Which resort has the best water mice?

I thought I heard the Contemporary's boats reach the greatest speeds. Is that true?

At the Contemporary, can you drive from Bay Lake to 7 Seas in the water mice? That would be fun...seeing all the resorts from the water.

Is Cresent Lake (BC/YC/BW) big enough for us to enjoy the water mice? We're staying at BWV.

Any advice? We are myself, DH, DS12, and DD10. Thanks.
Kelley

The best places to rent the water mice are the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, or the Grand Floridian. This is because of what you mentioned, they reach the greatest speeds because of being on the largest bodies of water. And the Seven Seas Lagoon & Bay Lake are connected, so you can drive all around both.

However, be aware that WDW has very recently changed their policy with the water mice and you now have to be 16 to operate one alone.

I am not sure about the new policy for 16 yr old drivers. The official site still says 12 yrs. old and some people here have posted that it's still 12 yrs., and some have posted 16 yrs. Does anyone know for sure?

My favorite is Wilderness Lodge - you are right on the main lake and get to play behind the big boats going from Fort Wilderness to Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge. It is fun just going around the island and there is a good mix of smooth and choppy water. Have fun

Man, I hope it's still 12 because my son has been talking about this for months~it's the only thing he's asking to do while we're there. That would be a major bummer for us.

All the mice are maintained by an outside agency and all acheive the same speed. Much depends upon the weight of the passengers. We found that if the speed lags in the beginning, lean as far forward as you can until the speed picks up and then you can sit back and relax in your seat. The GF is the best place to rent. They used to have a plan called the Captain's plan. You purchase three hours of water craft time and you get four hours. You can devide this time up any way you want, Two drivers for two hours, one driver for four hours, four drivers for 1 hour. Another good feature about this plan is that the marina cast members aren't always as meticulous about watching the clock.

Actually the watermice have recently been replaced at the MK resorts, and you do need to have a LISCENSED DRIVER either in the boat, or if driving alone need to be 16 and a LISCENSED DRIVER. These watermice are much faster than the old ones, and this is a relatively new policy, maybe a month or so old. I believe that all other watermice available at WDW still have the 12 YO old rule to drive alone.

What are the restrictions on being a passenger are there any?

DD is 7, and DH planned on taking her for a ride next Friday. Should we bring her life jacket?

The only restrictions on being a passenger, would be the following:
Combined maximum weight limit for all passengers is 320 pounds.

Should we bring her life jacket?
Nope the resort will provide you with age/size appropriate life vest.

Have fun:boat:
