Water Park and More ticket option going away

Well then, that's interesting.

However, doesn't the water park n more option cost something like $50 anyway? That's the cost to enter either of those parks separately, so not like anything is being lost except for not being able to add it as part of a package, but will have to be an add on. I think they're just changing the name of it since Disney Quest isn't included in the AP's now either.

Thats fine if you're only going one time. But the Water park k option gave you multiple visits - so a 5 day ticket gave you 5 visits to the water park - a $300 value

Ah, I see. Realistically, did you actually ever go that many times?

These tickets are invaluable if spending 2 weeks in Orlando. 7 day WPM tickets allow 7 park days, PLUS 7 waterpark, rounds of golf at Oak Trail, or Disney Quests over 14 days. Though most people won't utilize it but twice, even at that point, you are ahead of the game. But imagine you're in Orlando or even WDW for 11 days. You've got some water park days, you can golf and shop one day. I've always liked these, even if it's just visiting both waterparks over my trip...saves me $50 or so.

I have never been period, because we could only afford base tickets. However, if we had the option, yes, we most definitely would have gone multiple times, and there are many on this board who have/do, as well.

This. We were hoping to be able to get these tickets next time. Our hope was that we could do each water park once, plus a round at Oak Trail, maybe a round of mini golf. So it most definitely would have been worth the money.

That's where the disconnect is. I think most people think the add on is just like your park hopper, so if you get a 5 day parkhopper with this add on, you can only go to the parks AND waterparks for those 5 days (switching between them as they go). I don't think many realize you get 5 days separate to do the additional things (water parks, golf course, etc.).

You could count me in that group until reading this thread.
Still don't think we'd have time to fit in a water park day, or even half day. We seem to struggle fitting in some pool time at the resort.

I'm just trying to get an understanding of the value to a regular park guest.

I guess that is pretty accurate. I have blinders on. I stay at Disney property and I only do Disney things.

The waterpark and more are Disney things. It allows you to extend a vacation without always doing the main parks. It also allows families or even non-families to split up to do things more in line with what they like (older kids go to Blizzard Beach, younger kids and parents go to MK, or some people go to the Oak Trail in the morning before having a relaxing afternoon at the resort with dinner at DS (or even the resort/some other hotel).

Yes, I know that. I meant that for myself, I don't take into account that there are people staying in the Orlando area who may not be doing exclusive Disney things and therefore, they would be best suited by 5 park days with 5 water park, golf, or Disney Quest days put into the mix of other plans.

Well, here we go. Another big ticket price increase, probably coming in February. Pay more for less. I'm sure they're trying to come up with a plan to start paying off the investment in Avatar as its opening this summer. I'm glad I purchased a set of tickets last year before the price increase. I'm set through at least the 50th anniversary.

And china big time

Getting worried about them

You do realize that the water parks are Disney things, and have character M&Gs at the parks? Most people don't look at the water parks as "non Disney". They look at them as a 5th & 6th park, and a way to expand their Disney inclusive vacation. Even the mini golf is Disney themed and you can see the Disney parks/hotels etc... right in the background, so few people feel like they're leaving the bubble.

As you know the seasonal pricing on multi-day tickets has been my fear. But, I am curious - why would they need to do this, for that? So basically from now on, you'll have to pay every time you want to go to the water park, right?

Pay the stock holder or lose your job

I did the same thing for a probable 2018 trip but I'm still scared that somehow tickets will change and they will not be the value we expected.

Considering that people could use a non expiring ticket that's 20 years old to get in, I doubt they'd change the value of an already purchased ticket. It just won't be available to purchase anymore.

Yes, I said I know these are Disney things and I never meant that they weren't. What I was trying to say and I think I said it clearly was I never gave thought to those that were on extended vacations in the Orlando area that may not be doing the major Disney parks all of the days of their vacation and could use this option as ways of doing Disney on those non-park days, even though the water parks are "Disney parks".

I am very well versed on what is Disney and what is non-Disney. Like another poster said, there's a disconnection in realizing that these can be used as "additional" days at Disney so a 5 day ticket with water park and more is really a 10 day ticket when you take into consideration the "more" options. Therefore, I see the loss of value to someone who used these options for extended vacations and to those people, this is really quite the loss.

However, I feel that they're probably changing the name or the options in order to phase out the Disney Quest portion of it.

So the more I think about it, I wonder if it could change to how a lot of people have thought it has been (i.e. you pay for that ticket, you don't get the ADDITIONAL days at the park, but they become like the 5th and 6th gates).

Maybe Disney will go back to the old way where if you buy so many ticket days, they'll throw in a visit or two to a water park for free!

Ah, who am I kidding.....I just like to make myself laugh.

plus you have the new transportation upgrade option so perhaps that figures into the restructuring of the ticket options

level 1: includes Park Hoppers
level 2: includes Park Hoppers, Water Parks, and upgraded park-to-park transportation

Ya know, the more I read that idea and the more I think about it, the more I actually like it.
