Was Anyone Else Disappointed With Test Track Ride At Epcot

HI,

LAST WEEK WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER WENT ON THE TEST TRACK RIDE.
WE PUT OUR CARD IN AT 11:45 AND THE TICKET TIME WAS 2:45, 3 HOURS TO WAIT. WE HAD JUST DID EPCOT THE NIGHT BEFORE SO THERE WAS NOT MUCH NEW TO DO, AFTER WALKING AROUND WORLD SHOW CASE FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND EATING LUNCH, WE STILL HAS 45 MINUTES TO WAIT, FINALLY AT 3:00 WE GET ON THE RIDE AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO IT. A COUPLE OF BUMPS, AND QUICK STOPS AND SHORT SPIN AROUND THE TRACK AND IT WAS OVER. FOR A 3 HR WAIT IT COULD OF BEEN MUCH BETTER, DO YOU THINK?

The fastpass for TT is usually a long wait. We try to get one and then go do some other stuff or even go back to the resort and come back. It's enough of a thrill ride for me. :)

Is this because Disney offsets the first FP return time, or is it just busy? That is, if I was able to get the first TT FP for the day, would the return time already be a few hours later?

Thanks!

The wait for TT always seems to be long and the fast passes are usually for several hours away, except first thing in the morning. If you get there when the park opens either EMH or regular opening time and make a bee line for TT then you can get a fast pass (time is usually about 30-45 minutes away by the time we get there a few minutes after park opening), we then stand in the regular stand-by line and wait 10-15 minutes and then we have our fast pass to use.

As much as I like TT, I would never ever wait hours and hours to ride it. I think it's a nice attraction but not worth waiting over 30 minutes to ride.

First FP of the day may be for as little as 30 minutes ahead, but the times increase rapidly and FPs can be gone by 1:00 p.m. This is the result of high demand and relatively low supply.

On busy days, FPs being issued between 12:00 and 1:00 are in the 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. range, so if you want to do TT early, either get there as soon as Epcot opens, or get FPs before 11:00 a.m.

I'm with the OP. I thought Test Track was not worth the hype. There wasn't much to the ride, and I just don't see the big deal of it.

Hi there! Just to let you know- the ride is called Test Track. I would not wait 3 hours for TT but I do not really consider Fast Passes waiting. We always do other rides, shows or eat and then come back and ride at our FP time. I LOVE FP because I never have to wait in line!

Low capacity + high demand explains it.

Thanks.

Diane,
Sorry it sounds like in your opinion you waster a perfectly good WDW day. I know your original question was whether or not anyone else was disappointed but I am curious about a couple of things.

Why didn't you just go through the standby line? Yesterday during those hours when I passed by it was not over a 45 minute wait. I've rarely seen an hour wait for that one.

My second question is why you didn't get back there until 11:45 since you had done everything else you had wanted the night before and that park closes at 9:00.

I amcuroius about something DrMorrow commented on as well. Does anyone know for a fact if Disney does offsets the first FP return time? If they do what would be the point?

Anyway my answer to your question is, I thought it was educational the first few times. I have never gone around a corner banked like that one at 65 m.p.h. So for that reason alone I think it is VERY cool. would I ever wait three hours??? Not unless there was some other reward at the end or incentive at the beginning.

It MUST high high appeal to many or it would not have qualified for the Fast Pass status and you would not have had a three hour wait, three hours after the opening of the park.

Last week I stood in the singles line and rode 3 times in an hour.
The regular line was only 45 minutes long. Sometimes the fast pass isn't always the best choice.
At the Safari ride at AK I got a fast pass that was only 25 minute wait. I got in the regular line with a 15 minute wait, got off the ride and went back on a second time with the fast pass. Even back to back rides the animals were different.
I have been to the parks every summer for the past 15 years and considered them to be very slow. Thus the wait times were fast.
At MK during the parade at night I did Splash Mountain, Run Away Train and the pirates all within an hour.
Just was no problem with the light crowds that I compared to previous years. Years ago a wait at Splash Mountain could easy be 1 1/2 hours during the summer...........:) :)

I was not disappointed in Test Track--- I love Test Track---but then I am not a roller coaster/ thrill ride seeker. Test Track, TOT, and RNR are as wild as I can take. And the reason I love Disney is exactly because thrill rides are not the main attraction (or didn't used to be)--people who want that kind of experience should really look elsewhere.

That being said, I would never "wait" in line for 3 hours, or probably even 1 hour for any of the rides, but then I am a member of DVC so I go every year and don't need to wait in line. In fact, we never wait in line for Test Track, or get a fast pass--we go to the single rider/stand-by line and have never waited more than 1/2 hour, and usually much less. But, I also, do not consider a return-window for a fast-pass "waiting"; the point is you can go do other things so you are not just twiddling your thumbs standing in a hot line!

Just my .02:wave:

I didn't like Test Track particularly. One of the problems is the break down ratio. When the weather is very hot (which is a great deal of the time in Florida) the rubber tires and the blacktop track seem to want to fuse together. Not good.

This is the ONLY Fast Pass ride where your FP only does you minimal good. The line was not set up with FP in mind. You skip one section of the queue but still have a substantial wait. Once you get inside the building you are basically merged with everyone else early on. Not much of a time savings. The ride also broke down for about 10 minutes on us. Total wait with FP was 40 minutes and this was off-season. I didn't find it to be worth it.

The ride itself consists of actual car tests. Climbing up hills, bumpy roads, spin outs, heat, cold, collision and then they take you out and run you on a "race track". Understand that you could break down in one of the hot or cold weather rooms. That is not fun. The racing portion is the best part of the ride but it's only once around and too short.

HI PINTRADER,

THE STANDBY LINE WAS OVER AN HOUR LONG, MAYBE BECAUSE IT WAS SAT. AND WITH THE HEAT MY DAUGHTER AND I COULD NOT STAND ON THAT LINE THAT LONG.

I WANTED TO GET TO THE PARK EARLIER, BUT AFTER EPCOT THE NIGHT BEFORE WE WENT TO DTD, DISNEYQUEST AND TO A MOVIE PLUS PLEASURE ISLAND, MY DAUGHTER DOES NOT BELIEVE IN STOPPING, SHE FORGETS I AM OLDER THEN HER. WE WERE SO TRIED THE NEXT, WE GOT UP A 9:00, SHOWERED AND ATE IT WAS ALREADY AFTER 11:00. I AM NOT SAYING I DIDN'T THE RIDE I JUST THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BETTER.

I must admit that I loved Test Track the first times that I experienced it. I must say that each time I ride it, however, I enjoy it less and less. It is a frustrating experience to me when it breaks down. I really do imagine that I would enjoy the experience more if something didn't go wrong with the ride the majority of times that I have been on it. :)

I am not a big Test Track fan (give me Tower of Terror anyday!!) :)

Test Track is an OK ride, but far from a thrill ride, IMO.

We went on it alot because my 3 year old son loves it ;)

I'm with the OP. The first time I went on TT I wondered what all the fuss was about. I didn't even have a wait to ride it! That was a few years ago and each time I ride it, it gets a little better. But I still miss the original World of Motion :(.

I'll jump on the other side of the fence ;) - I love Test Track. I'm not sure if it's because its' a really fun ride or because it's one of the best attractions in Epcot - but despite it's breakdown problem, it's still a favorite of mine.

And yes, I understand the Fastpass issue. It was the only Fastpass we got that forced us to wait more than 20 minutes to get on the ride. But after waiting almost 2 hours in the standby line for Splash Mountain, that was nothing.;)

I'm with BonnieA. I like Test Track - I think it is fun and different than anything else. But I loved World of Motion and was really sorry to see it go. It was an attraction in the full sense of the word. I would have much preferred if they built Test Track elsewhere without eliminating World Of Motion.

I came off the ride saying, "That's it?".

Now my DH, on the other hand, is an engineer in the automotive industry and he thought it was really cool, as did my 12 yo DS. DD and I both had the opinion that it was an OK ride, but nothing worth waiting all day for.

Of course, it didn't help that we had been at MGM the night before and rode Tower of Terror over and over!

FP is destributed in 10 minute incriments. They figure what the through put will be and that is how many passes that they give out. This is what one of the imagineers has told me before.

As for the FP not making a difference. It does make a difference. I saw in one of the posts that they merge you together early on. If you have a fast pass you have a seperate line upto the pre-show area and that is where you get mixed together. With FP they say that you should wait no more than 15 min and with TT you are pretty close to that time limit.

I love TT. I'm normally there at least once a week and I will always hit it. It is going to be a tough choice now with MS once they get their single rider line going.
