Water bottles in parks?

We are going to Disney for the first time in June. I have heard many people say to take your own water bottles and they can be refilled in Disney for free. I planned on everyone wearing a fanny pack and keeping their bottle in there. Is any one type of bottle better than another? I can't see Disney allowing people to do this because seems like it would cut into their profits on selling water themselves  Any advice on how others have done this?

We use the ones that have an insulated cover and shoulder strap. They hold a liter of water, and I refill them with spring water we bring with us (We drive to Disney) and keep in the cooler in the room. We carry two fore the 5 of us. We usually bring two cases of water for a 7- or 8-day trip.

You will have absolutely no problem carrying in your water bottle at Disney. If there's one thing they do not want, it's park guests killing over from heat stroke.

You just buy a bottle and refill it at a water fountain. No big deal. We would refill ours several times a day. If Disney cares , so what, what can they do about it?? .smjj

I got the Britta water bottle. Florida water tastes a little "funky" to me. The Britta bottle has a small filter in the top that gets rid of that taste. I just put it in an insulated shoulder strap holder that I have.

I would agree with the funky tatse to the water at WDW. We carried our own water in. Got the bottles from AKL when we stayed concierge. We decided to keep the bottled water in a fairly large bag we brought to the parks for a couple of reasons. First, we knew where they were, we didn't have to worry about the kids leaving the at a bench or someplace else. Second, even something as light as a water bottle gets pretty heavy for the kids so it was easier for us to carry them.

Hmmm......maybe a light backpack or something would be better! 3 of us wear glasses which we would probably have to take off for some of the wilder rides! Can you take that kind of thing on the rides with you, is there a place for it? (I know, I know, I obsess on minute details....LOL!) :teeth:

I always take a light backpack, I have taken it on every ride at WDW. At Dino they have a mesh pouch in front of you to put it in and I think also on Star Tours, and Body Wars at US/IOA they have free temp lockers outside the wild rides.

There's five of us the kids have always carried their own bottles (when we no longer had a stroller) they were 4,6 and 7 at that time. I did go to walmart and bought them smaller bottles with a strap and insulated cover while DH and I had the larger version. In June the insulated cover is important or you'll be constantly refilling when the water gets to warm.

And don't forget you can always get a cup of ice free from any of the counter service stands to keep your water cool. I've also heard that counter service may fill up your water bottle for you but I have never tried that yet.

Disney is really good about letting you bring in your own drink and small snacks. DS is hungry every hour. I am not going to buy him 20 snacks a day. We usually bring in 2 water bottles (for the 3 of us), 1 or 2 granola bars, and a pack or 2 of those little fruit snacks.

We always buy a snack for every parade, that's a tradition.

I also suggest getting the Brita water bottles. The tops are big enough to put ice in and it filters the water so you can get it out the of the taps. DW just hates the taste of Florida water.

Have a good time!

We were there last july. and at AK i asked at one of the stands to refill our water bottles they said they was only allowed to give us a glass of water.
