Happy Easter, Warriors! I had an IKEA cinnamon bun (we were at IKEA last night to scope out wardrobes and picked up a tray) for breakfast this morning, which felt very.... festive.
Tracy: Congrats on your 10K! I'm so jealous that you have so many great events around you! I guess no one here wants to race in the rain!
Kate: I guess the good thing about a name like Heartbreak Hill is that it gives you the opportunity to mentally prepare for the worst, and then nothing could be as bad as what you imagine!
I'm still around, but not getting in nearly as many runs as I'd like. Between bad weather, allergies, and being in a bit of a mental running slump.... I'm just not doing as much as I should be. Oh well, this happens to us all at times.
I did get out for a 4 mile run with Jack the German Shepherd last night, though. We took him to a private training session (with two trainers who work with the police canine units; it was awesome! They had Jack going from being afraid of the agility tunnel to running through it on command in 2 minutes!) yesterday, and got some great advice for dealing with Jack's on-leash "defensive" issues with other dogs. However, for now, I'm confined to running with him late in the evening when there are few other dogs around, and have to lead him away from other dogs before he freaks out, sometimes zig-zagging back and forth to keep myself between him and the other dog. The theory behind the method is sound (it's basically telling the dog that you, as pack leader, recognize the threat and are in control of the situation), but it will make for some interesting Garmin uploads for awhile.
