I was just talking to a friend about the new ride soaring. While I was explaining it to her she said that her and her husband went on a ride like it during there honeymoon trip. They went around 1986, and she said that the ride was like you where falling down the empire state building. Was this really a ride?
Thanks in advanced :flower:

The "falling down the Empire State Building" ride is the Adventures of Spiderman ride at Universal.

The new soaring ride at The Land (at Epcot) is like you are flying over Florida. They have one at Disneyland where you fly over California. If you go to the official Disney World website, www.disneyworld.com, and type in "Soaring" you can get a clipping of the ride. Try it! :earsboy:

Thats what I said, but they went in 1986 and the spider man ride definatley wasn't there then. I am so confused. She also said that her feet hung below her, which if I rember is not how you sit on Spider man

Just so you know, the ride is identical to the one in California. Its possible that Epcot may get a new film a few years down the line.(possibly Soaring over the U.S.).

Possibly a ride of similar design to Dr. Doom's Fearfall? The tower is the Empire States Building?

Soarin at Epcot will be themed like you are going to visit the cities shown in the movie. It will still be the same movie as Calif but it will feel different than CA since their theming is aviation history.

Your friend sure didn't go on Soarin' in '86, it just opened. That was like 20 yrs ago, there may have been a different ride she is thinking of but she is most likely just mistaken, tell her she needs to go back to Disney to find that ride, 20 yrs is way too long to stay away from WDW!!! :sad2: :sad1:  :crazy2: :worried: :( :scared1: :faint:

I wouldnt remember as I was only 7 years old in 1986. In fact, I didnt know that the world existed before 1979 :goodvibes

It could be a ride at the Magic Kingdom sponsored by Delta Airlines called " If you had wings ". Or something like that.

Dumbo

I was also thinking it sounded a lot like "If You Had Wings" that was in the Buzz Lightyear spot in Tomorrowland. It couldn't have been anything in Universal, as they didn't open until 1989, and Soarin' in California Adventure wasn't even a glint in Eisner's eye at that time.

If you had wings!!!!!
Oh the memories!!! I loved that ride so much!!
Glad this question came up. I used to love the end where the video gave you the sensation of speed. :cool1:
