Was anyone at MNSSP on Sept 16? Did you request partial compensation from guest services?

As the subject says. It was pouring torrential rain till 8, and things were ….diminished up till the fireworks. Truncated parade, no cadaver Dans that I saw, mass confusion from CMs on the delayed 8:15 parade. It was fine from 10-midnight but that wasn’t enough time for all the experiences. I don’t know the refund etiquette.

Wasn't there but have been at several Halloween and Christmas parties where it rained and parts of the party did not happen or were delayed.
By purchasing the tickets you agree that its a possibility.
If the entire party was cancelled like in the case of a hurricane they will refund but not when they still have the party and it just happened to be raining.

If everyone gets a refund, then I also want a refund for all those rainy hours at Disney. What makes a party ticket more important than a day ticket, or an annual pass? Non-party folks get drenched too.
It has nothing to do with getting wet ... it is about that you did not get the specific things you paid for.

Like ... were parades cancelled or greatly reduced in size, were the fireworks impacted, were the Hocus Pocus shows cancelled, usually the candy is under cover now but was it impacted, did the special character meets get reduced as many are outside, were dance parties moved under cover or cancelled .... these are the extras that they paid for, not the rides or perfect weather.

Years ago I went to a party that was greatly impacted by torrential rain, so bad park was very empty before the fireworks finally went off delayed ... in a solid cloud too so they were interesting. They refunded anyone who asked.

I guess I'm too sensible to think I'd be entitled to a refund knowing it could rain the entire time and shows, fireworks, meet n greets etc could be impacted.

Many guests over the years have been impacted by weather, it’s a known risk when purchasing a party ticket - or any park ticket. I’ve had Christmas parties greatly impacted by weather too in that it was damp and misty so the parade was affected and stage shows cancelled as it was too slippery to be safe for the dancers.

We still had an amazing time and never thought of asking for any sort of a refund.

If guests are going to request a (partial) refund for inclement weather Disney might as well stop offering parties or honestly, even day tickets.

Having been at Disney often during rain and inclement weather I can say with certainty that we still had a great time and honestly made some of our favourite memories in the less busy park and splashing atound!!

My thought is Disney should not need to provide partial refunds to guests if some offerings were reduced or cancelled as they still had so many other party opportunities available to guests.

It's weird how defensive people get about this sort of thing.

Disney has offered Rain checks in the past for events being washed out. Including many MNSSHP.

Rule of thumb is normally to speak to CM before you leave or within a few days. Be kind and you never know Disney might have some magic for you.
People act like it’s coming out of their pockets. It’s not, Disney price gouges “guests” at every turn, think it’s alright if those same guests get a refund once in a while.

OP, I would just ask Guest Services. Can't hurt and maybe it could help.

Edited for clarity.

I wasn't there, but given that we are spending more than 800 USD to attend an upcoming party, I think if our party experience was significantly impacted for this once in a lifetime event (for us), then I think it's worth a polite conversation at Guest Services to see what they can do. I agree with scrappinginontario about making the most of it (we will also be the ones jumping in puddles).

I feel like it’s changed a bit over the years. Back in the day, you generally had to line up at
Guest Services in the park before you left the party for a chance to get any kind of refund.

Nowadays it seems like they’ll automatically give you a refund, gift card, or chance to attend another party if it’s a complete washout.

Some rain though? Kind of a grey area. I’m not sure if I’ve heard of partial refunds before.
Just call and ask.

I can see Disney issuing a partial refund if all, and I mean all outdoor Halloween-related activities were canceled due to the rain. It sounded like the parade and the fireworks still took place on 9/16.

Gouging? Really? Creativity, innovation, labor, maintenance, etc. have a cost. You like to enjoy their final product but don't like to pay the asking price?

Except that just a few parties ago it rained and there are quite a few reports (in the MNSSHP thread) of getting a $75 gc/voucher. OP, call GS and see if anything can be done.
Yes, this.

Party was Sunday Sept. 7. Torrents began midway through fireworks and continued unabated. Mad scramble for cover ruined the fireworks, no second parade, shows or trick or treating. Everyone hunkering under awnings for the last couple of hours as it absolutely poured. Puddles over the ankles for those who ventured out.

Went to GS the next day and asked if Disney was offering any compensation. CM’s happily processed a $75 gift card. I was offered the alternative of park hopper addition (already have an AP) or different Halloween party which I couldn’t do.

Clearly Disney thought this through. If they didn’t have an issue with compensation, don’t see why anyone else would…. especially since they clearly were not there.

To be fair I believe it is price gouging which has led me to stop spending my money on the parties.
Since covid prices of the party tickets have doubled in some cases for the same experience.
I understand that that is how the entire economy has gotten so instead of complain I just prioritize.
