain areas where that could happen.

Hi there! We went in 2001 with kids ages (at that time) DS8, DS3, DD3 and DD9months. We were at Typhoon Lagoon for 8 hours and had an absolute blast! My DH and I took turns with the 8yo on the slides and wave pool and the other was in the children's area which was wonderful (i can't remember the name though) It was a bit trying having two 3yo that wanted to be on opposite ends of the play area but I planted myself in the middle with the baby! She had a blast too! I don't know about the baby boat thing but I do think the baby sling sounds like a good idea. I would just hold her/him too, I doubt you will be in the wave pool with the baby. DH and you are just going to have to take turns with the little one. Don't forget the stroller for napping! Have fun!

thanks Bev!
The info for tykes peak is great! At 6 months, she will be sitting up and will be able to splash around.. thanks!

I guess I might have misstated.. I did not intend to let the baby free float on her baby boat through the lazy river. I was going to put her in her baby boat (if they will let me) and walk with her while holding onto her in her boat.

I guess that if they will not let me take her baby boat - then I will have a huge problem.. huh?

DD& her friend (both 8) can hang with dad and do the big stuff.. I was just looking for something to do with the slippery baby that will get us both in the water. Anyone know if they will let me take her baby boat in?

Sling... like the baby bjorn? I guess that I could do that.. just put her in the sling and walk with her instead of floating?

I would call disney and ask this question because it is a good one. And as far as walking in the lazy river, when I tryed it had a really strong current so make sure you have good strong legs..lol and make sure you bring water shoes, the bottom is rough. Good luck, and I am sure you will have a great time with your family.

You guys gave me some great ideas!
I don't know what I will do yet - I guess figure it out when we get there. Iwill be sure to update you when we get back though!

I definitelly wouldn't wear a baby bjorn in the water park - too heavy, too hot, and it would never dry out!

They make mesh slings - great for pools and the beach - heck even showering is easy to a degree!

here is a link to one on ebay - I'm sure there are a number out there but this seems to be the only one on ebay right now - with using the seach words "mesh baby sling"

here is another type -

Just go to www.google.com and search for mesh baby sling -

Best of luck -

If you do find out anything about the baby boat at the water parks, let us know. I would be interested in knowing too.
