My thought on the letter? It had to do with the other moms discussing Melissa's wedding and fiance while on camera. Melissa signed the contract with TLC, not the fiance and it's the fiance who doesn't want his personal life discussed on TV. I also think the producers probably were pushing the other moms to talk about it.
I would agree with the above poster and others who posted about the moms speaking about Melissa's engagement, but Melissa herself spoke about her engagement during at least one, maybe more, of her talking heads over the past few episodes. So if she wanted this news kept on the DL, she shouldn't have broadcasted it to the whole viewing audience.
Hmmmmm....I don't know that I agree with you. Dance Moms a reality show about the moms...the kids are just the producers pawns. Many in the industry actually despise that show and refuse to watch it. Billy Elliot on the other hand would be a HUGE opportunity for a kid and mean a heck of a lot more on a resume than Dance Moms (which IMO could do more harm than good LOL). Perhaps she got the callbacks yes, but then was cut and was just trying to justify why it wasn't a big deal ("then I couldn't have competed"). Because as I understand it, yes, she could have gone back to competing once the run was over. And secondly, even if she couldn't have, which is more important to a serious dancer? The opportunity to be in a REAL show, or a bunch of meaningless plastic trophies.
As a poor excuse for a dance mom with a DD who has even competed at some of the same competitions featured on the show (not the same time & city, but same comps), a dancer who got offered a role on Broadway would take it & competitions wouldn't be an issue. IMO it's more likely it conflicted w/ the prior commitment to the TV show and/or presented her mother with a problem with either dad agreeing for child to leave her home for an extended period of time or an inability for mom/sister to pick up their lives & move to NY to accommodate the gig.
Ironically, for those who may have seen Billy Elliot on stage, the dance roles for female children are really stereotypes of dance students who can't dance. I told DD's ballet teacher a couple years ago how heartbreaking it must be for these girls to get a dance part in a major stage production like this and not be able to show at all what you can do. I can write the lines for the show's writers myself:
Christy: Well, of course Abby wouldn't let Maddie end up with a role like that, but she thinks it's fine for Chloe to take a job where she gets up there and makes the audience think she really can't dance.
Abby: What kind of parent considers letting their kid turn down a job on Broadway? That's what I've raised these girls to do, become professional dancers. Christy is crazy if she thinks I'm going to let her overrule my career plans for Chloe. These moms have no idea what they're doing or how to raise these kids.
Melissa: Well, of course Maddie gained fabulous experience auditioning for the casting agents and they would have been thrilled beyond belief to have her. Abby said it was a good training ground but really not the right fit for a dancer as superb as Maddie is. Of course the other moms would flip out if they knew Abby has a plan up her sleeve for the role Maddie should actually audition for next month -- and of course she'll get it.
Good one!
Something I noticed while visiting the ALDC website...They list all the competitons and results. In one Feb competition Kendall is listed as placing for Abby Lee. hmmmmm![]()
There are also several other children competing who are not featured in the show. Kendall also has an older sister who dances with ALDC but has never been mentioned.
My cousin's daughters recently competed against the ALDC and they were able to talk with Abby, the moms, and the dancers. After that experience they are all convinced the show is a farce. They said that Abby is super nice, the kids LOVE her and the moms are all BFF's. Basically, it's a tv show.
The public hates their mothers. That can't be an easy thing to deal with.
The Pittsburgh moms are dreamboats compared to the Miami Dance moms. They are vipers and hideous.
I did..... I was hoping the guy asking the questions would ask the 3 moms why they always seem to gang up on Melissa, and yet Christine ( the bully) said their all good friends, she even said Melissa always helps her when needed.
