As I was in the Halloween candy aisle at Target, I proceeded to check some of the candy to see where it was made, etc. Last year around Christmas time, I noticed a lot of "food" products with Christmas symbols, etc were made in China. Well, a lot of the Halloween treats your kids might be eating are made in China:sick: In particular, gummi products and other things like finger lollipops, etc. Check Target; their candy aisle is flooded with candy that says MADE IN CHINA on the back.

It is one thing to have a pair of shoes made in China and another to ingest something made in China!

Why? I mean I love candy made in Germany, Switzerland & Britain too- Why would candy made in China not be good? Do they put a particular ingredient in it that is harmful or otherwise not pleasing to the pallet? Please give us more info-

any food products purchased in the usa have to adhere to rigorous standards, EVEN if they're made in China. If you have made a moral choice not to purchase anything not made in the usa, then don't eat food manufactured in China. Otherwise, you're not making an unsafe choice.

Food from China, for the most part, has not been rigorously tested and the conditions in which the food is made....

China is not the cleanest country. Look at the fish from China contaminations. Most fish in the grocery stores comes from China where it was grown in conditions such as waste water, etc and that is proven. I personally would not put Chinese candy, food into my body. You do not know what they use and the saftey standards and not anything like the USA's food standards.

Actually, the don't. The FDA does not fully test food products from China.

I agree totally. Did you guys all see the story about how something like 432 Chinese babies became sick/died from tainted Chinese milk? :scared1:

No thanks, thanks for the headsup!

Thanks for the heads up. We will not be handing our Chinese made candy to our trick-or-treaters.

I just heard that baby formula coming from china may have the same poison in it that was in the dog food a couple of years ago. I never thought about candy coming from there.

I hope Nestle and Hershey are still made in the USA. I would never buy food made in China. Remember the dog food that was tainted and now their baby formula? I hope my favorite Mickey milk choocolate bar is made here too.

The US has all sorts of safe guards for testing drugs that enter this country but don't do much of anything in the way of food except to stop things from entering that are banned... the government pretty much assumes the companies importing the stuff will make sure its safe... I for one don't just avoid stuff from china, but also from Mexico. If you look back a few years ago a lot of kids were getting lead poisoning from gum made in Mexico. Apparently lead oxide was being use as one of the coloring agents in some of the candies. Stick with stuff made in countries that care about their people... most of western europe, canada... when it comes to south of the border, I would trust argentina, brazil and chile... the rest of them don't have any real laws to keep things safe.

I think you would be surprised at the standards of food in the US. especially in restaurants! You would be SHOCKED.

I just saw an article that china is reusing used condoms and making hair elastics out of them. Found it on snopes just to double check - yuck.

OMG! :scared1: I will definitely start checking labels- THx OP for the info- & OMG!! :scared1:  :scared: :scared:  :scared1: used condoms as pony tail elastics??? TOO Gross!

Have you ever seen Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares?????:scared1: Some of those kitchens are the filthiest things I've ever seen. Makes you want to never eat out again.

Ok, so you can watch what you hand out....buthow are you going to watch what your children are given when they're out trick or treating?

I think I would be hesitant to eat anything made in China because of the pet food scare. Many pets died and became ill from eating dog food made in China or ingredients made in China.

I would play on the safe side and avoid food products from China. Last Christmas I didn't buy lip gloss made in China for that reason and I plan on
being cautious this year too.
