Wasn't there a Dance Moms thread?

Oh lordy! Now there's going to be a Miami Dance Moms?!?!?!?! :scared1:

My thought on the letter? It had to do with the other moms discussing Melissa's wedding and fiance while on camera. Melissa signed the contract with TLC, not the fiance and it's the fiance who doesn't want his personal life discussed on TV. I also think the producers probably were pushing the other moms to talk about it.

I would agree with the above poster and others who posted about the moms speaking about Melissa's engagement, but Melissa herself spoke about her engagement during at least one, maybe more, of her talking heads over the past few episodes. So if she wanted this news kept on the DL, she shouldn't have broadcasted it to the whole viewing audience.

Also Melissa didn't slap Jill with the "cease-and-desist" letter when she brought up the engagement when they were having lunch. Of course now that Cathy brought a gift for her, I wonder if Melissa will say something to Jill. I made the assumption that Jill was the one who told Cathy about the engagement, but I suppose it could have been Christi when she took Chloe to shoot that "commercial".

Hmmmmm....I don't know that I agree with you. Dance Moms a reality show about the moms...the kids are just the producers pawns. Many in the industry actually despise that show and refuse to watch it. Billy Elliot on the other hand would be a HUGE opportunity for a kid and mean a heck of a lot more on a resume than Dance Moms (which IMO could do more harm than good LOL). Perhaps she got the callbacks yes, but then was cut and was just trying to justify why it wasn't a big deal ("then I couldn't have competed"). Because as I understand it, yes, she could have gone back to competing once the run was over. And secondly, even if she couldn't have, which is more important to a serious dancer? The opportunity to be in a REAL show, or a bunch of meaningless plastic trophies.

As a poor excuse for a dance mom with a DD who has even competed at some of the same competitions featured on the show (not the same time & city, but same comps), a dancer who got offered a role on Broadway would take it & competitions wouldn't be an issue. IMO it's more likely it conflicted w/ the prior commitment to the TV show and/or presented her mother with a problem with either dad agreeing for child to leave her home for an extended period of time or an inability for mom/sister to pick up their lives & move to NY to accommodate the gig.

Ironically, for those who may have seen Billy Elliot on stage, the dance roles for female children are really stereotypes of dance students who can't dance. I told DD's ballet teacher a couple years ago how heartbreaking it must be for these girls to get a dance part in a major stage production like this and not be able to show at all what you can do. I can write the lines for the show's writers myself:

Christy: Well, of course Abby wouldn't let Maddie end up with a role like that, but she thinks it's fine for Chloe to take a job where she gets up there and makes the audience think she really can't dance.

Abby: What kind of parent considers letting their kid turn down a job on Broadway? That's what I've raised these girls to do, become professional dancers. Christy is crazy if she thinks I'm going to let her overrule my career plans for Chloe. These moms have no idea what they're doing or how to raise these kids.

Melissa: Well, of course Maddie gained fabulous experience auditioning for the casting agents and they would have been thrilled beyond belief to have her. Abby said it was a good training ground but really not the right fit for a dancer as superb as Maddie is. Of course the other moms would flip out if they knew Abby has a plan up her sleeve for the role Maddie should actually audition for next month -- and of course she'll get it.

:lmao: Good one!

Something I noticed while visiting the ALDC website...They list all the competitons and results. In one Feb competition Kendall is listed as placing for Abby Lee. hmmmmm :confused3 :rolleyes1 There are also several other children competing who are not featured in the show. Kendall also has an older sister who dances with ALDC but has never been mentioned.

That's interesting, but hardly very surprising. The show is complete fabrication, loosely stretched around some of the broadest stereotypes in this area of the dance world.

I do find fascinating how sloppily they have set up the whole cease and desist "suing other people" plotline. I could flood friends, neighbors, co-workers, my fellow dance moms with a barrage of cease and desist letters, precluding them from discussing my hangnail. I could even have them sent out under the letterhead & signature of any attorney I know who would be stupid enough to accept the hit to their professional reputation by doing so. It doesn't mean there is any legal basis upon which I could bring a claim against them in a court of law for discussing my hangnail unless it were causing some detriment to my employment, finances, ability to reside in my home, etc.

For heaven's sake, the National Enquirer has been in business for how many years already? If you could sue people for talking about you, even for talking badly about you, how on earth could something like the Enquirer remain in business?

My cousin's daughters recently competed against the ALDC and they were able to talk with Abby, the moms, and the dancers. After that experience they are all convinced the show is a farce. They said that Abby is super nice, the kids LOVE her and the moms are all BFF's. Basically, it's a tv show.

I am glad to hear this. Every time I watch the show I wonder why any parent would put their kids through that. I always come away thinking it's mostly made-up. After all, if they did a show based on my daughter's dance studio, or most other studios out there, no one would watch-- not nearly enough drama. It's all about ratings, and nowadays, doing things that will make the viewers' jaws drop in disgust is the best way to achieve that.

Still, I wonder how that affects the girls in the show. The public hates their mothers. That can't be an easy thing to deal with.

Didn't get to see last night's episode, but DD's made sure to watch because our dance studio was at that competition. Apparently they saw several of our dancers at the award presentation and some of our moms in the seats.

Several of our dancers had posted photos w/ Abby on Facebook at the time & made comments about how friendly she was.

It's the same with the pageant show too. My son was in several pageants when he was little and I never saw the kind of mess they show on that show. They find the most extreme moms and then they edit the footage and even tell the moms/kids what to say and do. Pageants are pretty boring too. The producers know what people will watch and they either find it or create it.

The Pittsburgh moms are dreamboats compared to the Miami Dance moms. They are vipers and hideous.

Come on now, you have to admit that the Ani is about the most level headed, calm person on either show. She and Holly are the two moms that are the most like the moms of the girls DD dances with. When Holly has an issue, she can make her point with out being rude and screaming.

The other 4 moms, I will agree with you on. You can also throw in delusional
for Debbie.

I did..... I was hoping the guy asking the questions would ask the 3 moms why they always seem to gang up on Melissa, and yet Christine ( the bully) said their all good friends, she even said Melissa always helps her when needed.

I don't think they gang up on Melissa. They just call her out for pretending that Abby doesn't favor Maddy.

Why in the world would she get engaged to man who is still married???:crazy2:YUCK

I think that outside of dancing they are all very supportive of each other but when it comes to dance, I think that all would throw the others under the bus to get their daughters ahead.

Holly and her diplomatic answers are really ridiculous. Plus what is with the- I am a role model for all the girls that you can have a career and education, family and run a household yada yada yada, but didn't she leave her job?

I think Kelly should leave, she is about a minute away from a full blown breakdown.

Kristie is a loose cannon and will certainly injure herself with all that eye rolling that she does. She can't even "play the game" and try to seem happy for any of the other girls, I feel bad for her daughter.

Did it get outed that the infamous "pyramid" only started during this season? I only recently started watching this so I have no idea but during the reunion they made a mention of the pyramid as if it is a new thing. If that is the case then it is really pathetic but as Holly said "it keeps Abby accountable"

There is a part 2 to the "reunion" but it seems like we have already seen everything that was in the promos. I am still curious to see where else this conversation goes.
