WARRIORS are no fools in April!

Great job Kate! You'll do awesome in Boston! I can't believe you can swim that fast. I managed 1/2 mile in that same 30 minutes last night. It was my first swim of the season and I was having breathing issues, but still...you were truckin'!!!:thumbsup2

I have a hill work out scheduled for tonight. Looking forward to it. I actually like the hill.

Later Warriors!

Hey Warriors-
Sarah Rose- the drawbridge sounds a bit frightening! So, you have to get over the bridge super fast, and not get distracted by the metal grate thing you can see through as you're running!? Better be a good shirt at the end of that one! ;) Oh, and we had a schnauzer that failed obedience school not once, but twice, so I'm very impressed with Jack's progress.

Hehe, I forget (and I've only lived here less than 2 years) that drawbridges aren't a normal thing in most parts of the country. I have THREE drawbridges that I regularly cross during my training runs (usually two different ones in one run) and those don't even include the one that we'll be running over during that race. I guess we have a lot of drawbridges in Seattle.... well, I guess we have a lot of canals that lead to the sea, and a lot of sailboats. So that helps. :rotfl:

Heh - and thanks Warriors for all the encouragement with Jack. He's really a great dog, and our end goal is eventually to get him his begleithund certification (a strenuous test done primarily, but not only, with German Shepherds, that involves, among many other things, a 10-15 minute down-stay in a highly trafficked area, with strange people and dogs, and his trainer out of sight) but he needs to be able to deal appropriately with strange dogs on-leash first, obviously. The obedience when there are no other dogs around (or only familiar dogs, like in an obedience class) we've got down.... the other part.... well, it led to my fiance, following the pointers from the trainers, taking 15 minutes to get from the parking lot into his dog-friendly office building, yesterday. :rotfl:

Hey warriors!

I am alive and have been posting my minutes on the spreadsheet. I have lost my running mojo but have been doing other stuff. And super busy keeping up with Miss Delena. She is SO SO busy. I wish I could bottle her energy!

My 5K a couple weeks ago went well! RR here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2137902&page=2

In hopes of finding running motivation, I am committing to run the Mickey in 2010! :scared1: and volunteer the 1/2.

Kate--Best of luck in Boston!!

Tracy--Is it stormy by you?? It is here. Tornado warnings and all that.

Everyone:

Jen, good luck getting the work thing resolved. As for the "do I's," I just don't have an answer for you and WISH you the best for your answer. Sounds like you've got your hands so full managing the strollers and all that it must be really tough to get anything done. My thought is to do what makes you happy. Just for you. It's a break you need and the event should be just the fun-est part of it all.

Sarah, I'm not thinking I'd be enjoying the bridge event unless I could carry something to sit upon while I wait for the bridge to be lowered. It would be a party waiting for sure! No way would I make it over quick enough.

Marcia, sounds like a good idea to spend Easter differently since it's not your celebration.

I see Tracy posted up Matt's pictorial review of his ongoing China trip leading to the ironman. I've been watching it since he's linked it via Facebook. It is such fun to see. I've been having fun with FB. (Tracy linked it via the weekly thread btw.)

Good luck in Boston Kate! Have a great time

I'll have to look at Thunder Matt's Ironman pictures...I didn't know there was a thread.

As for me, I haven't been running but I did go to Spin class and a weight training class today.

Quick hello!

Heads up, :upsidedow dear Wish teams and fans! We are doing another mixer. This one is dedicated to Vicky, our own little bunnyfoo!

The question is this: What is your favorite vegetable recipe? Double points if it is not just a sidedish or salad! The points can be cashed in duing marathon weekend when you see how your recipe helped us all become lythe and sleek, knowing beyond a doubt that we, all of WISH, are the best team there!!

Can't wait for dinner, now! See ya! Connie, captain of Hakuna Matata!

Happy Teusday Fellow Warriors!

The amazingly horrid weather passed by about noon today. I was able to put in 8 1/2 miles (my longest run in a loooooong time) this afternoon.

I also did 18 1/2 miles on the bike during a Geocaching ride on Sunday.

TRYING to keep up with the P90X workouts, but They Are Tough & I Am Not Very Fit.

Keep Rocking Kids!

I ran today for the first time in 9 days due to my vacation. My oh my, my body really appreciated the rest. My IT band was good to go, so I must have had a micro-tear in it for a while. Time off allowed it to heal. Good stretching before, during, and after the run.

8 1/4 miles, 1:17:02.

Guru Les is on injured reserve, and will likely need back surgery to repair his disk. So I'm running alone for a while.

Everybody!

Don't forget the vegetable mixer at Hakuna Matata, today! We really need your ideas!!!

Hey Warriors-

After some self pity yesterday morning, I went out and ran 3.12 miles at lunch. Then after dinner, I took the kids out in the stroller/bike and did a very slow 2 miles. I've never done a double workout- it required many showers throughout the day and a lot of laundry, but I'm feeling kind of hard core. ;)

Good Hump day to all my fabulous Warriors!!!!

(hoping you all filed your taxes or filed an extension :))

Sarah: How are the allergies? getting better? How is Jack the German Shepard doing with his On-Lead issues? Nice goal to have for the dog. I have a Border Terrier and she had her CGC and CD certificates. (canine good citizen and Companion Dog AKC certificate). More races for you, cool. I am trying to do one a month. I feel it keeps me honest, keeps me moving towards a goal.

Michelle: 2 naps in one day! I am jealous because I LOVE to nap! (where's the couch and pillow?:lmao:) How did the hill work go. I love doing my hill (if you can call it that in FL) work when I go to Mount Trashmore!! Nice swim also.

Lily: You must love going out with Kirby Dog for your runs/walks!! I guess you r weather is cooperating. It's hard for my Mickey Dog to get out there as she is 14 and can't really see or hear all that great anymore.

Marcia: You like baseball huh? NO running for you, now how can you do that with Jeff always running?

Amy: We had decent weather yesterday just like 2 little showers during the afternon. Was ok after work for my walk. Today it is supposed to rain and was raining about 10 min ago. YOU'RE DOING THE FULL NEXT YEAR!!! ugh, how can you leave Maura, Bryan and I to volunteer without you. I think Maura is deciding on the full and I have been thinking about it. Just have to get Bryan to change over and then maybe we can volunteer for the Half together again!! Not sure if that will work and I proabaly won't decide until August sometime.

Marcie: Hi!! Nice overtime hours that you have collected. Hoping you get to get out there for your runs soon.

Jen: Nice double workout that you got! Have you decided on your goals yet?

Jim: It's raining here today, but not supposed to last very long. Hey - 8 1/2 miles is miles isn't it!! That is all the matters. P90X - I am assuming you want to get "ripped" like the commercials says. Let us know how it works out.

Aloha Jeff: Sorry to hear about Guru Les!!! That's a shame. Sounds like the rest did a body good huh? Keep up the good work.

AFM: I got out for a 4 miler last night after work at the park. I noticed more people out running and walking than usual and different people. I guess its that time of year when the summer athletes come out to join the rest of us. :rotfl: I am still a bit tight after my 10K last Saturday as I am doing some more running to add to my walking. Not much and only doing that on longer races to kinda "break up" the walking a bit. I am trying to do at least one local race per month. I figure if I sign up and pay then I have to do it. It keeps me moving and training for a goal and that's good right?

Have a great day everyone!!!

Racey Tracy (that's Freckles to Jeff)

Sarah - I am too slow so the drawbridge thing would definitely NOT be a good thing for me! What a horrible time I would have in that race! ;)

Tracy - Good job on your "hill" workout! The funny thing is that I never get to nap! With DD4 running around, it seems like as soon as I fall asleep, I hear "Mommy...I need...(insert random thing here that she really doesn't need me for!)" I only got to nap because (and I wish I had a picture of this) DH was sitting on the couch end with the recliner up, I laid across with my head on his lap, DD4 came and laid in between his legs on the recliner and we were all asleep! Would have been a priceless picture!

Jeff - Sorry to hear about Guru Les. Hopefully he'll be back up and kickin' your butt in no time!:lmao: Seriously...glad to hear that your rest did you good and that you are back at it!:thumbsup2

Jen - Great job on the double workout. You are hardcore!

Jim - You, not fit??? HA! I don't think so...

Marcia - Do I have to come over and take you for a run???:cutie:;) Just kidding...hope you had fun at spin class! DH is headed to Napa on Saturday to do the Cycle for Sight 25 mile race. They wanted me to go, but I have only been on my bike once so far...I figured that was asking a bit too much!

Keep it up Warriors!

AFM: I did 4.5 miles worth of my hill workout last night in a gale force head wind! There were times it was blowing so hard that you actually stopped moving. I had to hold onto my WISH visor and actually had to grab the light post at one point! It was not fun! Oh well...it's all done and over with now. Will head out tonight for a nice run on the cushy track!

Happy Tax day everyone!

Way to get out there and get the miles in everyone!

Jeff - tell Uncle Les, I hope he heals quickly. I'm sure he's been in some pain for a while now.

Hoosmi - why not "goofy"?!? Everyone else is...no pressure really. :rotfl2:

Jim- bike, run, p90x?!? not in shape? LOL, now I REALLY feel like a slug!

The only sport seasons I enjoy are NCAA basketball and baseball seasons...and I only watch baseball because it's outside in the sun. I tend to take a few months off after the "goofy" from running, but last year I went right into training for a huge bike ride and I think I was totally burnt out from training. So this year, I'm just maintaining and I'll probably get back into running by May.

BTW: I am a proud new home owner of a certified LEED "Green" house. I get my keys on Friday and I will be completely moved in by May 1!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Marcia!!!!!!
:cool1::thumbsup2;):banana::):woohoo::yay::dance3:

Home ownership!!! Yeah!!!!

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your good wishes, i'm going to scoop them all up and take them with me!

Marcia- that's brilliant that you have your very own home! You must be so incredibly proud.

Today- 4.7miles 41mins run in wind and rain... looks like good preparation for boston weather! Flying out tomorrow so i guess next time i write it'l be done (hopefully). Had to put in an extra physio today as apparently my behind knee pain is hamstring strain, silly kate.

Have a great weekend Warriors :goodvibes

Yay Kate! Have a safe and fun trip!

Marcia, congrats on new home ownership!

Jeff, sorry about your running partner Les being sidelined. Good job getting back at it after vaca. Good for you for taking vaca!

Jim, ummmm not in shape? Not even.

Jen, good job on the double running!

Michelle, good job getting out in the wind. You really worked for that!

Tracy, yeah, Kirby is 12 and I figure he needs all the help he can get keeping fit. He's the oldest I've ever had a dog. Mine usually only lasted about 6 years (great danes). Good for you aiming for an event each month.

I got out for 2 miles and it was a lovely day. Actually got out on the scooter too!

Hey Team!

Keep up the miles and smiles everyone, you're all doing great!

As for me, it was a bit hot out today, so I cut my run portion short to 6 miles. When I got back to the park where I start, I jumped into the Pacific Ocean for 400 yards of swimming.

And so my triathlon training begins. LOL.

My soon to be 11 year old daughter is training for her second kids triathlon next month. She's running pretty well, which is her least favorite of the three elements.

I'll be "Mr. Mom" this week, as the Queen will be taking her annual trip with students to Washington D.C. Lots of fun things planned in her absence, and gourmet cooking with the girls. :thumbsup2

Have a happy Aloha Friday.

Hey kids-

Did 3 on Wednesday, and 2.5 last night. Ran last night with kids in stroller, Emma on bike- right after eating my weight in Mexican food with no side effects. Seriously, I could so do the Krispy Kreme challenge! ;)

For those of you asking if I've decided on my goals, here's a tentative list (after much dreaming of faraway locations, I went with proximity):

1) 10/3/09 Jax Marine Corps Half

2) 10/11/09 Race for Taste (convenient that the APs I bought last year expire on 10/9 isn't it!?:headache:)

3) 12/13/09 Jax Bank Full/Half?

4) 2/7/10 Tallahassee Full/Half?

5) 2/21/10 Jax 26.2 with Donna (breast cancer) Full/Half?

6) 3/7/10 Princess Half

I'm undecided about the Disney January races for many reasons too boring to list. I'm not ruling it out though...;)

HEY- ISN'T KATE HEADED TO BOSTON RIGHT NOW!?!?!:woohoo:

Jen in GA

Happy Friday Warriors!!!

I'm in Tampa this weekend. Did 4 miles this a.m. in 36:00

Not much running the last couple of days. LTO a little bit, But did a couple of hours of P90X Wed & Thurs.

Jen - That's a pretty cool "fall Schedule" you have mapped out. I will be at a few of those. I was going to do the Jax Marine Corps 1/2, but will be out of town. I'll probably do the RFTT & ToT both (just because of the Bonus Bling (Yes. Yes I AM that shallow......)). I will definitely be at the 26.2 w/Donna.

I'lll also be doing the Mickey (No more Goofy's for my poor tired feet), the AFAC Tri in September.

I'm also seriously considering paying a visit to my childhood stomping grounds and doing the Space Coast Marathon in November. Anyone ever done that?

Plus I will be playing bike medic for the Donald, the Princess 1/2 & whatever else I can fit in my pulverized schedule............

Happy Friday Warriors!

I finally got a rest day yesterday and boy did I need it. I was soooo tired. I am hoping to get to the gym tonight for another swim. They have a class at 6 that takes over the pool, which would actually be the perfect time for me. So I may have to go later...or just forget the whole thing and do a weight circut. Oh well...I'll just have to see what I feel like when I get home! Tomorrow I am meeting up with Robert and Linda (ultramm) to pick up race supplies. We are running an aid station at his marathon on Sunday! Should be fun!

BTW - Congrats on your new home, Marcia!!! (Yay, I have a "green" home to stay at when I come down for Bay area races!:thumbsup2 LOL!)
